I agree. Her voice is fantastic! I've loved everything I've heard her do. Having heard dozens of songs sung by her, I can think of only one I like better by anyone else: _Love Has No Pride,_ of which I prefer Bonnie Raitt's recording. But not by very much at all! Linda did a tremendous job of it. Fred
I vaguely recall watching them do this duet on some TV variety show (remember those?!) back then; this may be what I saw, idk (wish there were some info on that here!). There aren't many female singers who can carry the soprano part of this song at all well, but Linda does it just bone-chillingly perfectly, while making it seem effortless. And Hoyt's composition, along with this two-part harmony, is itself just perfect. And trickier to pull off than it sounds! Fred
When Ronstadt makes that first falsetto from the word "call", Axton was a goner. She had the most beautiful vibrato. And Hoyt had that baritone and bass.
I came across this after listening to her autobiographical film .. the sound of my voice that aired on CNN... 2020 New year's day it aired....She stricken as you know with Parkinson's but she did sing at the end of the film... It was heartbreaking 💔 like a broken bird trying to fly. She's lived a very full life but now a very different life
Such a lovely and poignant comment, Gigi. She really left no musical stone unturned. I hope she still experiences joy in her days; she still brings joy to mine.
I've had a lucky life, musically; when all my peers were listening to Mersey beat, and stones, and beatles, I had country, Johnny cash, Linda , dolly, emmylou, hank , willie and waylon, and so much more. I feel so sorry for my countrymen, missing out like that.... Oh well, I tried to tell 'em, but they wouldn't listen. Literally!
Her falsetto is so effortless her face doesn’t even squinch up when she does the leap. And knew exactly how to harmonize with Hoyt’s rumbling bass making a lovely blend. You could hear every note from each singer. Oh Linda you were the best!
Great duet. Linda is the G.O.A.T.
Huge fan of both Hoyt Axton and Linda Ronstadt. I'm ashamed I just found this song. It give me chills. What a great song.
Takes my breath away every time I hear it. Beautiful.
I once read the comment that Linda Ronstadt was the song writers friend. I really feel that her voice is a tribute to every song she ever covered.

I remember this song from I was about 11 yrs old, and never forgot it. I always loved it. I am glad I refound it, these are two of countries greats.

I can't say,"I have a least favorite song".I like every one I have heard. Linda had the best control of her voice of all the female singers. Cheers.
Like the line in the song, "when I first saw you I first loved you"! And then I heard you sing. And I was smitten.
Grew up listening to Hoyt and Linda. I was singing along by the time I was 4 or 5. Huge influence on me, musically, and one of my favorite duets
Pretty song with Linda's falsetto. Hoyt looks smitten with her.
Pretty much every man would be smitten by Linda. I was.
I was too
Aren't we all?
We all were.
One of my favorites
One of my favorites
Mine, too...❤️
I'm another member of that club!

Thanks for tuning in and for your comment.
Can't blame Axton. Linda had the same sweetness in her voice Olivia NJ had, but earlier.
Oh my.........chills.
Linda Ronstadt ,Genius.
Thanks for checking in with us.
She is indeed! And so is Hoyt!!

Hoyt was one of a kind! Had this and others on two tapes but someone stole them out of my car.
Thanks Thomas for visiting The Hammer Works.
He was just a little bit lit up. Love Hoyt.
Awesome twosome!

La mejor voz .la hermosa Linda Ronstadl mi música favorita su increíble voz desde Republica Argentina con cariño♥️
I think a fair argument can be made for Linda Ronstadt as the all-around best female singer of all time.
I might take out the word "female."
@@mgrimes1367 indeed!
❤
What year is this?

Jan,could you put "water for my horses" on your channel? Thanks.
Thanks Thomas for checking in with us. I regret to say that of all Hoyt's tunes that is my least favorite.
Why not a clean video ?
This is the only video of the tune available.
Sorry it' a very good video and song
My least favorite Hoyt Axton tune is "Water For My Horses".
@@janhammer39 Really? Least fave?! It's one of my most favorite. But it still can't hold a candle to this brilliant composition!!
Fred
He sucks compared to Linda ronstadt I only watched it because of her she’s my favorite singer of all time
