As Mel mentioned, hyaluronic acid works by retaining moisture. But what it should be also added to this information is that, hyaluronic acid serum for example, should ALWAYS be applied to damp skin. You can spray some thermal water on your face before or after the serum. This way you won't have this drying feeling anymore.
This might be a "duh" but everyday when I do my eyebrows, after I have filled them in, I tweeze. I feel like most people wait till they are crazy to deal with them but why? You can consistently maintain them without ever needing to do a big job or a waxing if you just grab the few hairs growing out every day. (Granted my hairs are light so I dont have a bunch of dark peach fuzz that NEEDS waxing but still)
This video was very informative! I have a rare disability and am in my bed most of the time so when I see your genuine heart ,honesty and professional knowledge on makeup, it brings happiness to me, unlike any other YTber. Thank you so much for making a difference in my life! Love you so much ♥️♥️♥️
Linda Rutt Linda sometimes it is just nice to know you are not alone in your struggle. Even though it isn’t something I would wish on anyone. Your sweet comment to Mel, just urged me to reach out, I just adore her as well. She really is the sweetest person and I just love listening to her and watch her put on makeup, even though I don’t do wear much myself. When I do I like to make the extra effort and Mel has taught me so much. Lots of love from an other ‘bed lover’ 😉❤️😘💋
I used to wear strip lashes every day for years. To prevent pulling out lashes upon removal, I never just pulled the strips off my lid. I use a q-tip soaked in an oil free eye make up remover (Neutrogena makes one) and rub it along the lash band and after 30 seconds or so the falsies slide right off without pulling your natural lashes out. The bonus is that it loosens the glue on the lash band so you can peel it off easier and reuse the lashes. 😍
Absolutely great tips Mel. I love learning from you. I've been doing tha MakeUp sponge & setting spray for years because I can't use much powder to set. It works great under tha eyes too. Sending hugs for good health😘
I already do a lot of these because of you! Thank you! Lately I've been wanting a more luminous powder but don't want to go to the store so I take a normal banana or translucent loose powder in my cap and dust a little loose highlighter with it and just dust it all over. You can figure out your own measurements. 💓 Also when I receive really dark samples of concealer/foundation, instead of tossing it I use it as cream contour. Also when I do my lip scrub I take a cheap soft toothbrush and use that to help me exfoliate my lips. Put your masks in the fridge. Sorry i could go on. 😄
Yes! The Ha! It’s even in some powders! And eye drops. I loveeeeee using more than one primer and spraying my sponge! There’s something so gratifying about that. Great tips Mel!! 🤗
So Good that you talked about HA because it's like it has become the new big thing, but not many is aware of the things you mentioned also, if HA is good for you or not also depends on where you live, because I you live in a very dry climate, dessert like it will also work in reverse and actually pull moisture from your skin into the air, so if you live in a very dry place it will be good to replace the HA with squalene
Hi, Mel--Great tips. Thanks so much. One question: when you use your sponge to apply the Tacha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, is your sponge slightly damp or do you spray it on a dry sponge?
I have learned so much about skincare from Brianna...I can't believe I spent so much money on skincare that likely didnt do anything. She has re-wired my brain. Thank you Brianna for educating us all xx
Hi Mel, does this mean that you should avoid HA in foundation and powder? Eg is the By Terry HA tinted powder going to be drying if it's the last thing you put on your face? Ty x
My favorite trick, I allways use my sponge sprayed with to start, skindinavia finishing to pounce in my foundation, becca cc,& consealer, usualy cr.blush bronzer ect. But I finish by pouncing in with Tatcha. I get a glow that realy lasts all day. I get allot of great ideas from you. Thanks a ton.
Love your tips! You and me with the lashes girl! I've been using Revitalash for years and I will never look back! With long lashes, you can get away with less eye makeup and your eyes still pop! Love you!!
Yes!!! I’m so glad I don’t have to mess with the falsies all the time anymore!!! Also, I purchased the little hair remover you mentioned! I use a dermaflash but I would love to have one that doesn’t exfoliate as well!!! I hadn’t heard about those before 😻
Thank you very much for the great content. I always wondered why by terry hydra powder didn’t work for me! It always made my undereyes looked dryer though I tried several application techniques. I also want to thank you sooo much for sharing your buffing technique with us it changed how my complexion makeup looks my skin look AMAZING & i get so many compliments now regardless of my skin condition that is combination, porous & i have so many issues with it. Thanks again you’re wonderful ❤️
Great video! Going to try the setting spray on the sponge! My tip is to use a fine pencil liner first as a guideline for your liquid liner...I'm not great with liquid liners, so this has been an incredible help! 💖 u!!
Mel- I’m hoping you can give me some quick help. I’ve been doing my own makeup in a ‘serious’ way for.. 4/5 years.. I have Mish Mash of e/s brushes, and I HAVE Noticed what a diff a great brush makes. Thing is I want a Set!!! I was wondering what you’d recommend ( not face just eyes) in the price range of the Zoeva golden rose set? Zoeva? Sigma? Mykitco?
I appreciate that I never get bored with watching your videos lol. Some days your tired or whatever but I rarely don't get distracted. Not a disrespect to others. But you give tips that are helpful from your experience.
I came from Brianna's channel ❤ I love you tip with spoolie before mascara as well as the setting spray/makeup sponge tip. Thank you. Samantha March also talks highly of you too. 😊❤⭐
Just ordered 15 Sydney Grace eyeshadows! I was just about to order MUG when I saw/listened to your review of MUG. Hearing you praise SG made me want to try them. Now I can’t wait for them to get here!
Hi! I see that you are wearing the new chanel loose powder. What do you think about the powder? I use the old one for almost a decade. I do not w'ant to be without it. I hope that the new one is good or even better?
Also hyaluronic acid is better to use during summer time because of the heat & moisture in the air. It’s drying to use in the winter when ur skin is already dry. I found that out the hard way. For lashes I love using babe lash serum on my eyelashes I now have long lashes that are also getting thicker.
Hello Mel, it is nice to see you. Brianna sent me over here. I really enjoyed your tips, so I subscribed and I followed you on Instagram. I was intrigue with the make up spray and the sponge application. I will try to pat the spray mist down with a sponge and if that doesn't work I will spray the sponge and pat that over my face. Thank you for those ideas to mull over.
These are great tips - I use HA in my serum and then I put my moisturizer with it as well. I think that works for me - haven't been severely dry so I guess it is working? I need to spoolie my lashes more often and yes that final buffing routine and then pouncing vs spraying right over your face looks so amazing as a final step!
Thank you for such a comprehensive and educational video! I just watched your buffing technique video - would you recommend any new powders that are on the market or would you still recommend the same ones? I had no idea about the HA! Thank you again 🤍 hope you have a wonderful week x
Hi Mel 😊❤️ I enjoyed your video today I always learn all my tricks from you all the blending tricks all the makeup tricks I enjoy this have a safe day and I'll see you in the next video love you
I hate spraying directly onto my face any setting or finishing spray because I always get it in my hair & on my shirt so I started spraying a damp sponge & pouncing it into my skin. It works great & helps to eliminate any cakiness or powdery look. A great way to set undereye concealer without using powder too.
Always love to hear you tips & tricks with makeup. Your makeup always looks so flawless and perfect every time and it shows you know what your doing. Thank you for always giving us great info. ❤️🥰😍💋 I also get oily in my tzone and anytime I want my makeup to stay in place and look perfect and not break apart I use either the Tatcha silk canvas, the Makeup Revolution putty primer or the Elf Matte putty primer. For powder my ride or die will always be the Chanel poudre libre. I’m so annoyingly sad that they changed to formula so I’m buying every original one I can find. 😍
I dont need Hyaluronic Acid in my makeup. I have it in my skincare. I wish makeup brands would stop with this kind of marketing because it’s clear that they don’t actually research how these ingredients actually WORK.
Great tip on putting setting spray on sponge first. I had trouble with Tatcha setting mist so I stopped using. I will definitely try this tip! Thank for the great tips!
Oils work for lashes like conditioner works for hair. I’ve seen results. Especially if you have dry eyes. I’m waiting for someone to come out with lash and eyebrow conditioner. Let’s do this Mel! 😆
I use the hourglass translucent powder which I absolutely love however, I have always wanted to try the Chanel powder. I see you have it listed here. An you tell me what you love about the Chanel? I want to buy it so bad. Appreciate your opinion.
I have had great results with Grande Lash but you have to use it everyday faithfully. I also use castor oil but think its main function is to reduce breakage. My lashes now almost touch my brows but have been doing this for several months
Enjoyed the video! What eye make up remover do you use to get everything off; some don't work well on removing eyeliner and to use a lash serum that area has to be really clean.
Mel: have you tried the ABH Dewy Set or the Cover FX Dewy? I think the Cover FX Is one of the best for well.. Dewiness- but recently I read the ingredients and was not thrilled..So I’m wondering about ABH Dewy set bc ppl say it’s Dewy and conditions( but I’ve noticed in many Yt
I am anti HA because I live in a climate that is dry most of the year. I apply my powder with my sponge and that has changed the game for me. Especially under my eyes and oily spots. No matter what powder and brush I use, it looks cakey and unnatural on me. I also apply my highlight with my sponge. It just looks so soft and diffused imo. My everyday your lips but better hack is to use a lip liner that is just like one shade darker. (My favorite is Lime Crime "taupest") I over line where I need to, contour, blend it out a bit and top with chapstick or aquaphor. Makes my lips look like my lips but actually better, is way more comfortable than lipstick and using a good balm keeps things hydrated.
Funny I just looked up your lash brand this morning (just took off my lash extensions and my lashes are sooo bad now) and THIS video you talk about it! 😊Question... You mentioned your setting spray on your sponge then patting in... Is the song already damp or dry?
Great tips! I have weak lashes and have found that even the "cleanest" mascara makes them brake. Now I use clear lash gel to give them some shine and accept my lashes they way they are. Off to check out Brianna's channel!
Hyaluronic acid can also pull moisture from the air so it’s best suited for ppl in more humid climates and not if in dry climate. If in dry climate i wouldn’t use it at all.
Hello I love what you do! It is full of advice. Can you make a make up with the eye ecstasy from Pat McGRATH?? I know you love her palette but nothing bout these 2 Thank you Take care Stephanie from Paris, France.
Mel I ALWAYS trust your opinion on primers which is why IM LITERALLY DYING waiting for you to try the Shiseido Waso Poreless Matte Primer. I saw it in Sephora and the REVIEWE ARE AMAZING. Just for the t-zone-,of course., Plesse try it!! I’d send it to you if I had the $
Anyone interested in hearing more about HA check out Dr. Dray’s channel and her videos on it. Very informative! Thanks for another video Mel! Love you and hope you and your family are well!
Omg these are amazing tips!!! I already use multiple primers and multiple setting powders to target my combo skin needs; I will definitely be implementing the other tips you mentioned.
Great video, love al the tips!! I started using castor oil back in January but after a month i had to stop using as it was giving me pink eye, i was pretty disappointed as i was seeing results in my eyelash growth, i started again but im being more careful, i hope in a few months months im able to buy the revitalash
Does the spray sponge technique ever lift your foundation? That happened to me. Also, Have you ever tried the Dear Katie Brown glitters? They look spectacular! 🤩
My makeup tricks are 1)tuck my lash curler into my bra when I start the makeup process by the time I am ready to curl my lashes the curler has warmed up and does a much nicer curl that lasts 2)to remove glitter eyeshadow without having it all over the place I take scotch tape and gently press it on the eyeshadow and it will lift it up, repeat a few times and it is like you never had any on, so much easier to then clean your face
Rapidlash has worked for me. Grande lash... not so much. I’m not spending $100+ on lash serum, that’s just my personal choice but they obviously work, just look at Mel’s beautiful lashes 💁🏻♀️
I’ve been using Babe Lash for almost a year. My lashes went from short stubby and invisible to long and thick (but still pretty transparent. Sucks to be a blonde sometimes). They look like falsies when I have mascara on. Not prescription. So glad there are non-prescription options.
Have you tried the new sponge from elf? It's called the camo concealer sponge. It is seriously THE best sponge I have ever used for under eyes. And it's only $6 and you can get it at Target.
I'm just so happy that you told everyone about the hyaluronic acid, as so many that doesn't know that and misuse it. I also love the trick about spraying the sponge it is genius, I use the sponge after spraying my face to make sure it all melds together. I will change my spray sponge usage to your, that way I will kill two birds with one stone. Stay safe and sane 🙏🏻❤️
Somebody recently said to me "really Mary did you just use 3 different primers on your face?" ROFL...yup I did that. I like an illuminating primer on the outside of my face and a couple different products in the pore area because why would I want to illuminate my pores? Never took the spoolie through but I will try it. Fav eyeliner: MILK in Biz..navy helps my older eyes look more white ;) Love you! xoxo
I am still using Larissa. It really works and is not that expensive when you get as much as 5 ml in the bottle. Also, they give you a lot of brushes and tell you to use one for each eye. This is wasteful. I just use one brush, put one drop in the cap and use it one both eyelash base and there is enough to do both your brows. You get a lot less with Neulash. Also, all the eye color side effects with Latisse was when that drug was used inside the eye, with internal drops in the eyeball. The active ingredient was used, initially, in the eyeball several times a day, for glaucoma and then they noticed those patients had fantastic lashes. For lash growth, one drop is enough. Thanks for the sponge tip for setting spray !! Love the tip you gave, before, for tightlining upper lash line and lining the upper lash line with black eyeshadow. It’s perfect for my hooded eyes.
Good tips! We love you too Mel!! Have you seen fenty new cream bronzer sand blushes! Omg will wait for your reviews before I buy but they look amazing! I need a new cream bronzer, since Chanel discontinued you beloved cream bronzer! 🙏
I’m so sorry!! I was editing late and accidentally set this for 7pm my time instead of 7am 😭😭😭😭 I just realized ghetto video wasn’t up 💔
Mel Thompson no worries!
No problem!
No worries I’ll watch you at 3am if needed 😂 love you 😍 and I learned all my tricks from you!
Your nails are beautiful

I do this exact thing and have never lost a lash upon removal

Another YT’r - Allie Glines uses a sponge after applying setting spray and then dries with a small hand held fan.
Sharon Perry , i tried that trick and it works really well

Thank you very much for the great content.

I appreciate that I never get bored with watching your videos lol. Some days your tired or whatever but I rarely don't get distracted. Not a disrespect to others. But you give tips that are helpful from your experience.
Mel, can you do a video ranking your Tom Ford quads? I want to get one to compliment Cocoa Mirage but not sure about quality and colors. Thanks!
I came from Brianna's channel ❤ I love you tip with spoolie before mascara as well as the setting spray/makeup sponge tip. Thank you. Samantha March also talks highly of you too. 😊❤⭐

Hi what is the brand of the big sponge you are setting with at the end of this video ? love your looks Xxx
Hi! I see that you are wearing the new chanel loose powder. What do you think about the powder? I use the old one for almost a decade. I do not w'ant to be without it. I hope that the new one is good or even better?
Hi what brand is the colourful sponge you used at the end of this video to show how to use your setting spray with a sponge ? love your videos Xxxx

I have a question. Can you recommend a good eyelash curler? Do you ever curl your eyelashes.
I’m actually scared of them lol... I’ve always heard the shiseido one is good tho! ❤️
The surratt is my fave
Audra Schwarz, thank you.
Love you Mel! 💕
Hi Mel 😊❤️ I enjoyed your video today I always learn all my tricks from you all the blending tricks all the makeup tricks I enjoy this have a safe day and I'll see you in the next video love you
Hey Mel
are you going to be doing a Sephora VIB guide?
I hate spraying directly onto my face any setting or finishing spray because I always get it in my hair & on my shirt so I started spraying a damp sponge & pouncing it into my skin. It works great & helps to eliminate any cakiness or powdery look. A great way to set undereye concealer without using powder too.
i LOVE your channel - found you recently and have done some major binge watching. xx
Can't wait to try the spooly trick!
Mel what would you suggest using as a last step if using By Terry Hyaluronic powder? I don’t want to dry out 😥
Hydrating toner or spray perhaps?
Always love to hear you tips & tricks with makeup. Your makeup always looks so flawless and perfect every time and it shows you know what your doing. Put a moisture barrier cream over HA. In my opinion it has no place in foundation. Tried Chanel water tint and it made me look like a prune
Great tip on putting setting spray on sponge first. I had trouble with Tatcha setting mist so I stopped using. I will definitely try this tip! Thank for the great tips!
Thanks for the tips Mel🤩😎
Brianna is BEAUTIFUL 💋❤ Great collaboration and I hope you had a wonderful weekend💋💋
Love your tips. I have Combo skin and follow all your Primer and Powder tips. Next I'll try your sponge technique for setting sprays.
Great tips Mel!! Thank you!!💖

Funny I just looked up your lash brand this morning (just took off my lash extensions and my lashes are sooo bad now) and THIS video you talk about it! 😊Question... You mentioned your setting spray on your sponge then patting in... Is the song already damp or dry?
Hi! So setting powder is one of my last steps but the by terry has hyaluronic acid as one of the main ingredients??
Haha-picturing pulling off lashes with grass clippings in them! :)
Great tips! I have weak lashes and have found that even the "cleanest" mascara makes them brake. Now I use clear lash gel to give them some shine and accept my lashes they way they are. Off to check out Brianna's channel!
what do you think of lash extensions and getting refills?
I’m from Brianna channel, I enjoyed your tips !!
Good Morning Mel! 😊 Very good info in this video. The sponge/spray info is very helpful! Thank you! Have a wonderful day and stay well 🤗❤️
You too!!! Xoxoxox
Hyaluronic acid can also pull moisture from the air so it’s best suited for ppl in more humid climates and not if in dry climate. If in dry climate i wouldn’t use it at all.
What are the two primers for your combo skin? Do you recommend any? I have combo oily skin
I care so much that you take a moment to shout out others
You're a blessing to many. Hugs to all, Latina
Thankyou for doing what you do, You light up my day everytime I see your face 💋💋💋 Blessed be Mel x
Hi Mel! Have you heard of/tried the new trend where you put powder on first? on top of you moisturizer and under your foundation?
Hello
I love what you do! It is full of advice.
Can you make a make up with the eye ecstasy from Pat McGRATH?? I know you love her palette but nothing bout these 2
Thank you
Take care
Stephanie from Paris, France.

Hey beauty learned alot from this video hugs and stay safe
I was having so much issues with the Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist. Definitely trying the last tip. Thanks Mel!
Thanks gos u the first one that understands hyadrunic asid well💘
Hello! I was wondering which sponge is that? Thank you! Loved the tips! Xo
Beautykk xo Sonia Kashuk sponge from Target :) they are great
Thanks for good tips! I find that dotting the sponge with setting spray after doing my make up lifts the make up off? Is the sponge suposed to be dry?
When you get the neulash how long does it last ? I want to get that one or the revitalash. Currently using rapid lash .
I recommend Caroline Hirons blogs and videos. I am not a Dr Dray fan but each to your own
Omg these are amazing tips!!!
Always here for the early content from you!💖💖🌷🌷💕💕
Does the spray sponge technique ever lift your foundation?
Michelle TR I just use careprost like once a week. $ 30 It’s a prescription though. Not recommended for lighter eyes.
I’ve been using Babe Lash for almost a year. My lashes went from short stubby and invisible to long and thick (but still pretty transparent. Sucks to be a blonde sometimes). They look like falsies when I have mascara on. Not prescription. So glad there are non-prescription options.
I love buffing my makeup
Very cute top. When all this is over, I'm doing lime green square nails for my own "Mel" look.
Professionals say that you should have a damp face (like after washing your face) when applying hylaronic acid, it’s supposed to aid in absorption :)
Yay! Love this collab!
Thank You for Sharing!
Fav eyeliner: MILK in Biz..navy helps my older eyes look more white ;) Love you! xoxo
What sponge are you using in this video???
It’s perfect for my hooded eyes.
such Great tips! I gotta try the castor oil for my lashes! Thanks!
This was really useful.
Good tips! We love you too Mel!! Have you seen fenty new cream bronzer sand blushes! Omg will wait for your reviews before I buy but they look amazing! I need a new cream bronzer, since Chanel discontinued you beloved cream bronzer! 🙏
This video was super helpful! I’m definitely going to try the castor oil trick!
I would have liked to have seen Rosa does Makeup in this collab😁
