The t10 bulbs are hard to get out and put in in the reading lights. I fouod pry tool helped get them out

I have this style of interior light unit. I managed (after quite a few minutes) to get out one of the map light. I put in the new bulb, which must have been around the wrong way as it didn't work. Pulled out the new bulb, and the female part that the bulb goes into went into the unit... How the hell do you take the actual unit off? I can only get it half out but not all the way. Help anyone?
