My wife and I just spent a whole month up in the Boise area. More specifically in Star, Idaho. I stayed with my childhood friend. I am from that dreaded state California. However I am from the most conservative part in Bakersfield, California. My wife and I found your traffic to be terrible, without a doubt. It appears your infrastructure, roads, is ten years behind the building of homes and rentals. I love conservative traditional values. I am retired and was thinking of moving out of California, as I do not like the way our state is headed. However our infrastructure has kept up with the building boom. So much so that there are people moving here from Los Angeles which is 1.5 hours south of Bakersfield. I did look at some of your cities outside of the Boise. Such as Emmet, Weiser, and of course McCall. Those places looked interesting 👀 as they remind me of what Idaho used to be. One final point I wish to make, all of this California hate does not serve your community well. In fact you say how friendly your community and state are but it doesn't feel that way. You all need to get over your hate as it does nobody any good. I have been reading the comments over the past year from about 7 different Realtors in the Boise area. All the Realtors show the Boise area without any traffic. So your pictures must be taken early in the morning. Anyway the greater Boise area has many things going for it, but your infrastructure is not good at this time. Just an honest observation after having spent one month in your area. September 10th to October 12th of this year. My friend wants me to move there, but I don't know at this point. Thank you pointing out the obvious.
Thanks for sharing! Yes Traffic is a big problem that I really try to highlight in many of my videos. Its a big reason me and my wife live in Kuna. Kuna has done a much better job at preparing for the growth. Star has too many people for the limited amounts of roads in and out of Star. As for the hate on Californians. I agree. Most people in person are super friendly and welcoming. On youtube you get lots of people purposefully following agents and commenting unkind things. Did you run into any hate when you were visiting?
Leaving Idaho was the best thing to happen in my life. Boise a town for going nowhere.
Why is that?
@ blatant racism to friends & family, extreme religious harassment, law enforcement has nothing better to do then stop people j walking. People here are the definition of trash that’s why all there known for is potatoes. Live music is good and so is boise downtown city atmosphere but living there is god awful. Fun to visit though.
So people moved from California. Those people jacked up housing prices and are complaining about lack of food diversity.😮
Most of those responses were from the people who have lived here a long time, including people that I’ve known here since I was a kid. Are you looking at moving to Boise?
I came from the Seattle area (don't worry, red voter here), and one of the things I like is how easy it is to get around. Traffic here is not too bad, and the drivers are great. I guess having come from where the traffic is horrible makes things look different.
Yeah for some of you its much better here. I hear seattle can be absolutely terrible when it comes to traffic. What city are you in?
You're def the type of guy to make issues about politics^ Aka reason Idaho is awful. Learn to mind your own buisness simple as that. Old folks think they run the world when they cant even run....
My Parents retired in Boise back in 1991, I get why people compare the current landscape to how it was. I traveled to Boise nearly every year for Christmas and or summer visits. Mom and Dad are both gone now.
Honestly, I half planned to also retire in the Treasure Valley, not any more. It has gotten too built up, that small town vibe is gone. Harris Ranch was ranch, there was only a smattering of houses on that side of town. Nampa did not 'almost touch' Boise. I like progress, but as a soon to be retiree, my wife and I are looking for something way less populated.
Thanks for the insights! Totally understand that, Emmett is always an option, as well as many eastern parts of the state!
@@movingtoboiseid Live in Salem Oregon, we like the greenness of our Valley, but not the Politics. Don't know why everyone complains about the price of homes. Everywhere is more expensive compared to 8 years ago. Want cheap housing?, consider the boondocks of Oklahoma. Anywhere worth living that is safe and has decent schools is going to be expensive.
The tree lined streets and proximity to downtown of the North End, and some great streets with historic houses, is really nice (politics aside).
Yeah its hard to beat! You can't deny the charm and beauty of the Northend. Would you add anything to the list?
I live in Boise and love it. My two biggest complaints are that the politics are too conservative and all the California hate. Boise is a great community, however it suffers from some small minded ideas.
Thats a fair take, thanks for sharing! The hate on Californians is definitely here and a few people said that same thing. What do you think is too conservative?
@@movingtoboiseid Because I love Boise I am disappointed when anyone feels unwelcome here. Most of that, in my opinion, comes from the far right political narrative. Not to discount that it can't come from the other side also. Change is hard for people and Californians have become the scapegoat. Change is happening and it's better to embrace it and have a voice in what the future of Boise looks like instead of throwing a fit and complaining about it not being what it was 30 years ago. We live in a fun, exciting city. Lets be welcoming and kind. Boise is special and unique and we can keep it that way if we choose to.
@@StemC3lls thanks for sharing! Its great for people to everyones input on living here. Hope to run into you around Boise!
@@StemC3lls Also curious by your Stem Cells name. Is that for a reason? especially health related?
I used to live in the Seattle area, and one reason I moved here was to get away from the liberal politics. Seattle was an OK place when I moved there in 1990, but it's a cesspool now. Lots of homeless encampments, crime, remember chaz/chop... Just take the train from SeaTac North, and you'll get more than your fill of leftists. That's the beauty of the United States. Pick a place that best matches what you want, move there, and enjoy your life.
The people that moved to Idaho crack me up and just need to stay home they move here to get away from the politics that they created but forget to change their voting habits
Do you know people that moved here and voted the same way?
Boise is a college city. Its automatically communist.
Thanks for sharing. What makes Boise communist?
I am considering moving to Boise to be with my son and his wife. They are soon to have a baby. They love Boise for the quality of life and could have picked any city in the western US to start a family. He works for a national consulting company that cleans up contaminated water.
Theres reasons to move were because the small town atmosphere the friend hello on the street that often continues into a conversation. They also like the diversity, since it represents the real world.
I must agree. I was responsible for beliefs of living in a country where everyone has freedom no matter who they are. Boise has a heart and will fight to protect their rights for their freedoms.
As I am from inner city Houston. I know diversity can live together.
Boise is just going through growing pains.
Thanks for sharing! I hope to see you in Boise. Reach out if you have any questions!
Hey Brady, how often do people move to the treasure valley without high paying jobs? With housing prices and wages it seems like a bad idea for me to come. You mentioned that you can save money on areas like taxes and utilities. Would you say that lower income people are making it okay as new comers?
It completely depends on your situation, budget, what would be low income, what you need your monthly payments to be, down payments, etc. I’d be happy to chat through your specific situation, but really people from lower to higher wages are fine here. My wife’s a teacher and they don’t make much money, and plenty of her coworkers are doing just fine!
Man, you're giving me emotional Whiplash. 😆
Haha what gave you the whiplash! 😂
@@movingtoboiseid While I appreciate your candor, I do not want to move to a place that's hell bent on becoming the place I want out of. I get a different vib from each of your vids.
@badcompany3057 interesting! Sorry that it’s confusing. The people that responded I read there response which will have a different perspective. The same thing remains true, we can’t tell the future and 60% of people moving here are republican, but if 100,000 people move here that’s still 30-40,000 people on the other side. Often people ask if it’s turning into a Portland or LA and I feel it won’t. If it does that wouldn’t be for 20 years and even then I personally doubt it because of the way Idaho is. Can I clarify something else, I think I’m confused what was different?
It's pretty much like Southern California except with winter.
Other than taxes, state politics, and cost of living I assume?
@@movingtoboiseid Actually even though Idaho's property tax rate is .65% vs .7% in California, California has controls on reaccessment and increases. We are actually re-locating to Post Falls.
Yeah Idaho and California property taxes can be very similiar, Income taxes are the bigger difference. Nice!! Great area, did you two find an agent up there through UA-cam?
@ Actually Idaho property taxes are much higher.
Never been to Boise-- but would like to visit. Question: Does it have a major University in the 'Leftist' part of town? I live in a pretty clean / sane Conservative city. But the second you take that turn into the University district, suddenly it's rainbow flags, BLM, Free Palestine and Harris-Waltz signs everywhere. It's not just the students but the Professors and Administrators who brainwash them. So, it's not so much Californians fleeing their Marxist state and bringing their politics with them. It's the University (what I like to call, Communist Indoctrination Mills). They are what's turning your town Left-- even if you're in a red state.
My suggestion for all of us... is to contact your governor, representatives and legislators and begin demanding change. These schools (which are often the biggest employers in town) hire at rates like, 98% Liberal. That's not right. We need to bring balance back to our universities, so students are exposed (not indoctrinated) to a variety of social, political and economic viewpoints-- including Conservatism which is the majority mindset of most people living in Idaho.
There's no reason a red state like Idaho simply needs to accept that their schools will be run by anti-white, gay worshiping Stalinist antisemites who worship mother Earth and hate America.
Thanks for the insights! Are you moving to the Boise Area?
Is it just me or do you really sound like Napoleon Dynamite?
Gossssh Freakin Idiot
Boise is a great place to live. But the wildfire smoke combined with heat in the summer is a bummer. Also, they are ruining the greenbelt with all of the scooters, electric bikes, and idiots who ride on both sides of the path.
Yeah the smoke this year was especially bad. It felt like winter having to stay inside. Thanks for the input, especially on the greenbelt. Any crazy stories you’ve seen with that?
Sounds like crying conservatives to me. Boo hoo. Grow a pair.
Are you saying that me and the people who responded are crying conservatives and need to grow a pair?
Round a bouts are great......the people, not so much behind the wheel. I live in Olympia Wa....watched many 4 way intersections turn to RA....so much better.
I would also rather live in a freedom state😊
haha isn't that true! If everyone used them right it would help. Are you eyeing Boise, or just curious about what happens here?
Washington is a freedom state ? Seattle is a woke, liberal septic tank ! Your woke, liberal anti police ideas kill people !
I haven’t watched the video yet but I’m sure number one thing is going to be Californians.
I think you will be surprised ;) Let me know what you think at the end
So Boise is crunchy?
What does that mean?
@@movingtoboiseid Granola, liberal, Portlandia
@@dg1019 haha not portlandia, it has just become more liberal. Still Conservative as a whole.
I want to come visit
Come on down! Where are you watching from?
Also..do not give way to peddling riders.....that's their choice.
You mean bicyclist?
What do you mean?
I would say biking. It is the number one concern for those of us who are cycling to work and for exercise. Often cities but in lanes and they are protested.
Bicycling is great exercise. If my city has side trails I'd get a bike. But I didn't want to get hit by a car so I don't bike. It kinda sucks.
Go to sleep bro, you look tired man!
I think I just have one of those faces, but I’ll get some sleep for ya ;)
