Used to stop there for a tin of soup with my dad when I was a lad, maybe 5 years old. We'd sit under the tree for shelter n heat up the soup on an old stove. Good days. I've made a bacon butty a few times with my tribe. Good little spot on a slightly quieter track than the main one. Gotta love the West Pennine Moors. Never tire of the views and the wind up there. Funny that I spotted you lads walking back to your cars in the morning, only 100m away with Billy in the woods Atb Rick n Billy
Hi Rick, ahh mate great memories of father and son time together, those memories will never fade away Rick, lovely to hear that. I bet you have been everywhere on there pal. I'll have to do more exploration of them, see what nooks and crannies I can find. I'd always seen it when walking and kept saying I should head that way. A cracking spot and as I say fab memories for you. Haha yeah was funny when I read the text at the car pal. Big thanks for watching buddy 🙏
My Flextail pump kept switching on in my electrics bag. Not great given the heat those LEDs put out and a flat battery to boot! I 3D printed a cover for it. The bag it comes with keeps it in place.
Hi guys, yeah it's so annoying isn't it. It turns on at least one while I'm packing. That's a fab idea, I'll see what I can make for it! Thanks Allie & Maria 👍
Morning Chris, thanks buddy. Yeah a spooky place to pitch for sure but you know what, it felt peaceful. It was a top night dude. Thank pal for watching 👍
Really good spot that. I think I've seen it too on me travels but never walked near it or just walked past it on the way to another spot. Will keep my eye out next time I'm up there. I've got the same toaster and it's great. I use it at festivals with my trangia mostly. I get sweaty head too. I just wash my pillow each time but I sleep with a wooly hat on so that helps. I'm never fully inside a sleeping bag so hoods fine
Cheers Phil, yeah it's a spot I've fancied for ages and finally got to camp it! Yeah it's a nice bit of kit really, I'm warming to it each time I use it. I'll have to try it with the trangia. Yeah I wear a hat too but still seems to stain it. I'll just not have to use the hood. Cheers Phil 🍻
Hi Phil mate, thank buddy. Ahh now your the second person who said that. Do you have anymore info? I'll have a look on Google if not mate. Thank you for the watch and tracking down the name Phil 🙏
Great video Ant, I love watching your camps on The West Pennine Moors, because it's where i mainly go. In fact I'm pretty sure I've pitched in exactly that same spot. If it is, that ruined farm house is, (was) called Pimms Farm👍
Morning Alan, thank you very much buddy I'm glad you enjoy them. Yeah it's a great place isn't it, plenty of exciting places to find. Haha that's cool, as I say it's the first time for me there, I'm sure I'll pitch there again. Oh good stuff mate, so it was possibly an old farm, I'll see if there's anything online when I get chance. Thanks for watching Alan 👍
Nice quiet camp with good food. Nice little spot that Ant. Try a sleeping bag liner so you can pull the hood section up around your head/shoulders and protect the bag material. Bung it in the wash when you get home! Nice one Ant
Hi Joe, yeah it was ace pal, we'll be heading back there I'm sure of it. Yeah I do use that fleece inside it but don't seem to work, I seem to move my head out of the fleece hood. I'm gonna try the pillow over the top idea pal. Cheers Joe 🍻
Great sleek edit Ant, and the moorland was so still and melencoly. In hill country graves were sometimes walled in by small enclosures, your example well, I wonder if the upright stones were old larder benches utilised as markers?
Hi Harry mate, thank you! Yeah it was so quiet pal even the road, you couldn't hear the cars, it was fab. Yeah the more I read from comment on here it makes sense. That's a good shout about the larder benches, interesting 🤔. Thanks matey 👍
Hello mate, thank you, yeah a real relaxing camp, had a good chilled out time. Yes, I am too pal, it's cooking whatever I put on it very well. Cheers for the watch 👍
Hi Ant. We really do have it all on our doorstep nice to see the beautiful moorland. Another great camp you guys had. Some great cooking too. Looking forward to the next adventure 👍😊⛺
Hi Cath, yeah we are lucky where we live very much so aren't we. Yeah I like the Moorland the more I camp on it. Thank you Cath, the food was most enjoyable. Got an amazing video next week, can't wait to make it this weekend. Cheers and have a good rest of the week!
That's my kind of campsite. Superb video. That's a heck of a lot of stone for what at first appeared to be a small building. I'd put a tentative date at around the mid 19th century the interior cement render would indicate that, plus the age of the trees which I'd put at no more than 200 years given where they are. As for what the buildings were used for is anyone's guess (or Dr Google) they could be farm buildings or peat cutting. I very much doubt even in the heathen north you plant your bodies in the rubble of demolished buildings 🤣😂If the 'gravestones' were down here I'd say they were window sills, flooring or door thresholds (although a bit thin) that someone in the past has stood up.
Hi Si, thank you buddy. I knew you would enjoy this one pal and I also knew you would help with the history too! So 19th century right.. I wasn't too far off then dude. Never thought about the cement to be honest, a bug give away I bet. Yes a good shout, I'll look it up if I can on Google, always a good tool. Haha I wouldn't trust us Barbarians up here, we would sleep with your food and eat your women hahaha! Yes, makes sense the door or window frame idea mate another good shout pal. Big thanks Si on the help buddy 🙏
Hi Ant your absolutely right we do have some stunning country side in this country we live in . That French Army F 2 reminded me of the tents we used to buy and use back in the day ..... 30 Bob waxed canvas wooden pole tents and a candle to keep it water proof . A pillow case or extra bag to cover your sleeping bag head space may slow the discolouration down . That toaster I'm still not sure like I said in the last video is it worth the carry ? . Great video Ant looking forward to next Adventure .
Hi Tarmac, yeah we definitely are pal. Every direction there's somewhere to go that isn't too far away. Haha yeah the green army men tents 😄. Yeah I'm gonna try a pillow to cover it like you and Anders said, top idea that. Yeah it's really lightweight the toaster mate, makes some crunchy crumpets and toast. Thanks buddy for taking the time to watch again and for your comment 👍
It is not discoloring, it’s patina! Honestly tho my camping gear is used with such a low frequency that I believe it will get out dated before it gets worn out. My cheap 25 quid down jacket has seen more wear time than my 600 quid bag ever will and it’s just fine…
Haha yeah! Wow, I'd be using that bag if I had it dude haha. I must admit I wear my old Rab jacket more than my new but I think it's because I don't want to wreck my new ones lol. Thanks pal 👍
Fab little overnighter there buddy. No sign of that big dog .... I could have sorted that for you !😂 I think you should have pinched a little vocal snippet out of my video of Mishka howling and added that in during the night 🤣
Lol that would have been funny and also spooky as anything 🤣. Yeah it was a class little campout mate, great food, company and pitch. Thanks for having a watch, I really appreciate it Mark 🙏
Get a silk sleeping bag liner Ant. They have a hood on them, weigh next to nothing, are comfortable and can be chucked in the wash after each camp. They add a couple of degrees warmth to your bag too👍 I have something for you, by the way. Will drop you a message soon 😉
Morning Benny mate, yeah good shout, I do use the fleece inner but normally take it out come spring and summer so I'll get one of those mate, thank you! Oh ok, thank you Benny and big thanks for watching and commenting/ helping.
Absolutely beautiful area Ant! What a great spot to camp in. About that sweat, I reckon you have too much clothes on if your head gets sweaty. Or maybe you should use some baby powder 😂 Seriously you could use a pillow case on the top of your sleeping bag which is a lot easier to clean. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Anders, thank you buddy, it certainly was a relaxing spot pal. Omg! That pillowcase idea is just the ticket mate, what a great solution Anders. I will incorporate it on this week's camp and give you a shout out dude, thank you!!
Beautiful moorland spot Ant. I reckon those buildings on your way in are farm houses of the workers not necessarily the farm owner. It looked a bit like the ruins of Malkin Towers the home of Demdyke the Pendle Witch and her family. 1612 era.
@@AntSurviveTheNight They were just scared women on their own trying to get by in a hostile world of religious intolerance and bigotry with a demented Scot on the thrown scared of his own shadow who saw demons everywhere. Morning Pat, yeah I do like the look of them and they are considerably warmer but like all canvas tents its the weight. I don't mine if its a local camp and you aren't wandering up hills or mountains but for camps like this, this is the perfect weight. Cheers, Ant 👍
