Hey, thanks for doing this tutorial. I'm going as a clown this weekend. While I am by no means a professional, thee are pretty fantastic tips to follow. Thanks again!
I too am a brand new Joey, living in Canada. You can see my other character on the profile picture. Thanks for the tips and instruction. I do my first clown gig in 2 hours and starting the face NOW! Cheers.
hi there,I've always been fascinated about the circus, and saw a circus on TV in the 70s with a clown wearing a very sparkly costume in a rainbow of colors, one clown in a circus here on you tube,,called Rudi Llata, would love to know more about Rudi Llata, and his beautiful costumes,I've heard that every clown has his own style make up,and would love to see more on how they do there make up too,the video of Rudi Llata was in French ,I think, wish it was in English or English captions, what a transformation!!! love your video thankyou for sharing, have a great day, take care.👍🎪🎷🎺🎸
Well Hello Adam, Cocoa Bean the Clown here. aka Claudio Lopez. I commented on your mop bucket routine and just had to see what else you have. I am an Auguste clown and I actually learned some things from this video. 1, the use of your head gear wig protector. (my wig is also yak hair) and the use of a eyeliner. I have used the pencil but I like your idea better. I use the Pro nose. I just don't like the string look.
Looks good and smooth...But I was just wondering what was that powder in a sock or a bag, something that you're using on your face? I'm going to be a clown and magician soon. Great tips and good instructions but sadly, couldn't hear what you're saying because I'm deaf and trying to learning how to put a perfect make-ups. :)
The sock is Johnson's Baby Powder. Because the makeup is grease based, it does not dry on its own. The baby powder will absorb into the makeup and dry it so that it will stay put and not smear, or come off. You can even go swimming with clown makeup on if it's applied correctly. When buying baby powder, make sure that you get the one that is only talc. You don't want any cornstarch in it. it will cake up on the makeup, turn your white yellow over time, and the makeup will actually begin to slide off your face.
Going to try this now. I've never actually done any clown make up successfully. I like how you use your fingers as your main applicator tool. A lot of videos I have seen said you needed all these brushes and that gets expensive when you only do make up once of twice a month. I have Mehron makeup pallet, what can I use to make it smoother for application, mix in baby oil? I'll have to rewatch these and see if that is what you said you did. I'm hoping to have cleaner lines and more control with my fingers. I tried using cosmetic sponges once and it was a mess. Also, as a girl already having a extensive make up collection, would it work just as well if I used my regular foundation or do you recommend using pancake like make up for flesh tone? Could I also use regular eye liner pencil for the black parts as long as I keep sharpening it and keep flakies off of it so I get clean lines? And I don't know if you ever use glitter but how would you go about applying that?
+Meeboo Balloons I think we covered most of this on Facebook already, but one note, Don't mix baby oil in with your white. I tried that right before this video for the first time and it sucked. It was hard to apply and keep non-streaky.. Watch my whiteface video for how to properly apply clown white. You want to take a bit and warm it up in the palm of your hand. You can also check out my superspeed makeup video and see how I do it on the auguste makeup.
