Thank you everyone for tuning in! Apparently the chat is closed (first time we're doing this, really...), but we're happy to answer questions here in the comments!
First premiere for me as well, and was an amazing start! Solid candidate for AOTY already, love the central doomy part with the flute solo, and the restart gives you so much energy! Wanted to know if you'll play songs both from "The Spell" as well as from "This Is The Sound" in the upcoming tour, and if you plan to share the stage with other musicians or to rely to pre-recorded sounds for parts the 3 of you can't play at the same time. See you in Rome!!
@@marcodambrosio4711 Hi Marco! Yes, we will definitely play material from both albums. We try to invite guests whenever possible, although it can be difficult -- guess we'll just have to learn some more instruments... We try to avoid pre-recorded sounds as much as possible. And we cannot wait for Rome!
5:45- onwards brings tears to my eyes. It’s been a few years since I’ve heard that much emotion in a vocal performance in any metal album. Stunningly beautiful.
This is fuxking fascinating. Entrancing. It feels older than it is, in a good way. As a long time metal fan, I appreciate still being genuinely surprised by a fresh sound, so thanks for that
Definitely. I like avalanche and acoustic death , redemption, , under the oak tree and love pt.2. You can really hear her ranges in her voice.Shes so talented and has such a beautiful voice
The way this is sung, makes it feel so sad but also solemn, when we finally meet death. Leaving loved ones but also suffering and pain behind, the mood of this song catches the theme perfectly. All in all a beautiful song
Honestly, this is amazing, even more knowing that the public was the one to vote and choose this song to be the next released. And what a great surprise, one hell of a song, catchy chorus, beautiful lyrics, astonishing instrumentals. Kudos to you all!!
Everything about this song is incredible! And 5:00 on to the end - some of the best, powerful and emotional music I've heard. Anna's voice is so good here! Especially the 5:15 to 6:00 mark!
This gives me ‘the Gathering with Anneke van Giersbergen’ vibes sooooo much!! Wow!!! Anna’s voice sounds so much like Anneke in this song and a part of the album. She is a great singer! She got even better in Cellar Darling. and I love the vibes of the songs in this album ❤️
This has a very, very The Gathering-like feeling to it. Someone might have commented the same, but I don't really care, writing down the overwhelming feeling that came to me after the listen.
i've just discovered this band and i'm in love ! It reminds me a bit of Opeth and Katatonia but the vocals are just so beautiful ! I like the art too, i'm really looking forward to your next songs !
I love this band so much. What a beautiful project between these friends. A difficult situation was made into a very positive one when this band was founded!
I couldnt believe when I read in the comments that this was Anna from Eluveitie. Her voice has matured beautifully, I have a feeling this will become one of my favorite band in very little time... As is The Gathering. LOVE THIS!!!!
i am becoming a fan very quickly. and the artist from the carach angren videos makes everything so stylish and emphatic. you also have a nice tendency to make the songs feel all emotional at the end and thats so nice, thank you Cellar Darling
Oh hell yeah! Will be buying a vinyl copy for sure. This is exactly the type of music that screams to be listened to on vinyl. Very analog. Loved it and look forward to hearing more!
I love the mood of this song, the sombre proggy feel. The three tracks so far show even further musical progression and ambition. Each song is so different yet so Cellar Darling!
I like how they let the music breathe a little, it gives it a nice open feel. It's not constant singing. Like Frank Zappa said, "Shut up and play yer guitar!"
There aren't a lot of heavier bands that I can get my wife into, but when it comes to proggy folk metal/rock, Cellar Darling is certainly one of the best. We are both hooked.
Honestly I love that you guys pulled this off so well. The mixing, the instrumentals, and god Anna’s voice is breathtaking. I hope to hear so much more with this band in the future! Much love from Texas.
Sounds a lot like Nighttime Birds-era The Gathering, though with a bit of Progressive Rock tossed in the middle. Quite a neat combo, I'm really considering purchasing the album. And many thanks to Nuclear Blast, it seems you guys got a lot of talented artists releasing great stuff this year - already got Beast in Black's From Hell with Love and Avantasia' Moonglow, and now I have Cellar Darling's The Spell on my radar. Keep 'em coming. :D
I fucking love this dark and deep sound that the band is cultivating, away of the initial sound that was too much like Eluveitie, not bad at all but this new Cellar Darling sounds like Cellar Darling and noone else
I think this sounds a bit like mid-to-late 1990s The Gathering, especially the vocal harmonies. But the instrumental section (especially the flute solo) sounds closer to a classic progressive rock like King Crimson. So yeah, a rather unique mix.
Favorite female vocalist of all time! and especially after hearing about Anna's condition and kept fighting through it never gave up pushed through it #legend #beautifulvoice #musichealer #inspirational #exeluveitie keep up the good work love the content and can't wait to buy the next cd and shirt greetings from Ohio :)
I will never forget meeting you guys at RockHarz after catching one of Merlin's drumsticks :D that was just awesome. If the rest of the Songs from this Album have the same Quality this might become my favourite Album of the last 10 Years. It's just impressive how many different Genres and stylistic methods are used. And every song seems unique, no repetition everything just so well thought through. As a Musician i can just give you all my respect for so much quality in every song so far :)
It was stunning to watch. The artstyle is beautiful and the music is exactly my taste. I liked that you put more "deepness" into your songs and that this album got a progressive touch. Maybe someday I will be finally able to see you on a concert :)
I didn't listen to their first album a whole lot, don't know why, but damn though, this song, and the whole album, is amazing! I have to go back now to see what I missed from their first release. I love this song in particular from the new album, super great melodies, lyrics, aesthetics, everything. Always liked Anna's voice and she shines here for sure. Captivating song.

Idonno how healthy to listen to songs like this when im constantly having an existential crisis, but i just love it way too much to stop listening to it
This sounds incredible. I saw them in Philly last night and they played this live. The flute backed by the heavy guitar and drums was perfect. My only disappointment was the set was just 30 min. I want to see them headline so badly
Okay wow the new album is absolutely addictive, I can only describe your sound as eargasm and I mean seriously, the melody, the bass, the vocals and the animation of videos are captivating. Love Eluveitie and love the fact that Cellar Darling are taking their own path. P.S. Its just perfect how the visual art matches the sound
I'm digging the dark melancholic feel of the song. Also love that you guys bring a bit more complexity and progressive elements into this album!
Starting from 5:05 and leading forward, Anna's vocals give me chills every damn time. Such power and versatility in her voice.

Her vocals were good with Eluveitie but with Cellar Darling it is great. She hits these high notes very similar to Anneke Van Giersbergen.
I feel the same...
A nice coincidence. Love the Gathering feeling of the songs. Still they have their own sound.
Oh yeah! I hear vuur in this song

I have never heard of Costin Chioreanu, but the videos he made for Insomnia, the Spell, and now Death are spectacular!
You must check out the previous album, iirc he also did the one for Six Days, one of my favourite songs all time!
And now Dignity by Opeth
The way this is sung, makes it feel so sad but also solemn, when we finally meet death. Leaving loved ones but also suffering and pain behind, the mood of this song catches the theme perfectly. All in all a beautiful song
Anna is so nice. I met her with Eluveitie in Salt Lake City. Amazing vocalist and performer and such a sweetheart.
