The rails are located at a distance of 3 meters from each other. Do you know any technical and effective alignment system. Well, I do it empirically with a tensioned steel wire.
Apart from a 3m indicator arm, I wonder if you could make something like a Johanson Mikrokator mechanism with the wire by twisting them and installing a long needle arm in the middle to amplify the reading caused by the untwisting of them being pulled apart
