some one commented the john Deere #6 chopper is the 550 rpm Then that is what my dad used I even had one in the end of 1980's into 1990's but can't recall the model # but it looked like this one & and was 550 rpm I like that chopper it really could fire it to the back off the wagon!
Dad had one, didn't matter how the corn was, tall, short, standing, lodged, long as went snail speed worked fine, as soon as tried moving faster plunged up
The 730s and 830s had an optional 1000 rpm. You had 540 or 1000 only, no switching back and forth. The 830 and 840 industrial tractors came with 1000 only to run the scraper (chain clanker). Ford also had the choice on the 6/7/8/981 and early 2000/4000 Selectospeed tractors by simply moving a lever. No shaft change needed.
As soon as I saw the 450 with the # 12 the first thing I thought is the # 12 is 1000 RPM. We went from a 540 # 6 chopper to a #12 chopper with 1000 RPM. I hope that went well.
Very nice. Always enjoy watching those old choppers at work. Does a pretty good job.
Didn't oils he it's 😢😢😢😢😢

That's some tall corn. Made it hard for the chopper to keep up
I ran a 2 row IH wide row on my 400 in low gear with the TA back.Definately all the ol girl wanted
Doesn’t like today’s corn! Great video
Golly gee, that's some good corn.

We had a chopper like that. I have a mf combine like yours, too
Those were the days
it is a Missouri silage corn, 10 to 15 feet tall
the cutter was made in the early 60's, i am sure, 3010, 3020, 4020 would have 1000 pto
Yeah many of the JD's had 540 and 1,000 rpm shafts I know the 3020 and 4020
What kind of tractor would run that thing on 1000 RPM PTO?
It is for 540 rpm PTO only
4020 John Deere 806 OH 839 or 930 Case
IH

Nice
Sounds like Roger Welch speaking?
Decent
Can you imagine doing 600 acres with this thing?
Yes like the good old days
red power defficent
needto oil chains and spout attachment.
Most tractors at that time could only handle a 1row chopper.
Not ours, 30 Massey with 44-6, papec chopper!

Having fun fellas
we had a piece of shit ih one row pull type chopper.then after a few years got a new holland 718 chopper.
put a 1086 ih tractor on there.
Really weird design for a chopper. I wonder how it compares to New Holland.
Not as good. My dad had the same chopper and we had the same problem
