  • In one of William Shakespeare's most celebrated plays, the ageing King Lear (Michael Elliott) decides to divide his kingdom between his three daughters with a test of their love. Believing Cordelia's (Bridget Collins) sincere expression of love has failed his test, the King banishes her along with the faithful Earl of Kent (Matt Penfold) when he protests.
As the kingdom fractures, the deceitful Edmund (Kris Robertson) frames his trusting brother Edgar (Mark Hoskin) for the planned murder of their father the Earl of Gloucester (Humphrey Skett).
With the now-mad King on the run, cared for by the loyal Kent, his Fool and Edgar in the guise of "Poor Tom", his two wicked daughters Goneril and Regan (Jenny McQueen and Alison Fielding) plot his capture as Cordelia plans to invade with a French army to rescue her father.
The first 15 minutes of Trinity Theatre Company's production of "King Lear", directed by Francesca Gilpin and starring Michael Elliott in the title role.
