Thank you thank you thank you!!! I'm a woman whose husband is out of town and got that sucker changed in 20-30 min TOPS! Amazingggg! It'll be much quicker next time since I know what I'm doing now. And it's true that woman's small hands can get to it better. Thanks again!
That is Awesome!! 😊
HELL YEAH BROTHA !!!!
With the help of your video & my wife's little hands we got it out after 10 minutes... although she didn't pull out the entire module she just was able to twist out the bulb from that metal housing...
Either way we got the light out in 10 minutes with the help of your video....
The driver's side light is going to be crazy but I'm gonna wait till i upgrade em all .
THANKS AGAIN FOR THE VID- YA GOT MY LIKE👍🏻
That is great! You and your Wife have made my day! Thank you!
Well done sir. Very helpful.
Very nicely done!
WTF was JEEP Engineer's thinking????? There is NO room for the most common DYI fix.
I would like to say, do not take off the metal clip! The bulb should turn a quarter turn counter clockwise and pull out. It is an H11 bulb. Mine is a Phillips H11 LL. If you take off the metal poece with the bulb with a screw driver, it will not go on and you may need to remove the bumper to get. it back on. I learned the hard way.
I literally couldn’t figure out the screw driver thing so I just tried to remember how I did the diver side. Luckily I remembered twisting before I started trying to pry anything.
Thank you sir! This was by far the most annoying headlamp I’ve ever changed lol
I agreed 👍🏽
Good video. Straight to the point and very helpful. One note: I have a 2015 Grand Cherokee Limited and when it comes to removing the headlight from its housing, it takes a quarter turn left (remove) quarter turn right (secured). So be careful to confirm if your headlight has the hook or if you need to make a quarter turn. Yanking it out with the philips head when a quarter turn is required will do damage to the headlight housing.
Thank you for sharing this information.
Thank ypu..very helpful!!
Very informative, but I couldn't quite see the movement of the screwdriver loosening process. Knowing this, I think I can tell my mechanic how to do it, lol!
I will say that it works best if you have someone with a small hand.
I didn’t understand that either. Once you open the cap for the housing, twist the bulb counter clockwise 90° and that will release it from the housing. Then it’s just a clip.
The light bulb is keyed just turn it a little bit and comes off.
Great video. I've changed the bulbs on my 2015 a few times and after much frustration and swearing, I end up asking my girlfriend for help because her smaller hands get right in there.
👍🏽
Lmaoooo same thing happened today 🤣🤣
I’ve seen a lot of videos on how to do this, and this is the best one of them all. I can’t fault others from trying but their videos are wither incomplete or don’t make sense. It’s not easy and wearing gloves and a long sleeve shirt will protect your skin from cuts and scrapes. It’s not poor engineering, it’s designed for you to bring it to the dealer and pay a lot of money to replace a light bulb.
Agreed!
Made in America yunk yard enemie super complicated just to replace a litle light bulb
Thank you for this video!!
Thanks bro that’s what I was gonna do is slide that out 🤓work at dealerships man was a pain
I followed your steps but how the heck did you get that bluish metal bulb fastener back into the hole to stay!? The slot/hook that you talk about getting in the hole, I don’t have that hole. I’ve taken multiple photos inside but can’t find one. And aren’t those metal tabs suppose to bend back inside the headlight to hold that bluish metal piece? I spent 2 hrs trying to get that dam piece back in but I can’t get it to hold. All my tabs are pointing straight up. Are some suppose to be bent?
I’ve asked in other groups and everyone is saying that isn’t suppose to pop out and that I now need to fully remove my bumper and headlight so that I can properly put that blue metal piece back in and bend the tabs back down. My wife’s going to kill me help!
I’m about to use adhesive at this point to stick that thing back on instead of removing my bumper. Do you have to push that thing on crazy hard? Or get it on then somehow push those tabs back down to hold it? I’m stumped
Was your hole for the hook at the top or bottom of the larger hole? I can’t tell if your camera angle was upside down.
I am sorry to hear about this issue. If that metal tab is not going back properly to hold the bulb in place. Pull the bulb out and rotate it until it feels like it's properly seated. That bulb must be in just right for you to lock it back in place. Unfortunately this is not a quick job. It can be a plain!! Just take your time and try to avoid removing the bumper.
The bulb screws into that blue piece nice and snug. But I can’t get that blue piece back into the headlight hole. Do the 6 tabs around the bulb just go into the hole? Or does the whole inner circle around those tabs push into the hole?
@Kevin-hh7jq
If you noticed on the video. I pointed out a small tab on the Bulb Housing. There is only one way for that small tab to mount back in place. It's a plain! And it can drive you up the wall if you let it. Once you get the tab back in the hole. You can lock in your clips
Oh thanks looks easier than other video
Very helpful thanks
Life saver! Thanks my man!
Just spent another 2 hours and Feeling pretty defeated. Was your metal tab/hook hole above or below the lights hole? And are those 6 metal tabs suppose to bend back inside the light assembly like some others are saying? Or does that inner circle around those tabs go in the hole too? 2 of my 6 tabs have now broken off from bending back and forth so much. Did u push it in or twist it in?
Thanks for the help
Hi
Kevin what did you do? I'm in the same boat did you get the clip in?
You always work smarter not harder! Good job!
Thank you!
Is it the same way for a 2019 model?
@heysus7041 good question 🤔 I have not ran across a 2019 yet.
@heysus7041 yes it is all the way up to 2020
Life saver!!!!!
Brandon how’d you get your blue metal piece back in now that the tabs are bent straight up from prying it out!? I can’t get mine to stay back in. Everyone is forums is telling me that those weren’t suppose to bend out and that I now need to remove the whole headlight, put that piece back in, and bend the tabs down so that it’s secure before rotating my bulb back in.
Wooooowwww changed this bulb 3 times and took hours trying to get my hand in there when this is all I had to do.
Thanks for the video! Saved a lot of time for me.
