I forgot to add when in metro and there is announcement in the train for emergency for everyone to Leave if don’t understand the language you will remain in train while everyone is running for their life 😢😢
I understand your concerns and bad experiences, but pls bare in mind that english is also a foreign language so if we can learn and be fluent in english then we can also be fluent in french...just learn it and keep practicing and you will be fluent and there are many learning videos on youtube to help...
The deal with Quebec is it's NOT bilingual. It has sort of been bilingual in the past but it's now strictly French. So going there and speaking English is like going to the US and speaking Spanish. Sure.. a lot of people might understand you but it isn't the language.
This doesn't mean I agree with it, Montreal IS a bilingual city by makeup whether it likes it or not, but the reality is the current government wants French ONLY and has gotten enough of the population behind that notion to carry it out. Anyone moving to Quebec should have at least a working vocabulary of French and be studying towards fluency, or you just won't be welcomed.
@JourneyWithJoyTv I'm sorry you had such a frustrating time in Montreal. It's especially frustrating when you make an effort to learn the language and find the resources to do so are terrible. Ironically I have found people in France to be more welcoming to English speakers than Montreal
We Nigerians always have issues with everything? What about if all province in Canada speak French? Will you be saying this Go to Germany everyone must learn German if you want to work
Point of correction it’s not about we Nigerians complaining it’s about me sharing my experience there by creating awareness to people out there about the challenges they might face if they move to Quebec.Read through my comment section of this video you will see this video was informative to a lot of people. Those in Germany did they tell you it’s easy for them to learn the language
Thanks for sharing, and one agent is promising me milk and honey in Quebec. I rather be in a non English speaking country tan to be in an English speaking country and suffer language barrier. This was very helpful 🙏🏽
Thank God the church is able to step in… I can imagine the frustration and emotional trauma.. but God is always providing a way of escape for his own 👍 You need to consider both the advantages and disadvantages of a province before moving…
Yes thank God for using the church to help and we are forever grateful for that.Yes we need to research a place before moving to avoid regrets and frustration
Everyone with the way they cope with other languages they might be facing same challenges but just trying to cope.I did work but with so many chanlenges and getting the job was also hard..Thanks for watching 🙏
Why do you stay in Montreal?:- did Canada Immigration insist on residency in Montreal as a condition of immigration? If you have PSW training you can easily find work in eastern Ontario and the Ottawa Valley such as in Pembroke and Renfrew but you need a car there. You could also find work easily in Ottawa where they have public transit. You should talk to your friends at your church to ask if they could help you resettle in a better place for you in eastern Ontario which is not very far for you to move:- perhaps they have a sister congregation in eastern Ontario who could help you. You seem to belong to a Catholic parish so there are many Catholic parishes in Ottawa and one of them might be able to help you relocate to a more friendly community.
I relocated from there 2 years ago am in London Ontario now.I made this video so people will know the chalenges there as a non French speaker..Thanks for your suggestions anyways
@@JourneyWithJoyTv so which province are you based now? When I moved to Montreal I had to learn French especially because as a nurse you can’t work there without French knowledge. I plan to move in the near future.
@@LifewithSoni Waoh I’m glad you were able to learn.Life is easier there when you actually speak the language..It really difficult to get employment there in all fields if you don’t speak French
That reminds me when I went to China, I could not understand anything and I ate always the same thing, but nevertheless I met interesting people and was happy.
Hi..I’ll be moving to Quebec in two months with my family, my husband speaks French and English well good for him, I only speak English, I’ll rate my french to 2% 🤣 my kids are 2 and 4 years they only can speak and understand English. Language barrier is one of my challenges which I do not want to repeat since I lived in Chonavfor 5 years using translation, I know how much frustrating it is living in that kind of system. To your experience which city in Quebec would you recommend is better for people who fear struggling like you due to language Barrie and kids??? Thanks
Hi..Thanks for watching..You can reside in Dorval or perrefonds situated in Montreal because majority of English speakers resides there. I don’t think you are going to face so much challenges since your husband understands French but I suggest you start learning and continue to learn French language when you finally move.As for the kids they can easily learn French since they are still very young.Congratulations and good luck on your journey to 🇨🇦
Most accurate description of living in quebec/ montreal as a non French speaker.. If you don't speak French it's very challenging. You will experience prejudice . They do it in low key way..
One of the questions I have been asking myself is why do native English speakers want to settle in Quebec knowing that 90% of all Canadian provinces are English speaking provinces? Why do you all make your life miserable. I personally would never do that. No tike to learn another language unless I'm being forced to for a particular reason.
Yes you can but you will need to start that school first that brought you to Canada and your school should be a designated learning institute then apply to a new school you want to change to get accepted into your new school and then notify the IRCC about your change of school. If you need a detailed video on this drop a comment I will gladly do. Thanks for watching 💗
To save a few hopeful people, having lived in Montreal for 1 year, and being raised Canadian. I can tell you that not all of this is true. Yes you will struggle to integrate into the culture if you don’t know French, but you can absolutely live in an English community. West of Montreal (Kirkland) is very anglophone, so is westmount, and Decarer. There were cases when I spoke French yet was responded in English - I didn’t like that very much, but it is what it is. Not only this, we have a lot of exchange workers from South American countries to support our fast food industry so there is a work. It just might not be the work you are looking for. If you are still hesitant, I’d say become at least an A2 level French, or move to Alberta.
That's the Quebec reality. Instead of supporting this brave young woman and helping her family achieve a successful settlement, they harassed her out of the province.
@@JourneyWithJoyTv The problem is they want to force the politics together with the language. I'm in Quebec now and suffering the same intolerance, even though I speak French. All the best for your new beginning somewhere else.🙂
