Her tone here was so beautiful and light, her agility was amazing, she could do an easy C3 then easily fly high to a Eb7. Definitely her best past of the voice here was her Upper chest voice, whistle register and head voice. Post-prime was where her Low notes became reaaaally good and where she gained more control over her whistle and head registers. Although she suffered some deterioration on the chest register and started to use different vocal technique (whisper register and often use of breathy falsetto)
@@whitneyhouston1122 naurr she used whisper in place of falsetto until merry xmas.. i noticed that she was straight whispering through some songs from her first 3 albums. especially emotions
To me this is the greatest vocals ever demonstrated by any singer. Incredible in so many ways.those Vision of Love F#5's are beyond breathtaking ,just wished she maintained her music box tone which was richer
There's just something about Mariah Carey Belts that I can't explain, but it's soooo clear compare to other singers... I really don't know how to explain it.
One of my favourite things about this era will always be her 'legendary' D5 in 'Underneath the Stars'...there's something about the power behind that note that's just...unbelievable.
Her best era in my opinion. Her low notes were so supported and dark and rich. Her belts were also improved and not as tense as the emotions era. Her vocal stamina during this era was just so beautiful and prominent.
Mariah Carey-Raw voice Emotions-Violent voice Music Box-powerful middle-high range Daydream-effortless high notes Butterfly- husky tone & beautiful breathy
1995-1996 were her golden years. Tokyo dome concert was her best concert ever .OMFG how in the fucking hell human can hit all those notes in one night????
i think 1993-1994 was it i love the music era daydream but i feel like 1994 was at its best because its a blend of both of the 2 eras. just perfection. But my favorite era of her is either butterfly or debut or music box i still love daydream its in my top 5 !!
i think if she had kept that good techniqe she had in 1990 and 1994 she would still had been fine and prob the nodules would had prob vanish. my nodules are vanishing there drifting away 😂😂😂
Actually She Had A Great Technique During Her Prime even her post prime era,her vocal cords is so tired and plus she has nodules during her younger years, that is why during 1997 her voice became so raspy and husky
This was her best era vocally for her upper belts. She legit strained on like one upper belt this entire era lol. Which was when she went for the G5 in hero in Paris I believe & phrased a G5 on the word ‘survive’
This era was like a two edge sword. It was the greatest era she had but she was worked non- stop so she can finally push past Whitney. It was obvious in the glitter era (1997-2000) how much it had a toll on her voice and the change not saying she couldn't sing in this era but not like before. I miss this songbird supreme right here!
Love the early era so much. This is when she didn't have to rely too much on other vocal regusters and other vocal techniques. Just simply pure belt and tone.
Mariah's voice here just amazes me, someone said she only touches G5's and G#5's, which is absurd, mariah especially in this era could have easily belted above an G#5 and sustained, this shows us why she is the "Songbird Supreme"!!!!!!!!!
The era when she changed pop singing forever. Flawless despite some dubbed moments (just realized "feel so alive" belts sound EXACTLY the same in MSG 95 and Tokyo Dome 96 here, it's even more obvious when they are played one after the other, another dubbing probably).
what a description of her vocal analysis.. :) this was the era where she developed, but unfortunately my girl worked to hard and gave too much :( i.e. Butterfly era 97'-98.......
Wow..this evokes memories of me, as a stunned 11 year old in 1991 watching Mariah on a show in England and sitting there with an open mouth, in total wonderment at this voice, that I could never imagine being possible....and that's when I fell in love with music! A talent like no other since then!
My favorite era. Her voice was powerful, clear and she could easily manipulate it. Other than Whitney, no one could come close to Mariah during this time
Randomly I just thought to myself, what if Mariah sang We Belong Together during this Era????? 0.0 omg!!!! lol It's perfection now, but it'd would be beyond unreachable at the concert!!!! ;) MIMLUVINS!!
This is such a wonderful video! The Daydream era was undoubtedly her best era, hands down. At this time, Mariah was famous on demigod proportions and couldnt be touched. I still dont think this was the best era for her whistles, but thats understandable as her lower and chest were so strong. Great vid! well looking forward to your next one, im working on a complete range one at the moment which i hope yourll enjoy
i would say music box or debut (besides the straining in the high notes and getting sick thing especially in music box.) daydream had great upper belts but she had pitch problems and had breath problems and messy placement and phrasing was not good as it was and lack the quality it had in the previous years. music box and debut she sing in the center pitch and had great quality overall and great breath support especially in music box. merry christmas album showcases great vocals that were great and performances in that era. daydream in 1995 was great she had great placement and very resonance in 1995. but 1996 just a little less resonance besides the upper belts but singing regular messy placement. but overall great especially in upper belts!!
@@MARTINBABEH Um her pitch was great in 1995, and was just a bit off during the end of her Daydream Tour. Especially with hitting the F5 "call my name" run in Forever, she'd often hit it but flat. And her breath control was pretty great, with the exception of forever considering it is NOT an easy song. She would've struggled with that song in 1993-94 greatly just saying. But her breath support did improve considering she sustained the Without You note way better than 1993 and 1994. And she struggled way less singing that song in 1995 than in her Music Box era. Her placement did sound a bit off towards the end of the tour. It was perfect in Msg. And her phrasing wasn't bad either, she was just experimenting a bit more with it. Her voice still sounded gorgeous, but then again tone is subjective so take that into account. Overall Daydream had better agility, runs/riffs, resonance, supported belts, transitions, she struggled way less, and her vibrato was still stunning. Merry Christmas was eh live wise. Music Box had great vibrato though.
@DanielAvilaAGT Thanks. Yes, in 1994 she was recording the album, but the Daydream 'era' itself started after it was released and btw Hero in Spain is from '94.
I know ive commented here before but i came back and had to comment again. This is her best era vocally i love everything about her voice here. just pure effortless belting! I like the performances of VOL, AYNAF, Hero, AIWFCIY,Emotions better from this era then there original ones.

The key is Bb Major; Mariah meant to sing D7, rather than D#7 like in the earliest performances of this song in 1991 and 92. However, she went quite sharp, and since people hate to say D# for some reason, this video says Eb7. I agree that the note is D#/Eb, but I think D# is better because Eb is actually a note in the song, whereas this note is is just a sharp D.
@@shaniiphone yes Eb was sharp I don’t actually know what note she was trying to hit, the 3 previous years(1993) she hit a A7. I think she was going for a D7 but she on the last notes she went a semi note higher and ended with a flat Eb minor
@sentfromupabove I have to agree with @Sim882 here. Her voice is AMAZING during this era, but her voice is clearly thinner than before (1990-1994). In her debut and Emotions era her voice was extremely powerful i.e. if its over grammys. The power she hit those F#5's with is breathtaking and hard to do. Yes she was still very powerful in this era but in a different way/tone her upper belts had that "bell like"quality 2 it in this era while earlier it was more like a freight train. lol
@Conner526 i argee with you on the lower and chest register but in my opinion her head voice was best in the Daydream era (maybe charmbracelet because she used her head voice alot), but her whistles were her best in the Glitter/Charmbracelet era because at that point she could pefrom all her notes live from "Emotions" to "Heartbreaker" to the opening note from "Dreamlover" as well as some new killer notes like on "Bringing on the heartache" and her note during "the star spangled banner"
Man!..this was around the time when here tone was just so buttery LOL...96-99 were my favorite years to hear her live. It seemed like it was so much passion and soul with her voice then...and the runs and riffs and adlibs were SO on point...
Daydream era was a great time for her. Also love her tour entrance. It's like a UFO or something she's coming out of. Her hair was cool too. I don't have the daydream CD yet, I might get it tommorow because I'm going music shopping. I heard some daydream songs such as the hits off the album and daydream interclude. This was really her chest voice at its peak. Even the high notes were effortless for her. I believe her peaks go like this: Lower Register: Butterfly/Rainbow (It never was bad) Chest: Daydream (Effortless and very high) Head Voice: Hard to say, she really didn't start using it until recently. Whistle: 1990-1994
Lower register seemed to be declined, but the others actually were on fire, speacially her mixed voice, sound extremelt balanced, free, opened and yet fully resonant.
I'd agree. Vocally it's my favourite era (along with Merry Christmas). It had just enough Mariah for everyone. Her vocals sounded absolutely perfect. I'd say 1993-1994 is where I can say both Mariah and Whitney were exactly neck and neck. Daydream was amazing, but the oversinging was a bit much though I won't lie.
EXCELLENT!! (^.^) faving this. ps: i personally consider half of the year 1994, to b part of the daydream era. After all.. @TheCelineDionArchive As for as im concerned, Daydream is untouchable. I must admit that at a certain point in time, Emotions was my favorite album as well. I just dont understand why it was panned by many critics. Theres other jems on that album, such as "So Blessed", "Till the End"... "And You Dont Remember", etc. Also, I cant remember what tour it was, but I enjoyed seeing Celine dressed up as Michael Jackson. I thought it was so cool.
@sentfromupabove Where did the decimal come from? lol Why does E7-F#7 equal 1 note? There is 2 notes there but 1 is semi so that's a half.. So F7-F#7 is a half plus E7 is a quarter of a note so that's 3/4 of note... What? LOL So it's 5.175 ;)
@LoboAscuridad Yes DD and Emotions are 2 albums, this vid shows her range from 1995-1996 (the Daydream era) when she released the Daydream album itself. It shows the range she showed during those two years it doesn't matter what song she sang. You've asked this question before lol! 7 notes means 7 notes! An octave is for example from an E2-E3 = the same letter but exactly one digit higher. I wrote down 7 notes because she hit all of those notes in a series in that one whistle adlib, get it?

@LoboAscuridad Yes DD and Emotions are 2 albums, this vid shows her range from 1995-1996 (the Daydream era) when she released the Daydream album itself. It shows the range she showed during those two years it doesn't matter what song she sang. You've asked this question before lol! 7 notes means 7 notes! An octave is for example from an E2-E3 = the same letter but exactly one digit higher. I wrote down 7 notes because she hit all of those notes in a series in that one whistle adlib, get it?
"MrJamman07"
C3 is "Always Be My Baby" MSG
I mean there is something from every era that I love, but around this time she was just amazing. Excelling through every register!
Never saw this one of yours till now! congratulations again! :D btw, I'm pregnant :D with twins.
Her voice here was pure perfection. =D
@CDionLive Yupp I getcha. Btw I love that sustained Bb6 though lol :)
Her best eraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!! OMG!! SHE HAS A GODDESS VOICE!!!
Thank you :)
While she was definitely still a powerhouse, she became more head voice/falsetto instead of powerful full voice, her belts were amazing though
@musicguy713 True, I find the F#5 at 6:01 amazing, she basically speaks in it!
