First saw Gotterdammerung at Eno, or was it still Saddler' Wells at the Coliseum. Got the records from the Kentish Town library. Immediate reaction was to love Caterina Ligenza's Third Born. I never saw her. She was to sing Senta at Covent Garden, but didn't turn up. Remember reviews of her mentioning her bel canto Isolde, and her Siegfried Brunhilde, which she sang with ' if that is possible perfectly controlled abandon'. Still love to listen to her in this. But now also nocked out by Crista Ludwig's Second Norn. Unfortunately never took to Dernesch. We had her too much at Covent Garden in the 70's as Marschalin, Fidelio Leonore and Farberin.
