We gave up visiting Italy years ago. We came to the conclusion that if they're being nice to you you're being ripped off but you haven't figured out how yet, if they're not nice to you you're not spending enough, and their ticket machines (rail or parking) never work so they can fine you. Sad but that was our experience each time we visited.
That's a shame but I can imagine it's hard to relax when you aren't quite sure. I just got back from a week there with my girlfriend and it was brilliant, but we had a handful of encounters that thankfully we avoided because I knew what was going on. Hired a vespa though, 50 euros for the day, top notch experience.
How long did it take for you to plan the trip? I'm all new to all this , would you share your routes to Greece ? I could send you my email any help would be appreciated thanks again and safe riding
Nice one Jack, the Italians are motoring lunatics. I was there in 2014. You're right when you say they're not out to get you ... but they really don't care if they do. Chris
Cheers Chris that sounds about right! I don’t plan on going back anytime soon, the north was great with the Italian alps but that’s because it’s mainly Swiss & German drivers 😁
Hi there, yes it was off season so it was all very easy. Generally at 5pm everyday, I search on google maps app ''hotels near me'' and then I try and find somewhere in my budget within an hour. Sometimes there's a great one around the corner and I just head there and have a early night, other times i'd push on a bit. Only had a few tricky nights, Barcelona at midnight it took me 6 hotels to find one. italian countryside I had the same problem took 3 hotels. hope that helps 😎
just adding on if you try and only use the hotels-com app/another one of your choice, you can collect lots of free reward nights in one place and I was getting about £12 discount each night on average for 'member' pricing
@@bfitz4021 sure, on average only 170 miles a day. Sometimes i'd go on the motorway to catch back up on where I was hoping to be ready for a ferry the next day, but otherwise no motorways just hopped from place to place

Vespas look så cool because the are så cool. Perfect for an urban (or Amalfi) warrior.
Cheers Mark, they certainly are cool. I keep eyeing up the classic ones

Sight seeing, riding a bike and idiots on scooters don’t mix, glad to see you’re still alive 👍
Thanks mate it was a very interesting mix, glad to see you here

Hi Jack - did you book all accommodation on the go? Any advice?

Really appreciate it! One last question - how many miles were you averaging a day?
