How exciting this convention is. I wish I could one day go, but I’m the only one in the family who has a collection. X)

I agree with your review, especially in regards to more diversity of vendors and guests.
Honestly, Pokémon is THE money maker and it's only getting bigger, so it makes sense that vendors would prioritize that the most (including the convention organizers). lol
But that aside, I think it's also pretty difficult for them to get as many guests as they would like for a plethora of reasons. However, the more demand for certain guests, the more I think they will try to invite them to the convention in future shows.

Loved your take on this, Brooke! Collect-A-Con is coming to a city near me, so I’m considering going! I’ve been to similar events and I agree with all of your constructive critiques.
The diversity of community influencers, franchises, and vendors is so important! Seeing various people reflected as influencers is so important because that is the true representation of the community. Especially for those who have been excluded or discouraged from certain franchises. In this day and age, finding these influencers is easier. I also love seeing different kinds of collectibles other than cards and plushies AND I love learning about other franchises through these events.
I also love your take on bootlegs. While I know some people don’t mind them, it’s not something I want in my collection. As a community we need to protect and respect each other and allow collectors to make informed purchasing decisions.

Thank you for the vlog!! It's great to hear about different cons around the US! I will add to the bootleg discussion that if I know a con is not enforcing anything regarding bootlegs, that's an immediate no for me. I don't mind bootlegs and unofficial figures (I have a couple in my collection!), as long as they're clearly marked as such. But otherwise, I hope this con gets bigger and better! It would be really cool to have one completely focused on collecting!!

Love your video I went to my 1st one last year and attending collect a con Long Beach couple of weeks. I mostly attend for voice actors .
I'm super happy that you and Curt had fun at your 1st Collective Con in 2023, Ochi, that's always magical and so special!!!! I feel the same way too when I first went to Collective Con back in 2022 with my best friend and her husband- the convention was super amazing and so wonderful as well as having a bunch of cool merchandises and vendors!!! I got my 1st ever Super Sailor Moon Q-Posket, SM Crystal S3 poster and Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura and & Love Live keychains there!!!! OMG, I literally tried to go there again this year but got stuck with paying bills again unfortunately, and I was totally surprised after my friends told me they also saw Cristina Vee in 2023's event because I love her so much!!! I wish I got a chance to meet her and got a Sailor Mars good signed from her, hopefully it will happen for me very soon!!!! I also do agree with you on the Pros & Cons- they should include VIP lanyards for guests to attend the convention instead of the wristbands and making sure to have more diversity for the booths, everything else is also pretty good too!!!! OMG, I'll be a part of Collective Con again next year at Jacksonville in 2024 this time as an Art Vendor to open up my art shop, so excited and I hope you get a chance to see my shop and buy some goods there, I got bunch of good stuff you'll totally love!!!!
Completely agree with you about bootlegs, it really annoys me that so many sellers are able to sell bootlegs at conventions. For the most part, I only buy from legit sellers I already know at conventions, because when I first started collecting figures, many of the ones I got at cons turned out to be bootlegs. I also used to have quite a few anime plushies that ended up being bootlegs. One of the most popular sellers at conventions in the UK, would mostly sell fake anime merch, but luckily I think they are selling a lot more legitimate products now. But, at one of the last comic cons I went to in London, someone was selling fake Disney Thomas Kinkade art and it looked so bad.

Attended the first ever collect-o-con in Texas a few years back and it was nothing compared to what it has become. It's defiantly outgrown itself and most defiantly needs bigger venues with more space to help deal with the crowding as well as management cleaning up the approved vendors that attend.

That's awesome that you got to meet Veronica Taylor and Cristina Vee. I met Cristina for the first time last year and she was nice. The only actor who was a jerk was Eric Stuart. The actor for Tuxedo mask is coming to Washington next week.
In Tasmania (the island state near the Australian mainland) we have Comic Cons in two of our cities Hobart and Launceston. I think Tassie should have a Collect A Con, unless they already have one. Great First Time at the Collect A Con, Brooke and Curt. 🐺❤️🐺❤️🐺❤️

Had a lot of fun watching this Ochi 😊. The Disney cards you bought look like Weiss Schwarz cards, they look very similar to my Madoka Magica trading cards and I don’t know how they do it, but they make trading cards of everything 😅.

Thanks for this video Ochi! I am traveling to Denver to visit friends and go to collect-a-con in October! I had never even heard of it either until this year, but when I saw it I immediately contacted my friends in Denver asking if they wanted to go if I came to visit!
I am a bit disappointed in all the bootleg booths you saw :( Hopefully the Denver one will be better but at least I wont go in expecting all authentic products! I do collect some pokemon cards, but like you I only collect the pokemon I like. I dont really care about their rarity or anything like that XD I guess if its all TCG stuff in Denver I wont have to spend too much money haha! Keep up the amazing work Ochi!!! 🥰

This was such a great video! I haven’t been to a lot of conventions but would definitely like to check out more. It’s good to know what kind of things to look out for. My local malls now are stuffed with bootleg anime merch, but I would not expect that at a convention for collector’s. I’d definitely be interested in convention that was truly for all collectors - dolls, anime, tcg, toys, comics…but I guess that does cast a wide net. 😂

Super informative video!! It’s sad when vendors that sell bootlegs get to the selling floor. Unfortunately it happens a lot. I see it here all the time. It sucks when you’re going there hoping to find goodies and you end up finding booties instead. I also hope collect a con can branch out to more than just TCG. I love TCG myself, but I’d wanna walk into a convention to find all kinds of different things. 😊😊

I can’t believe there was a booth of just bootlegs! That is heartbreaking honestly! People go to cons to buy so much shit and shouldn’t have to worry whether they’re grabbing unofficial merch. 😭
If what that one vendor said is true, then it makes sense why there’s so many Pokemon booths. So there’s mosdef lots of room for growth and potential to make it a true collectors convention all across the board from tcg to dolls/figures/etc!
So much potential and if they take these critics to heart this convention can be HUGE! I can't wait to see where it goes!

@@pokeetris I was shocked at all the bootlegs. I hope they correct that. I wish they'd work with more collectors outside of pokemon to help them evolve and grow into something spectacular.
@@ochibawolf If I'm being honest, I don't think there's a way you can avoid bootlegs? Every convention I've gone to has had bootlegs unfortunately. Unless you're anime expo or something massive that can hire a team to vet through vendors or go industry only, it's a pretty unrealistic effort to try. Especially if your budget isn't large enough to cover the fees and contracts to bring in only industry vendors. That's just my personal experience working with conventions though. I've been doing this type of stuff for about 3 years now actually lol.
I totally agree about opening up that product interest. Getting Figpin like you mentioned would be a huge step. Even those bigger plushie vendors and such.

About to start the review part, so before I continue on with that… Just based on what you showed and then later you said what I was thinking. Seems more of a “Pokemon tcg” convention. Lol. Lots of tables with the “same” thing just different owners with slightly different inventory. A tad bummed there didn’t seem to be a lot of anime figure booths. But I still can’t wait to be able to go to Denver. I still wish I could have gone to KC with ya’ll.

Pretty awesome how they've partnered with Gallery Panda... subsequently banning all other vendors/artists from selling anime prints/wall-art. Oh wait...NO. It's not.
Sailor Moon Gachapon is even hard to find in Japan. Sailor Moon Store in Harijuku and an Animate in Hiroshima are the only ones I was able to find this past April.
We get some here occasionally which is why I am always looking out. Did you watch my Japan Vlog # 2? Sunshine city has a bunch of Sailor Moon gasha usually!
Anime Nebraskon had some a few years back. I scored 2 Luna/Artimus coin purses.
All those company’s were invited but you can’t force them to come. Don’t blame collectacon.
