Thank you for all of the useful information Curtiss King. 👍👍
No problem Tristan! Glad you are finding the information useful!
Thumbs up, just for the Zeppelin T-shirt, bro
Bro you are a God!
Thanks King
so what about digital distribution ,is all of this connected with like ONE rpm, tunecore etc?
Hello! I would be very grateful to you for the tip!)))
I - DJ.
I want to record the mixes of the popular all over the world tracks and upload them to UA-cam, Facebook. Doing live shows. Please tell me how to solve the problem of copyright in the complex? To not talk to each author individually. Sign up for some music network? ASCAP, BMI? Or any other company? Please tell me what to do? Thank you! I do not really know English and because I use google translator)))
I had signed up with BMI for free.
How do i send music out to companies? I just got ASCAP,
What types of companies?
Like McDonalds or get people to play music in there commercials. Better so, how do I get a placement?
Atlas
These videos are helpful. I think all new artist should tune in.
Thank you Michael Parker!!
Thank you man....I was just viewing a video of some chick (who actually worked for BMI) and she came across like she was 'mind-selling" BMI but playing on what 'could' be negative like signing up with ASCAP etc.... thanks man for be objective and honest by saying they both are like the same.
as a producer, when i lease or sell exclusive beats how will they get me my money if the artist uses a different name as the title ?
By using a website like Tunecore, you can pay for options that allow any music using your instrumental be detected. Once detected on UA-cam and other services you will be paid revenue
Thanks a lot
Is tune core the only option so you can have your instrumental detected? How about sound exchange or when you register the instrumental with your PRO?
Curious as well.
SEVENRAXX OFFICIAL Most companies like Tunecore, Beatstars, CD Baby and a lot others will give you what is called a IRSC code. This code is “burned” into your song. BMI & ASCAP will ask you to enter the IRSC and that is what is used to track your plays all over the world. Hope this helps.
OK, what if you were already signed to BMI when that offer came ? They wouldn't do the deal with you ?
Tomtheartist yea I was about to comment the same thing, I wanna know that answer too
Always love getting information from you, Thanks
+James Wylie thank you for tuning into the videos fam!
Learn so much from you.
+Curtiss King TV as a producer do I ask an artist permission to use bmi
Question. Does this apply if you used a "free beat" off of a site like UA-cam or soundcloud? In other words, if I use a free beat with my own original lyrics can I still use bmi or ascap to play the songs on the radio?
Nope, your song could get taken down, if you want to collect royalties from your song you need exclusive beats, even if you lease, the producer owns 100% of the publishing
The only problem I had when I first started I signed to BMI; which was free at the time, then I thought damn..... I want to sign on ASCAP theory "Musical" but couldn't because I was already signed to an organization and takes two years to get out contract.
sup Curtis so I have a question so say if I am a member of BMI and a rapper is a member of ASCAP could I still collect my royalty's from the artists who have registered on ASCAP???
bro ill send an email for this. please reply that. one love :)
Thanks for the info straight to the point very informative appreciate the wisdom extremely helpful 👌🏽👌🏽
basically they do nothing 4 the low budget artist expecially.lemme as u though say u got a beat and its sampled maybe license or not. does the percentage still go back to me or what???
Does the same go for producers or no? Somebody help me
Can you give us an update now that ASCAP has partnered with UA-cam?
Very informative
so if I do a verse for someone and they sale the song which one should I use ascap or bmi??
can you be a member of both ASCAP and BMI? Just not register the same song? I heard from a lot of music licensers that they get paid significantly more on BMI and ASCAP misses a lot of royalties.
TheyDontSee no. You can only belong to one.
Thank you answered all my questions
oh shit i saw you at Low End Theory!!!! Ur dope
its lit
Which one would you recommend for producers: ascap or bmi?
I personally like ASCAP
Yo Curtis . I'm an aspiring music producer and song writer and on Ascap, it asks do I wanna join as a Publisher or writer . but Ima writer and a producer .I wanna sell beats . and beats with hooks on them. soo which one do I click to join ? Publisher or writer ? And another question . do i have to pay to get each beat copyrighted one by one ? Or does all my beats get automatically copyrighted when I join them ? How does that work ?
Troop Neutron Hey man did you figure out what to do yet? I'm having the same issue and don't know what to do next.
can you join BMI or ASCAP as both a music publisher and artist?? or only one?
I think you would have to sign up separately as a publisher and separately as a writer. So if you signed up w/ ASCAP you would pay $100 instead of $50
as an artist, should you sign up as publisher on ascap as well?
Yes
What's the difference between applying as a writer and a publisher? Should I apply for both?
You should apply for both. There are credits available to you if you ever contribute to the production or the lyrics of a given song in the future. It's a safe bet to go with both.
where can I find the 1st beat when u throw the hats down?
