The aya bossa techno version is the best one. Whenever i hear it my heart starts feeling a certain way due to nostalgia. Also anno be foul for using the intrumental version right after Asuka's hate filled break down at the end of ep 22 XD
Thank you so much..... It felt like watching the original version again. This song saved my sanity from all the sadness from this show. It's like the characters are dreaming of being loved.......
I am Korean. The first time I heard this song was on TV in the early morning at a business hotel near Tokyo Station in the fall of 1996, and I still can't forget the strange feelings of that time. I can't believe this was 27 years ago...
This is literally the only thing that kept me from breaking down faster than Asuka at the end of each episode ( also the one with voices freaked me out the first time I heard it lol)
I was under the impression it was just one standard outro song which was replaced on Netflix and I wasn't super frustrated, but knowing there were all these cool variations to experience in the original annoys me a bit
5:35 Rei's version is so soothing. I almost wanna call it perfect, unlike the Asuka versions lol 7:50 the Bossa Techno versions have to be my favorites. that piano is so sexy. But of course, nothing beats the last Bossa Techno version 23:57, it just bangs. remember finishing the episode and making a stank face, almost baffled by the idea that such a depressing end stretch of episodes ended with a banger ending. didnt have the heart in me to skip.

There wasn’t actually any budget issues for evangelion but rather time constraints from changing the show’s direction, rewriting episodes, and gas attacks Anno is just a genius 🤣
For those wondering about the copyright stopping people for experiencing these after each episode, it expires in 2029 meaning if the publisher cares enough they can reinclude these endings. The song was written in 1954 and creative works published/copyrighted before 1980 can only be kept copywritten for 75 years!
Never seen Eva but these covers are so sweet! I really love them, especially with having an vage idea on what the anime is about, feels almost bitter sweet really
I always found it funny that they did so many covers of this song for the show as if it didn't already have countless covers from all around the globe over the years I'm not complaining of course it's bound to happen to a song as good as this one.
I found this rumor written in this comment section. Director Hideaki Anno told Megumi Hayashibara (Rei's VA)to "Imagine killing a cat and sing about it." This is true. It was a well-known story in Japan at the time. Around the time the Evangelion TV broadcast ended, Hideaki Anno appeared as a guest on Megumi Hayashibara's radio show. This is what he said. Evidence is also available. The broadcast from that time is available on UA-cam. ua-cam.com/video/wiijWjl8qvg/v-deo.html I am not good at English, I will write a simple translation (automatic translation). 0:00~ Hayashibara : About Fly Me to the Moon. Anno : Yes. Hayashibara : Why did I get to sing? Anno : That's because you are a good singer. Hayashibara : Please don't try to flatter me. Anno : That's true. 0:10~ Hayashibara : By the way,Director Anno's direction is sometimes outlandish and interesting.Regular song productions don't have much in the way of emotional direction. For example, the Mi (E) sound is not generated correctly,' I'll give you instructions for that kind of thing. But director Anno said, "Excuse me, please sing like you're glad to be dead." Anno : Hahaha, is it really that crazy? Hayashibara : That's odd! lol Anno : Is that so? Hayashibara : Then there are others. Director Anno instructed, "Please sing as if you were killing a cat with no expression on your face." Anno : Hahaha, did I say that to you? Hayashibara : You said to me! lol Anno : Ohhh, I'm such an idiot. Hayashibara : And you said, "Well, let's sing it." But I said, "Wait a minute. Give me some time." Anno : (Laughter) Hayashibara : But that's beside the point. I really enjoyed the process of putting emotion on the melody in my own way. Anno : This is jazz or bossa nova, It's not so important whether you can vocalize correctly or not. Hayashibara : Yes, it is. Anno : Feelings are more important. Hayashibara : Yes, indeed it was. It was an interesting job.

Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, darling kiss me
Fill my heart with song
And let me sing forevermore
You are all I long for, all I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you
Thanks so much for this. What a treasure to have all of these in one place!
episode 10 and 16 are absolutely the best ones in the series. episode 10 going from an asuka solo then into her singing in 3 different pitches out of nowhere just sounds so beautiful. episode 16 is kind of the same but with 3 different characters also singing in 3 different beautiful pitches. im not good with music so excuse my lack of music knowledge
I love how for episode eight there’s the added, “I LOVE you!!!” xD
Thank you so much!
I watched it on Netflix, and they cut the music off the credits.
I finished an episode and opened you video to try to get the original experience.
Thank you
I am coming up on the final episode of the show, and this is my first time watching. I used your video to substitute the Netflix outros. Thank you for archiving these so that people like me can experience the show for the first time in the intended way. This has been a long and emotional journey for me and I want you to know that you’ve been instrumental in that. Thank you.
@EMANUELsonic goddamn, I was just trying to express a bit of gratitude to the OP for putting together a good quality, comprehensive video. What's it to you the way someone else watches the show? Some people may not have a DVD player, or are already paying for Netflix and don't want to shell out extra money just to watch a TV show that's already on there. Some people may not be able to afford that much in their entertainment budget. Pinning it on laziness is just ignorant and unnecessarily rude. I don't understand why you're so angry about the way someone else enjoys the show, anyway.
@@morpheusfishborne but…you can literally watch the show for free on anime websites and they actually include the outros. Like if mattered that much to you, you would’ve found a way…
@@bartdude82 dawg its been nine months, why does it even matter to you in the first place
@@morpheusfishborne lol welcome to the internet... Idgaf if it’s 9 months or 9 years, if I see a comment that I want to reply to, I’ll do just that. If you don’t want a reply, then maybe delete your comment 🤷🏽♂️
@@bartdude82 im just wondering what the purpose is of you commenting is. seems like you're trying to convince me to watch a show in a certain way 3/4 of a year after i already finished watching it. doesnt seem like a very effective strategy to me
The aya bossa techno version is the best one. Whenever i hear it my heart starts feeling a certain way due to nostalgia. Also anno be foul for using the intrumental version right after Asuka's hate filled break down at the end of ep 22 XD
There's warmth in my soul when I heard Rei sings this 4:28
Thank you so much..... It felt like watching the original version again. This song saved my sanity from all the sadness from this show. It's like the characters are dreaming of being loved.......
Evangelion is why I know the lyrics to this song off by heart.
I am Korean. The first time I heard this song was on TV in the early morning at a business hotel near Tokyo Station in the fall of 1996, and I still can't forget the strange feelings of that time.
I can't believe this was 27 years ago...
damm
Hit different
Strange feelings indeed.
Hearing Rei's episode 25-26 version hits differently after watching 3.0+1.0.
Guys, we must protect this video at all cost !
Rei singing is probably one of the best things this world has to offer to be honest
Can’t begin to express how much I love these endings and how grateful I am that the my first experience watching the series was the ADV Dub.
This is the video I was looking for. Thanks for uploading.
It was the first time I knew that there were so many different versions.
I almost wanna call it perfect, unlike the Asuka versions lol
7:50 the Bossa Techno versions have to be my favorites. that piano is so sexy.
But of course, nothing beats the last Bossa Techno version 23:57, it just bangs. remember finishing the episode and making a stank face, almost baffled by the idea that such a depressing end stretch of episodes ended with a banger ending. didnt have the heart in me to skip.
Asuka's version has its charm lol. But I agree Rei has my favorite version of it.
@@Onigirli yeaaa I won't disagree on that, Asuka's version is charming on its own. I just don't really enjoy how she sounds in the ending :p
I don't think I would be able to watch this series without some smooth elevator jazz to unpack the dread that every episode brings
Rei’s voice makes me fall in love😭❤️
THANK YOU!!! This is good for comparison purposes. I was always curious on the diferences
Thank you for having posted this. Currently enjoying my classic dub Blu-ray set right now and you’ve saved me by being able to look to this up
the last few episodes really hit hard especially with this playing as if nothing happened a few seconds ago
Imagine voice acting every single episode, and then Hideaki Anno ask you to sing this masterpiece at the end of the day
Shit this is insane! I watched EVA when I was around 10, but it is only until now that I realized every episode is with an independent fly me to the moon cover…
Like a complete psychopath. I like it too.
You watched eva at 10 that’s crazy are you ok? lol
@@Orzewastaken I did too. I'm sure most of us didn't know wtf it was about besides cool mechas killing monsters. My older sister didn't let me watch EoE though lol
Evangelion is a fine wine that ages well with time :D
so the budget was split between 26 versions of the song and angel fighting sequences, I get it now!
There wasn’t actually any budget issues for evangelion but rather time constraints from changing the show’s direction, rewriting episodes, and gas attacks
Anno is just a genius 🤣

@@trgabrielgf because literally the channel has set the minutes, making these comments pointing to them is unnecessary
@@tsuki.4.27 i posted this for my own convenience before the uploader put them in the desc lol
I love shows that have a different ending for certain episodes, but this is just incredible. 26 covers of the same song.
I love my NGE Blu-Ray Set, but i really miss FMTTM so thanks for this
im so thankful that my netflix broke down when i got halfway through the show so i had to watch it elsewhere. ill never skip those credits again
Director Hideaki Anno told Megumi Hayashibara (Rei's VA)to "Imagine killing a cat and sing about it."
This is true. It was a well-known story in Japan at the time.
Around the time the Evangelion TV broadcast ended, Hideaki Anno appeared as a guest on Megumi Hayashibara's radio show.
This is what he said.
Evidence is also available.
The broadcast from that time is available on UA-cam. ua-cam.com/video/wiijWjl8qvg/v-deo.html
I am not good at English, I will write a simple translation (automatic translation).
0:00~
Hayashibara : About Fly Me to the Moon.
Anno : Yes.
Hayashibara : Why did I get to sing?
Anno : That's because you are a good singer.
Hayashibara : Please don't try to flatter me.
Anno : That's true.
0:10~
Hayashibara : By the way,Director Anno's direction is sometimes outlandish and interesting.Regular song productions don't have
much in the way of emotional direction. For example, the Mi (E) sound is not generated correctly,'
I'll give you instructions for that kind of thing. But director Anno said, "Excuse me, please sing like you're glad to be dead."
Anno : Hahaha, is it really that crazy?
Hayashibara : That's odd! lol
Anno : Is that so?
Hayashibara : Then there are others. Director Anno instructed, "Please sing as if you were killing a cat with no expression on your face."
Anno : Hahaha, did I say that to you?
Hayashibara : You said to me! lol
Anno : Ohhh, I'm such an idiot.
Hayashibara : And you said, "Well, let's sing it." But I said, "Wait a minute. Give me some time."
Anno : (Laughter)
Hayashibara : But that's beside the point.
16:48 is honestly one of my faves for sure, especially the FLAC version on Internet archive and anything with a decent soundstage. Sends goosebumps
I love this version too,
