Musikalen Kristina från Duvemåla hade urpremiär på, och producerades av, Malmö Musikteater den 7 oktober 1995. Den alternerade sedan mellan Malmö Musikteater och GöteborgsOperan innan den fick sin efterlängtade Stockholmspremiär på Cirkus den 14 februari 1998. I Malmö spelades 194 föreställningar, i Göteborg spelades 125 föreställningar och i Stockholm 352 föreställningar. Totalt 1.000.917 personer har sett Kristina från Duvemåla på scen i Sverige.

last time I cried was when I saw the video for I Still Have Faith In You...
Today I cried again watching this recording from the original Malmö cast. It shows a sublime production.
Please please open your vaults to show us the entire recording which seems to be available.
After 25 years...
Saw this in Stockholm in 1998. I got to meet Benny and Bjorn as well. Benny was very perplexed as to why someone from Australia who doesn’t speak Swedish would want to see this since I wouldn’t understand it. Little did he know i had translated as much as I could beforehand using a Swedish to English dictionary and had read all the books. The best musical ever in my opinion.

My husband first became aware of Kristina, almost a decade after you wrote it. At the time we lived in Nebraska, and had been busy with our two young children, W had not paid much attention to the world outside our own. When my husband learned about the musical, he ordered the CD's from Amazon. He didn't know Swedish, but was immediately drawn to the music, especially Wild Grass (to the extent that he found a Swedish dictionary online and translated it) I had read the books, because I was 3/4 Swedish. He asked to read the books, and then every evening as we went to bed he would read. One night, well into the series, he looked over at me, and said "I really identify with one of these characters." I asked him where he was at in the book, and he said "Karl Oscar is going out to stake a claim for his farm." I smiled at him and said "Karl Oscar. I was wondering how long it would take you to realize you look at the world the same way Karl Oscar does." He couldn't believe I could see that in him, but they do look at the world very similarly. We saw Benny and BAO perform in Minneapolis for the Scandinavian Society's 75th anniversary, and thoroughly enjoyed that, and the informal gathering at the Dakota Club the next evening. That being said, Kristina is one of our all time favorite musicals. I still find myself humming one of the tunes, and the come out of nowhere, since it will have been weeks since I listened to the music. This prompts me to listen to it again. We flew to New York to see it performed in English at Carnegie Hall, both nights, and went to the reception afterwards (what a circus). Later, when it was to be presented at Royal Albert Hall, we arranged our schedules to be able to fly to London, and then had the luck to get stuck there when the Icelandic volcano stopped air traffic for several days (we spent our time taking several bike tours of London, and had a good time, once we knew we had seats to go home on the following Saturday). I have longed to see Kristina performed as stage production in English, but had determined that the next time it was to be performed, even in Swedish, we would go, where ever that was. Then COVID happened, and we heard it was to be performed in Norway. We are not traveling until COVID is over, but then . . . try and keep me away. P.S. My husband is even learning Swedish.

It played for about a year in 2014-2015 in Sweden with a new cast, of course. I saw it once (could only afford to go once sadly) and there was not a second I didn't have goose bumps, it was so amazing to see it live. I hope it will make a new come back in a few years for the 30th anniversary. I am dying to see it again.

Gåshud!! Tänk att jag har lyssnat om och om på hela albumet ända sedan jag såg musikalen på Cirkus i Stockholm 2015, och ändå är jag inte annat än trollbunden av denna video. Allt från de små skillnaderna i den välbekanta låten till ljussättningen, scenen, ansiktsuttrycken etc förverkligar låten på ett sätt som jag glömt är möjligt. Jag längtar efter att få gå på musikal igen när pandemin väl är över! Tack för att ni delar dessa klipp!

The production in Malmö was the original. There were changes in Stockholm some of them due to the much smaller stage. The cast is almost the same.

With "original Stockholm production" I meant the one with the original cast, not the 2015 version.

Äntligen fick jag fara tillbaka till Cirkus -99. Helt fantastiskt. Väckte sååå många minnen.
Var 6 år 1998...önskar jag fick se denna som min första musikal...men det blev Joseph the dream tecnicolor coat några år senare 😅 älskar Helen sjöholm,anders ekborg,dan ekborg och peter jöback i musikaler ❤

Jag vet, jag köpte de två första (normala) delarna. De är tjocka så det tar nog ett tag 🤣
