- Marucci recently became the first ever bat company to offer a "puck knob" option on their metal/BBCOR offerings. These bats even had to go through a completely different BBCOR certification from the original CatX BBCOR bats, and Marucci claims that these slightly modified barrels might perform even better.

Curious. Does the entire puck have to be exposed when gripping the bat? Seems that if you grip part of the puck you won't get the effect of the extra weight at the knob?

As far as we've seen, they don't shag the bombs. They grab em from the field, and maybe do a once over by the fence, but those balls in the parking lot are GONE. And the trees? Forget about it. Thank God they don't have to spend money on the Bats, because this channel's budget is probably 85% Champro Kevlar Pitching Machine Balls as it is 😁

Love seeing more variation to the bats. Nothing out of the ordinary has been done like the warstic knob or even axe, maybe the mako torque but this is really cool
If I still played baseball, I would be using that Select Power or the Icon simply for sound alone. Both of those bats sound so good IMO. I always liked that "dead" sound for whatever reason.

dear baseball bro, love your video! i think the puck knob is served as the counter weight, which will reduce sting WHEN you are NOT hitting the sweet spot. since you hit perfectly, you dont feel a difference. BUT if one try to hit the ball toward the end of the barrel to increase the total arm length of the bat, it will work i guess. but ppl can just buy a longer bat......

Puck knobs only work on wood bats, since it has to be a single, solid piece of wood. The puck knob allows you to redistribute the weight of that solid piece so you can use a larger barrel profile without creating a more end-loaded swinging bat, but this comes at the cost of either a shorter or a heavier bat. With a metal bat, there is no point to do this since the hollow barrel and different companies using different materials allows you to have whatever barrel shape you want in whatever swing weight you want. It is especially dumb to use one on a two-piece bat, since the entire purpose of that is to put all the metal weight into the barrel. By putting a puck knob on it, you are just shortening your barrel or making the bat heavier for no reason. If you want more swing weight in the handle, you just use a one-piece, and keep your bat the same length or weight.
The puck knob bats weigh the same still -3. However, if you create your own puck knob you can add weight to the bat keeping the same bat speed which means more force will be transferred to the ball.
@@ashtonyarbrough1105Incorrect. Drop 3 means that the bat weighs 3 ounces less than its total length in inches. If you want to keep the bat the same length and weight as one without a puck knob, you have to remove material from the barrel, i.e. barrel length. While the bat will still be, for example, 33 inches long and 30 ounces in weight overall, part of that length and weight will now be behind your hands, making your bat shorter. The only way to avoid that loss in barrel length is to size the bat up, which results in a bat that is heavier. The puck knob will not make a heavier bat any less heavy. The additional weight will still hurt your bat speed. All it does is balance the swing weight of the bat. This means you can use a turn model that would otherwise be too end-loaded for you to swing effectively. It's not about applying more mass to the ball, it's about getting a bigger barrel profile to make it easier to hit the ball.
You not thinking about the counter weight effect. The weight behind your hands just makes it different. I think it’s a dope option is you aren’t trying to swing wood.

@@sirusvader6304I have hundreds of swings on Blast to support my claim. My bat speed with a 34 voodoo with a puck knob is the same, or often higher, as with 33 voodoo. Therefore I have the bigger barrel profile you are talking about and more mass behind the ball.

Hi from Mexico, i like your videos. Since I was young I have used a bat with these dimensions 35/30 and 2 3/4 barrel (I am 45 years old).
When could you do a review of those dimensions? Old vs New ??? For reference, my bat its a Louisville Warrior. Before that a Easton Reflex Extended with the same dimensions.

Just bought my son the -10 Bonesaber Hybrid 30 in - 30 oz. I hope it still has pop beings it is USA stamped. I bought him a -10 USSA Victus Knox last year but I guess it was illegal for the league he was in. He's in Cal Ripken this year and USSA is legal! Hopefully gunna see some big dingerz this year!

The CatX isn’t underrated, it’s just the fact that the higher rated bats are 🤏 much better. It’s splitting hairs for most of the top 5-7 bats

I think the Catx Connect and the Select Power should be next to each other like Catx at 5 and Select Power at 4, I still think the Select Power is better than the Connect but it’s close. Keep up the good work man
@ErrorsOnly Bro, shut up. He has a good reason for why he said that he would choose the select power. Besides the Catx Connect is better than the goods because of its durability issues and it’s lighter for a 2 piece and it’s forgiving towards the hands, possibly better than the voodoo

I noticed you've changed the load of your hands slightly in this video compared to videos from months ago. Curious if that's had a positive impact on bat speed and/or exit velo's....
Pitching machine was just throwing faster so I had to get the hands higher and farther back

Not the first 35 inch bbcor. Easton made one back in the day called the Easton Hammer and you could get it in a 35. Black bat with red letters. One piece allow and it was fun to swing. You should definitely find one and do a video

What bat should I get if I am going into high school this summer. I swing a black meta and I like. It has good sweet spot and good pwr, but I want a bat that has bigger sweet spot and more pwr. What should I buy.

HOT TAKE: The select Pwr is the best BBCORE bat when you factor everything into it. Not very hot but can still pack a punch, best sweet spot, not a very heavy swing weight, is the most durable bat, and it’s the same bat made every single year. Its consistently been the same exact bat, with the same exact qualities, with the best sound and it’s only 400 dollars and you can swing it in any weather and not get your hands rung up at all, plus it works for every single type of hitter

I have a select Pwr with not many swings on it and it’s oddly pingy…is this normal?
the harder you hit it and the better the baseballs you’re using, the more of a “crack” it makes.
I’ll also add that it cracks towards the hands, and it pings towards the end.

It should affect composite barrels, but not alloy barrels. It affects the baseball itself more than anything.

Last time I experience a puck knob bat, was the Worth Gold Shell Slowpitch Softball bat and it was unique but “Jankee”
My friend got one of these puck knob bats (its wood tho), and honestly I hated it. Maybe my hand strength is not good enough but it constantly felt like it would slip out of my hands. I prefer the old school.

The puck knob only really makes sense on wood imo because it actually effects the weight distribution of the single piece of wood while with metal bats is an added piece that otherwise wouldn't be there.

I'm guessing these knobs are intended to act as counterbalances, in which case the effect would be more noticeable in a heavier swing-weight bat and if the knob had more mass..

@@baseballbatbros I doubt that helps, I use a similar concept on my cricket bats but it’s a good 2-3oz of solid rubber..
You could probably take a whole roll of hockey tape and make it weighted at the knob, just like the puck knob I’m guessing.

You guys should revisit the battle of the Atlas VS Voodoo One VS Cat X One Piece. *Definitely not because those are the three bats im considering right now* But if anyone has any recommendations I would appreciate that. I love lighter swinging bats with max barrel control. I want my money investment to be worth it.
I think the Atlas takes that showdown every time. Still hot, still easy to control, but more sweet spot than the other two.
