    I will never stress out my Macaw like you did in this video. That is exactly why I do not take my Macaw to a idiot of a vet. Id delete this if I was you.

    What is disturbing in this video is how the Vet said all bird toes bleed!!! Ur fingers would bleed too if u cut ur nails too close to ur quick, thats common sense.
    If there is blood, there is nerves, and where there is nerves it Hurts!
    A true good Vet should know how to trim a birds nails with the intent of avoiding making them bleed.
    I use a dremel tool so she never bleeds, I can trim her nail down to her safe size, and shape the nail round instead of a sharp point which happens when you clip them using a nail clipper.
    Your bird just like you, your dog, your cat etc should never have to bleed! If theres blood, theres nerves, and if theres nerves believe it Hurts!
    If ur gona clip, do just the tip and round the edges with the same clipper, at all costs avoid intentionally clipping to the size u want at the bird's expense.
    Be mindful and know if they bleed your hurting them!

    This is a horrible example. You never say this is a bad bird. you are a bad person. You put this poor bird at risk of potentially breaking his wings by not keeping his wings down to his body. You must hate birds! You are a mean person. You should never touch an animal. I've had macaws for 30 years and I've never seen a vet mishandle and speak this way and abuse a bird like this😱

      Omg this is so sad I hate that people do
      This, macaws don’t fly much as it is in captivity I would be mad at the O for doing this. Now working in vet med and being a rescue to macaws and such I totally get it but definitely could have handled the bird better etc. I never clip them just as I won’t declaw a cat but some are here for the animals some are not. ❤

    Ur so evil. The most evil and inhumane people I’ve seen. Look at the poor macaw struggling to get free. Even if ur intentions are to limit the birds’s flying, you should train the bird to not fly away from you not cutting off its feathers! Imagine someone cutting off ur arm, how would u feel. Macaws are very intelligent birds and can be easily trained to human needs. Don’t need to destroy the birds’s beauty and flying ability like that stupid humans

    There’s no need to trim a birds feathers, their nails don’t always bleed (unless you callously trim them too close and cut the quick on purpose) and this bird is NOT a bad bird, it just hasn’t been conditioned properly for grooming. You need to learn more about birds. It’s clear your knowledge on them is sorely lacking.

      Because if it were allowed to fly, it could cover over 15 miles in one go. Do you know what a Macaws natural habitat is? Not f*cking North Carolina where this took place. I do think this bird should exist only in the wild, but this one lives in North Carolina, and needs to not fly in order to survive.
      Also, the neck bone is the strongest bone in a parrots body. It's the safest place to restrain a parrot, and this doctor listed off the NAMES OF THE BONES. They know what they are doing. I know it looks rough, but so does surgery. It's still necessary.

    • @SandeepBPatel
      @SandeepBPatel 3 роки тому +2

      Don't you go for a haircut? Does it pain? The trimming of flight feathers is as painful as a haircut. Moreover, we too love to watch our birds fly, but these are pets, if they fly away, they won't survive more then 2 days in the wild. They will be hit by a car or will be hunted by other birds. We don't want our birds in cages we like to see them free in the house. There are obstacles in the house they can crash into, the fan or the stove. It's a safety measure for the bird we keep as a family member. Feathers grow back in a month or 2. Birds in the wild lose flight feathers all the time, trust me they are capable of gliding 10 to 15 feet, but can't go higher than a few feet from the ground. They gain flight capabilities in a matter of days even after trimming. It's crazy living with a bird, always need to be watchful especially with parrots because these birds are smarter than dogs and very curious. My bird will climb to the ceiling and glide down just for kicks after a trimming and to make us nervous.

    • @ShaynaFlowers
      @ShaynaFlowers 3 роки тому +2

      Then, you don’t let the bird be outside without a harness or cage. Plus, you can train to recall as a precaution. A bird’s main and best form of exercise is flying. You’re taking away what they’re naturally supposed to do. Clipped birds can still catch wind and go miles as well unless it’s a very bad job on the clip.

    • @ShaynaFlowers
      @ShaynaFlowers 3 роки тому +1

      They didn’t say anything about it being painful. Please, read the reply above. It’s YOUR job to keep them out of place they should. As you said, they’re smarter than dogs so why don’t you just train your bird? Also, no one should own a bird unless they’re willing to let the bird fly but in a safe place and do the loads of research before even getting one.

    • @samirae5307
      @samirae5307 3 роки тому +1

      @@ShaynaFlowers Owning a bird takes away what they do naturally. I agree with that, and I don't think anyone should have a parrot or bird of any kind. We're terrestrial land animals, and we have no need or right to keep flying aerial animals captive. However, this bird can't go back to the wild, and maybe it can't be trained any more. After a certain amount of time, hormones take over and it's too late to reinforce that behavior. Clipping may just be the best thing for it. Bottom line, it does take away their natural behavior, so does everything about captivity, even the best parrot parents are not providing them with the experience they would get in the wild, and no one would have parrots imo.

    Most owners trim their birds wings to limit flying. We only trim the primary and secondary feathers, not the coverlet feathers so the bird has ability to glide down when trying to fly....not drop like a rock to the ground. With the proper wing trim they should glide down to the ground gently and not get any lift. Wing trims are not painful to them.

      How pain full for bird no need to cut the nail just scratch from scratcher so that it won't hurt

    • @mez_prez
      @mez_prez 3 роки тому +1

      No, It's not painful to cut the feathers but without the ability to fly they develop muscle atrophy. This occurs because the muscles in the wings are not being used correctly if at all. It becomes extremely painful for the bird to even move its wings. This then leads to serious psychological and behavioural problems like wing plucking and excessive screaming. Wing clipping is becoming seriously outdated as many bird owners are realising the detrimental effects.
      Also, even in a 'proper' clip, the secondary feathers should never be cut, and you shouldn't clip at the base of the feathers, let alone cut at all. Please, just train your bird. I've linked some videos and resources here.
