Nice job. Really impressed. I've had my HF trailer since 2009. I've done so much with it. I really like what you did with the walls and the brackets. Never seen anything like them.
Not sure if it has been mentioned but when folding the trailer if you lift the rear section up to just before half way and secure it with the strap it will make it easier to lift the front section to get it on the casters by acting as a counter balance. Just a thought.
I agree with the previous comments. Great video and good editing. Love your strap ideas and I'll do my own I interpretation from your ideas. Thank you. Liked and subscribed by the way.
I have the same setup on the heavy duty model. The only thing i have different is i installed a bracket for mud flaps instead of fender. I don't want be paying for damage to any cars or trucks on the road. When i fold mine i take off the mud flaps along with rail fence. I also had to buy outside bracket for fence too mount to. I also ditched the lights for LED lights. They are brighter and the light will not crack or break like conventional light housing will. My lights also have a clear light for illuminating the license plate. I also welded my trailer 360 degrees around each piece. I change out the cheap tongue hitch with heavier hitch. Its more secure now too. No one will steal this trailer off my vehicle. I had one steal of my vehicle 4 years ago. How they took it is still a mystery. I found it by accident and in the process of sueing the 2 people that had it. They actual faked a bill of sale and got a title for it. Since i have the original i will win and get the trailer back or they will have to pay me for the trailer fully assembled. With will be a lot more than i paid for the unassembled trailer. They are going to regret stealing it. Then i am pressing charges for theft.
Jeez! Didn’t think of mudflaps and welding it. If it got stolen, it’s because people love them! 😂 Joking aside. I’m thinking of putting an AirTag on mine. Thanks 🙏
Grwt build. Loxking to redseign mine. Did you use pressure treated wood? Did you seal the wood? Also, how long were your carriage bolts? Why did you add the metal plate for the locking toggle clamps?
Nice set up like your ideas just picked up the same trailer today.I see you upgraded the tires to 13 do they rub against the trailer and did you put any spacers.
Hi Li, great video. Hey are those the original tires or did you upgrade? They appear a bit beefier than OEM, can you provide the details on where those are from?
They are upgraded tires. I got these tires because the load capacity is much higher; 1,600 lbs per tire: Kenda Karrier 13in. Radial Trailer Tire and Wheel Assembly - ST175/8013, 5-Hole
Nice configuration. I just bought the1720lb trailer (9/30/2023) and 6 bolts need to be removed in order to fold it. I used to own the lighter duty version for which no bolts needed to be removed. Either they changed the 1720lb trailer design since you bought it, or you may actually have the lighter version - i don't know.
As long as the trailer closes with the wood boards, you should be able to countersink the bolt (hide it flush with the wood boards. Let me know if this helps.
@fixedbyli In my trailer, there are 4 carriage bolts (2 on each side) that bolt the suspension frame to the rear trailer frame, and then 2 bolts that bolt the rear and front trailer frames. My conclusion is that this is one of the major differences between the modern/lastest SuperDuty trailer vs the LIghterDuty trailer. The foldability is not related to any optional wooden add-ons. @@fixedbyli
Nice additions to the trailer. After you removed the fenders how much clearance is between the tires? I've got a 48" mower deck that's 50" over all width and was thinking it wouldn't fit on the 4x8' trailers but with fenders off it might.

Hi Liam, can I ask how much that set up is worth with the side rails on it. The reason I ask is we inherited one from my father-in-law I don't think it's ever been used but we found the side rails and we're gonna put them on today and try to figure out what is a reasonable sell price to try to sell it for

Great video, thank you! Question: what was it about the smaller Harbor Freight trailer that you disliked? (Other than a lower maximum capacity in various ways.) Asking because I just have a Subaru with a fairly low tow rating and a smaller garage than you have, plus won't be doing projects as large as you.
Thanks! More capacity = more options. That’s it! Once I exploded both tires i realized that it was best to get the higher capacity. Replaced the tires, sold it and bought the higher capacity.
Nice video! I'm retired, have little hobby shop. I need to pickup a 1200 lb. Metal lathe that's about 1300 miles away. The wife and I have a 2021 honda passport. With the wheels removed and back seats down, do you think it's possible to put this in the passport? I hate to travel with this empty bouncing around, one way will probably be bad enough. Thx
Even if you take off the wheels, the axle will be sticking out. Better to drag the trailer.. I would suggest to replace the bearing grease with something more heat resistant so that the bearings don’t get damaged.

Thumbs up for this video!! The detail and responses on your page are insanely helpful! Thank you.
Accessory you still need is a tongue handle. U shaped handle that uses the coupler bolts to mount. Makes it easier to maneuver the trailer
Love it
Thanks Ali! I have the Northern tool foldable aluminum trailer and learned a lot from your video. Well done!
Great Job, a trailer like that has so many uses and can be pulled even by a small car. Plus it's a pickup that's cheap and no insurance, just plates!
Yes! Agreed!
Oregon does not require platess but California does:$90 as of 3/10/23
