I should also add that Jean Reno does lend his voice to his character... but only in French. When the Magic-babelfish-timetraveling-Navi Fairy joins she allows everyone to understand each other and Jean's character speaks in english with a different voice.
Ridiculous that I've somehow not played this one. Always meant to get around to Ominusha, had no clue I was missing out on THIS much. Great video, I've always wanted to see more of this sorta thing from you so this is a real treat!
Thank you Kane! I'm so glad you liked the video. The Onimusha games are great. I had a bit in the script that I ended up cutting out about how "It's Resident Evil, only you're a samurai" is like the best pitch any video game has ever given. Happy to be doing some game related videos again.
Love this game! I prefer Onimusha 1 and 2's more somber tone. Even though one might argue that Onimusha was quite ridiculous (in a good way) from the start. But the 3'd game turns it up to 11 and I love it:P
This is a bizarre video. Though I appreciate your origins of not experiencing the thing yet knowing what it is I also immediately have this gut reaction, a truly vitriolic and disgusted reaction. I truly dont know what to make of this.
@@TheMasterblah It doesn't get explained, I don't think. Not directly, as the time travel stuff is caused by Guildensterns Time-Folder. The weirdness is not so much how they went to specifically Paris, moreso how it was specifically main character and random guy who also became main character.
Hey man just discovered you and i really love your videos so far. I wanted to ask, are you a native english speaker ? I noticed your pronounce the number 3 as "tree" which is something a lot of non native english speakers do, they pronounce three as "tree" or "free". I'm French and i used to do that a lot before even tho i had a near perfect accent, until one day an Australian pointed out that i said it that way.
Onimusha 1 was basically samurai-sident evil. Onimusha 3 was cool. That's not where I'd say the series went insane though. Onimusha 3 was also made into a pachislot machine, and there was a platform fighting game which I was disappointed by, as well as a (in retrospect sort of shallow) tactics game on gameboy advance which I enjoyed. I never played Dawn of Dreams because it seemed to have lost... something. Maybe that's just my prejudgement.
You should really try Onimusha 2 if you want insane. It is so off the wall silly - from the hat-haired rival character's melodramatic flourishes to the ridiculous dubbing, and the over the top final boss. 3 is over the top but it seems to try and take itself and the story somewhat serious, 2 has absolute meme moments throughout.
Imagine not knowing what Onimusha 3 is and not knowing that Jean Reno is a demon asskicking protagonist. I feel old...
3:16 I'm sorry is that fucking Jean Reno?
Yeah! He's one of the main characters for some reason. The other main character is played by Takeshi Kaneshiro, also a real actor.
I should also add that Jean Reno does lend his voice to his character... but only in French. When the Magic-babelfish-timetraveling-Navi Fairy joins she allows everyone to understand each other and Jean's character speaks in english with a different voice.
As someone who grew up playing the series I can confirm this is the same company that made great ones liners like "You almost became of Jill sandwich"
God-tier writing tbh.

I love these short videos! Quick, to the point, and no time is wasted to share your love for video games
Thanks for reminding I still need to play Onimusha 1.

Its great. I like the first one the most for the reasons mentioned in this video but 3 is very special too. It made me laugh a lot.
I was already subbed because of that Okage video. But man, this is great. Love the Catherine call out. One of my favorites.
Catherine is so good. Thanks for the sub!
Its like if RE1 went to RE6 in a single year.
That's a pretty good comparison actually. I like RE6 for a lot of the same reasons I like Onimusha 3.
Don't remember how I know this, but they mo-capped a horse for this game.
Incredible information. Thank you for this.
May the algorithm bless you, friend. Good video
Thank you!
why does every new game essay person have to do some backstory on their life with sad music when the video is about a video game
Back when I was a little boy, I didn't go outside very much. So instead of friends I had...
....wait, where are you going!?
Heck yeah! I love this series so much!
Maaaan, the Anime is going to freaking absolutely kick ASS.
And then Season 2 will bring in Reno.
damn, just found myself a hidden gem of a channel
Hey thank you!
First time I've seen your videos. Well done, you've earned a sub 👏
Thank you!
I love the onimusha series, i hope its getting the remake Treatment like resident evil or a new game
Highly doubt it but WE CAN DREAM!!!
@@Rubyfallz 👉 TGS 24 lets HOPE 😅
Don't forget to mention that the french main character looks exactly like Jean Reno (3:16)
He literally is! He did mo-cap and everything.

No greater joy than knowing your work made someone experience vitriolic disgust.
@@RubyfallzThats art for ya.
another banger of a video
Try out part 2. That theme music is awesome
The second one seems cool. I May try it for another video some time.
How come he ended up in Paris if he time travelled. Does it also take into account the Earth's rotation or what?
I wanna say its one of those plot points that doesn't get explained. Its been years since I played onimusha 3 though

Hi! Thank you! I'm from the Netherlands, so not a native English speaker. For some reason I've always had trouble saying 3.
@@Rubyfallz oh that's funny, your videos reminded me a bit of Thorhighheels and he's also Dutch
There's part 3???
There's even a fourth one!!

Samurai-sident Evil lmao love that.
Why i wouldn't be surprised this game killed the Onimusha franchise?
I dunno. Certainly didn't die from this game, even though most can admit it jumped the shark hard.

I have a future video planned where it will be mentioned so I'm playing it for that. I'm excited to try it!
@@Rubyfallz Look up the music video for the game. The OFFICIAL music video, that plays as an intro to the actual game.
Not hack and slash. Diablo is a hack n slash.
I thought Diablo was a "Dungeon Crawler".
