What if You Finish the Game With the Minutemen and Then Rescue Paladin Danse?

- Have you ever wondered what would happen if you completed the game on the side of the Minutemen and then came to rescue Paladin Danse from the ghouls in the Cambridge Police Station in Fallout 4? I decided to test this, so I started completing quests for the Minutemen, including the very last quest where you have to explode the Institute. So, I did just that, infiltrated the Institute, placed explosives in the reactor, and blew up the location from a safe distance. Then, I went to rescue Paladin Danse, killed all the ghouls, and initiated a conversation with him. Then I heard these words from him.
The Minute Men are a neutral gang so you can pretty much be on the side of the Brotherhood and get the full rank while still hanging out with a Minuteman and destroying the Institute and yes you can even save Paladin Danse as well even with as a side of the Minutemen again they are a neutral gang so they don't really care
I thought you could only be Paladin once you side with Brotherhood and build Liberty Prime, and become Sentinel after killing Danse
@@bloodyraptor6251Dont have to kill Danse, if you have high enough speech. Can convince Maxson to let him go.
@@bloodyraptor6251the minute men are the Yes Man of the fallout 4 even though you can make them hate you through the Nuka World DLC, no matter how far you go with any faction you can still finish the game with them
You can finish the game with all three factions alive if you destroy the institute with the minutemen
Once you become a enemy of the BoS Preston will what to deal with the BoS

Yeah, I immediately thought of his spine, too. Idk why, since it is reused human bones. I was going to say he'll need a part replaced, one day, or never get old.
Just more proof that Danse truly wants what is best for the commonwealth even if that isn’t the BoS
Most of the brotherhood reacts this way, proctor Quinlan says something about it being smart to waste the minuteman’s troops instead of the brotherhoods. Most of the the brotherhood is just happy that the job got done
I mean if you complete his quest line the cannon way, he ends up leaving/kicked out of the brotherhood.
The sole survivor is also annexed from the brotherhood in the cannon completion leaving the minutemen as the last “good” choice, so Danse theoretically does support the minutemen after his exile.
So long as the sole survivor doesn’t side with the institute that is. I’m not sure if the institute ending is canonized or not, but I know for a fact the brotherhood ending is not.

@@REALSmokahontas420pretty sure everyone missed plenty of things the first run or runs. There’s so many side things to do. Still keeps that special feeling being able to uncover new things though
@@user-ig8vm1ns4tI didn't. Bethesda actually makes sure you don't. You actually have to ACTIVELY avoid quests in order to not keep the story/side quests going. Before you even get into Cambridge (on the way to Diamond City, which is a core part of the story and game), the distress signal is picked up and a quest starts. If you ignore that and go near the College Square, you'll hear a battle going on between Danse and the ferals. If you somehow ignore that, and do the main story past Kellogg, you'll see the big-ass blimp called the Prydwen announce their presence in your face. If you ignore THAT, you'll still be given a quest to investigate the ship, which discovers the airport. There's zero excuse to not find any of the factions, not discover all marked locations (if not in Survival, they're marked as undiscovered from a mile away), or finish the story.
You'd actually have to have good knowledge of the game and the story in order to actively avoid it and not be caught up in it, like players who have had multiple characters, have done the story and side quests multiple times, and know what to do to avoid them and play a different way.
Simply put, if you miss out on the game's core mechanics and story, you shouldn't be playing video games at all with the sheer lack of intelligence.
So this is the only way to save paladin danse from finding out he is a synth.
There is another way
Just finish the institute with the minutemen before you get to THAT part of the BoS quest chain.
I joined the BoS, found the lost expidition... found the source of the stolen supplies etc but I finished the institute with the minutemen before Maxson tells me to hunt Danse.

Is it the same voice actor?
@@HandleMyButWhole Yes. Miraak and Paladin Danse are voiced by Peter Jessop.
This confirms my theory that Dance is replaced by a synth while he is at the police station. Defeating the institute first saves him from being snatched
Never thought of that, if it is the case, Danse would be taken right after the ArcJet mission.
The institute is watching you, from the moment you thaw out.
Everyone else you become friends with, are too well known, or not possible to snatch.
Cait is known by all the Raiders, Nick is the famous detective, Piper is the only reporter, Deacon is a ghost, Curie is hidden, McCready is the best mercenary, Strong is a super mutant, Hancock is a ghoul, Preston is beloved,
My theory is Dogmeat isn't a real dog, his appearance is a German Shepherd, if he was a real dog, we would see more in the Commonwealth, known pre war breed, trusted by humans.
Ideal choice to make a spy, but someone who could interact with you properly, guide you to a decision, Danse the nobody in the BoS is the perfect person to replace.

So what about going to the Railroad after beating the game with the Minutemen?
I'm pretty sure you have to meet the Railroad in order to get the Courser chip analyzed, but you can just slaughter them and do it faster than Tinker Tom
Idk if it's bugged but after beating it with the MM, the RR accused me of working with the Institute and refused to talk to me.
@@Bludobi9001Basically if you let the RR decode the courser chip, your relationship with the RR depends entirely on whether or not you give them the data. It’s always fun to complete certain quests before they are actually required cause there is almost always different dialogue for the scenario. My favorite is finding Nick Valentine without any clues. Always fun. I wanna find the institute without actually needing to just yet, that and discovering Virgil. One way I can see getting to the institute is the same way you break in with The Minutemen through the sewers, I gotta try it sometime.
virgil doesnt spawn until you complete reunions and the institute path is locked until you teleport there. you can glitch youreelf through the tunnels and activate the last quest butit's not very straight forward and doesjt affect dialogue
I didn't know you can get to the Institute through the sewers.
@@alphacompton Minutemen quest-line, it’s actually pretty cool (this triggers after you defend The Castle from the Institute assuming you got the agitator for the BOS and not the institute and Railroad).
Essentially, most of the questlines with interesting outcomes happens based on who you get the agitator for. The BOS unlocks the BOS and Minutemen endings but stops the Railroad and Institute, and vice versa. If you side with the railroad, you can’t get the Minutemen.
I like getting all the eddie winter tapes before you meet Nick. When he finally asks you to find them, your character just says "oh you mean these"
This is the true spirit of the Brotherhood that is lost to Maxson
If that’s not Morgan then the most we will get from him is hearing his voice on a Radio. Maybe Rick hears his message at some point in the next 2 episodes.
Danse does have a lot of respect for the minutemen. They may be a milita but they are a noble one under the sole survivors guidence.
Never noticed that the boat on swans shoulder actually stretches as if it were his flesh come on Bethesda 😭
Bro was stuck fighting ghouls the whole time while the BoS didn’t even try to help

Poor danse really got the shorty end of the stick with the brotherhood of steel.
Paladin Danse would've made a better Elder than Maxson, nothing can change my mind about that.

Paladin Danse put the Brotherhood first, but he genuinely cared about the well-being of everyone.
It wasn't just a mission for him, he genuinely cared about the commonwealth and the people 🙏
Another reason Danse will always be my favorite
You can complete the game and keep the Minutemen, BoS and the Railroad around. There's a couple of walkthroughs around.
I'll have to give that a try. It's been ages since I played F4 but I typically sided with the Railroad
Build the teleporter with the minuteman and the holotape to Sturges
Simply do all missions for BoS except talking to Captain Kell to avoid killing RR and save Danse getting killed
Do RR and Institute mission until Bunkers Hill, save the Synths
After Bunker Hill, talk to Father that you saved the Synths to get a banishment
Talk to RR, they will suggest to use the Minuteman. Do Minutemen missions all the way until nuclear option
That is it
@@randomrfkovso it’s impossible to get The brother hood loot without losing danse other than Pickpocketting it off of them?
Is there something I missed? On my first playthrough I blew up the institute, BoS, Minutemen and the Railroad were all left intact
In my game he just says “check your fire, we got hostiles” while standing there with no ghouls around.
On my second playthrough I set up the transporter and got to the Institute first. Danse lamented that I didn't go through them but ce la vie.
Surprised danse wouldn't kill you considering he's secretly a synth
If you follow the Institute quest, you'll notice synths required verbal commands, instead of electronic ones. That's why they needed a Courser to retrieve the Synth from the Gunners, and to retrieve the Synth that became a Raider Boss, and why the Railroad is even capable of stealing synths from the institute to begin with
It's not like all the synths are on a network. They are basically just people who happen to have a chip in their head. Unless you give a verbal command to that chip they might as well be human. H
He himself didn't even know he was a synth.
He had been memory wiped, probably by the railroad, given false memories and let loose in the Capital Wasteland. Unless given a specific voice command, he wouldn't even know he's a Synth
"Elected" is a strong word.
One thing I love about f4 is the replay ability and the slight choice difference you can make to change the outcome
With new Vegas is just breaks lots of the time
Danse is too good for the brotherhood
Glad he doesn't seem to be aware YOU brought down the Prydwen, with artillery strikes, in order to do this. 😊 I guess I am not sure if you HAVE TO, when siding with the Minutemen, but...
That’s because he’s a synth, loyal to the institute. BOS is just a cover for him, he’s actually trying to take them out as a Spy. The only person who had no ties to him and wouldn’t be surprising is having our character kill him off.
Only if you made an enemy of the BOS
@@jpegjaredehhh am I I mistaken? I thought Danse never knew he was a synth? Forgive me I haven’t played the game in years… maybe the telemetry data was being collected subconsciously and sent back to the institute?
When I chose the minutemen ending and brought down the prydwen, I went back to the Cambridge police station to find BOS soldiers waiting for me outside. I took them out and went inside the station to find Rhys, Haylen, and Danse hostile. Haylen and Rhys were essential and couldn’t be killed, but not Danse.
@@jpegjaredhe doesn't know he's a synth. that's like, his entire plotline
The true answer is he repeats “hold your fire we’ve got hostiles!”
the MM are the only side where you can keep the other factions alive (well not the Institute, since yeah only if you side with them do they survive) but the MM have 2 endings depending on how far you go with the other factions. (I only went as far with the RR to get Ballistic Weave, and the BH until I got PA from them and did one settlement mission for the guy selling stuff on the Airship, But not the mission from Maxxum. But for Battle of Bunker Hill told everyone about it, also had a glitch where Garvey wouldn't leave I had Aida set as follower and he was still there happened because of the "Taking the Castle" mission, probably because I destoryed the eggs before they told me to IDK, But not until sometime after finished Far Harbor & Nuka World did he stop so again IDK what happened.) But somehow I ended up with the three Factions Peaceful with each other, so the "Super Happy Ending". (there are certain flags with the RR & BH missions that trigger them being aggressive to the other factions, but not sure how far down each you can go without triggering it. But I didn't so at least that far.)
So if you destroy Institute with Minutemen before you help Danse at the police station then you cancel out the BoS questline..Well I saw that one coming a mile off..
in this way, danse will never know he is a synth.
I wish the game explained that you could click on the collectables and rambley would tell you about them
I really don’t know how they are able to account for every different playthrough style with new dialogue and experiences.. this is why I love fallout.
So Paladin Danse literally tells you that your choice made no difference because the outcome would have been the same regardless. Great writing Bethesda, Bravo!
As far as danse is concerned its the same goal, the difference is methods and what they think about collateral.
Same thing for difference reasons
Thats like saying ncr or house both get rid of the legion so no difference
“Even though you decided on the minute men the result is the same” the jokes just write themselves really
Maybe I'm just a Maxson hater, but the Minutemen route isn't "done" until I've blown the Prydwen out of the sky with the Castle's artillery.
I like the BoS, I just wish we could of had that mission where we could replace Maxson.
To me that's when they become a legit military force to be reckoned with. Especially with vertabirds.
nah cuz tbh the brotherhood isnt that bad its all really just elder maxon. Plus im kind of a sucker for the militaristic gameplay of the brotherhood so yeah lmao
@@slicer2938Yeah it's just Maxson. People like Danse and Haylen prove that even in their current military form the Brotherhood would genuinely be a good force for the Commonwealth and beyond. It's just that Maxson refuses to lose to anyone including his own Brotherhood. Unironically this is the best ending... Danse never loses the family he made with the brotherhood.
So he never finds out he’s a synth good way to save his life for sure
then here i am trying to manage playing on the side of both the insatitute and the brotherhood
I'm just wondering how a guy that has been fighting off ghouls for the entire time we've been thawed out would know what TF I've been doing during that time....🤔
Danse is a legend
Danse is probably the best BoS member. While he’s disappointed that he didn’t choose the Brotherhood to help you carry out the mission, he understands that the outcome was the same
That's surprising wholesome from a filthy dirty synth
Then the brotherhood are like “oh well.” And went flew to Nevada
Next question is what happens if you straight to the brother hood skipping meetings the minute man
Nothing really.
I made a new playthrough, skipped speaking to Codsworth & visiting Concord. Helped Danse, & then went to find Valentine & continue the quest. Sided with the BOS & destroyed the institute.
Went to speak with Codsworth after the final main quest, you can just help them I guess (I didn’t) & Preston just asks for your help probably.
“So am I still getting that t-60 power armor?”
Humble to a fault only a machine can be. Bet Maxium was super salty.
Casually saves danse from being hunted by the brotherhood
When I did this in my first playthrough Danse just bugged out and always thought he was in combat
One of the better shorts ive seen of this nature. Actually really cool the turnout
Because Danse isn't a zealot like most of the rest of the Brotherhood. Guy just wants people safe.
The fact that Bethesda went as far as to add dialog for certain instances like this is cool. I don't think I've ever gone back to talk to danse after siding with the minutemen so I've never heard this.
I love how he just walks away from rambley whenever possible
he sound like a aftermarket buzz lightyear
Funny part, this is the Lore for the Fallout Show. Show is post Fallout 4, BoS has Boston accent. And Ep 7, Minuteman Radio can be heard.
The best way to prevent Danse ever finding out he's a synth abomination, is to recruit him but leave him on the Prydwen.
Then blow it out of the sky....
It's honestly the most humane thing anyone of us could do.
I literally joined the minutemen the brotherhood and the institute all at the same time and it’s my first play through (not only my first, but also my current and only)
And he never finds out he’s a synth!
That's the same thing he says just for blowing up the institute.
So, nothing changes.
Thats probably the first meaningful thing iv heard an npc say in that game. Bravo
Danse has the game’s script hidden in his armor
i remember for a fact on my first playthrough, i did not knew danse existed until my second playthrough where i decided to see what that cambridge police quest had to offer.
I feel like Railroad and Minutemen were the actual 'good' endings
"I was made by the Institute. Thanks for destroying my homeland".
I love how in the Fallout Games you can make any combination of thousands of choices, play it literally any way you want, and Bethesda has lines planned out for whatever outcome you reach.
Should be called” when Danse isn’t a dick”
My favourite ending lol minutemen are my favourite faction. Especially for RP reasons. Love travelling across the commonwealth and helping people, setting up settlements etc. I have a thriving network atm which is great.
I chose The Railroad as we were all personally invested in the Institutes defeat. The minutemen had nothing to do with the situation. Although yes its their goal to help the commonwealth, I saw no point in risking their lives to have them join a personal battle. Plus, the Railroad have been planning this for years, didnt wanna take that victory from them lol.
It's also been years so I dont quite know if i HAD to destroy the Prydwen, but I did. The Brotherhood have became insane since what i remember them being in Fallout 3, couldn't have them around trying to clear all friendly Synths and Ghouls.
In a perfect world, I would've joined The Institute and stopped the kidnapping of others. They're too important to be destroyed, but the creation of Synths and swapping humans out for them is a big no no and would be stopped immediately. Thus brining most factions together besides The Brotherhood. They would then need to decide if they'll behave and be rational, or an enemy of the entire commonwealth.
In my perfect ending the minute take over the institute and make everyone’s lives better because they will actually accept help from minute men because there not hated by anyone or the institute ending but that one you don’t have full power so you can’t change anything so if you could make it better that one but if you join the institute it’s basically you agree with all of there views and keep it going as they would
Danse is one of my favorite npcs of all time
Missing out on a solid early game weapon, a horde of ammo, and pockets full of vendor trash hurts.
Danse has a lot of depth and it's often speculated that he knows hes a synth but is also sentient.
Fun fact: the diamond city guard that piper tricks to get into the city when you first meet her is the same actor that plays Peter in the Spider-Man PS4 games
I remember there is 1 way, it's kinda complicated though, to side with the Minutemen, the Brotherhood of Steel and the Railroad, with the Institute as a common enemy.
I never knew you could do this, and I have been playing the game since it launched. This is cool.
When I had to kill Paladin Danse it was a tough mission to complete. I remember his last words as he knelt there awaiting execution in his tighty whities.
Nope, never pondered even a second over this.
Meanwhile we're still scrubbing off all the permanent marker from every single time when Preston marked a location on our map.
Priorities, f the main quest I need more settlements for my urbanization program of the comonwealth.
@@Reiner547
My dear fellow, this is the way.
Actually rebuilding stuff will rebuild the comonwealth, not some warpath, of some chlidish factions.
For anyone wondering, after obtaining paladin, then sentinel rank, if you proceed to become enemies with the BOS, YOU WILL NOT LOSE your paladin/Sentinel PowerArmor paints and can still apply them on t60 models afterwards.
Also with the minutemen, you can progress with their quest after finishing with the BOS, take the castle, obtain the Artillery cannon, make settlements have +10 settler's, then use the nukaworld DLC to extort these settlements, leave the minutemen, piss off preston, and now you have settlements that feel like settlements, not 1-3 people camps.
I keep 4 settlements for my own foreward operating base(s) to provide artillery over the map.
If you proceed to do this, just abandon your Boston Airport settlement as you probably already dont use it, and Liberty Prime will keep 1 shotting you with nukes (he cant die). So just avoid the Airport and you're good.
*Of course you'll lose the ability to use vertibirds from the BOS, and the ability to call in minutemen troops with flares* (if you finished with BOS, railroad is presumably destroyed so no vertibirds through them, either)
As long as Rhys is killed, all will be okay.
I love those options you can make in the game
This is exactly how I did it in my original playthrough. I even blew up the Prydwen before finding him. It was odd.
