  • Pine Bonsai Trees often the ideal image that people have in mind when they think of classic bonsai trees. Pines grow differently to many other trees, growing via the production of candles in spring which harden off into branches during the summer. The pruning of pine bonsai therefore different to many other trees and considered to be more difficult than other bonsai.
In this video, we'll look at how to prune pine bonsai trees, thinking about how to cut the candles in order to keep the growth tight while keeping the trees in good health. We look at how pine bonsai trees grow and break it down into simple terms.
As always, we try to keep it simple and to the point.
Our little video was filmed in spring at our bonsai shop in Sheffield, Yorkshire, UK.

Great, clear video. I see many videos which are 30+ minutes long, when they really don't need to be (unless they're going in more thoroughly, which often isn't the case). Thanks guys.

Hi Mandy, I’d leave them to grow this year and problem next year too. Focus on building strong little trees first before doing much in the way of bonsai training. Thanks. Adam
