Great video! Just a comment. At 3.20 you talk about having an extra shut off valve for emergency. They’re is one already. It’s one of the two big black knobs on the system that shut off in and out water supply.
Dear Mr. Lince. When regeneration, NaCl 20% and water will dilute and pass to softerner tank. Normally, brine solution 10% will be used to regen in 30min. But hose pipe of brine tank is small so concentration of brine solution maybe have 3-5%. It impacts to regen effect. Pls instruct to solve this problem. Thanks.
I don't understand your question, if there is one. This has been working in our house (3 adults and 3 children, 2 water heaters and 4.5 bathrooms) for over a year and has no problems keeping up.
I'm not sure what you mean by wasting water through the drain? Nothing really changed at all in terms of water pressure or consumption. It's just a filter that sits in front of the water coming into the house.
Hi, Can you please share the experience with the softener? Is the size (64K) adequate for your needs? Would you say it is good for 4 people in a 2500 sq house with 2.5 baths? Have you thought of adding a carbon filter? Thank you,
+sergionikus Hey. We've had a great experience so far. 64k for us covers 6 people (3 adults) in a 4500 sq/ft house and 5 bathrooms. We use a lot of water. I can't say exactly how much salt I'm using - I think I've bought about 8 bags maybe since I installed this thing almost a year ago. So for your size 64k should be more than plenty. We haven't considered making any other additions or adjustments. The water here is only medium hardness really - tastes fine.
not a single bit. Had this now for a year and a half and not a single issue...love having the bigger salt barrel...I can fill that thing up with 6-7 bags and don't need to mess with it for months...
Hello I just saw your install video and thank you for that. I do have some questions about my setup here that I “inherited” and could use your expertise. I have most of the same set up from what I can tell but I don’t see a brine tank and I don’t know what size resin tank I have either. I assume this system is incomplete? Would love to be able to get it up and running if at all possible. Thank you in advance!!
I'm no expert - but if you have a fleck head unit and tank like this one then you'll need the brine tank for sure. I think most people don't really understand how filtration works but basically the water is filtered through the main tank and the resin that's in there. The brine actually cleans out the particulate in the resin after a specified amount of water passes through the tank. These are all things that you setup based on the specifics of the head unit, tank and resin beads you are using. If it's a half put together system I'd recommend having a pro come take a peek to make sure it's all in order and you have the right gear. Since I set this one up myself I knew I had all the right pieces to have a complete setup.
+Andy Menchaca Hey Andy. I think it was around $900 or so with everything. I don't see why it wouldn't work with well water - but check with the mfg before you buy anything to make sure it will - or if it needs something specific to handle that. I get city water so I didn't have to take that into consideration. We've had the unit about a year now and it's worked great - no issues at all.
Hi there, great video. Just a word of caution -- you may want to check those Shark-bite connectors. I've seen on the back of the packaging (parts purchased at Home Depot), a Warning describing that they have been tested to be a health hazard. Something in them can cause cancer, birth defects, etc. If what you purchased does not have this warning, then they're probably fine. Otherwise, I'd change them out for something else. Cheers!
...fear mongering. I didn't look at the label it has something to do with lead content because it's higher than .25% or something like that. I figure all the scotch I drink is rotting me more than that.

Dawg is that iron brigade....how much did that pigg cost..
does it waste a lot of water through the drain? also, what about the pressure drop to your water as the result of the installation.

Was it expensive? Would you recommend it for well water?
