For those wondering how it works... the villagers will collect the crops once they are fully grown, then they will try to breed with the middle guy but instead of them collecting the crops it goes into the hoppers.

@@nomars4827 Nothing gets taken from the villagers themselves. The farmer villager tosses the food to the other villager who is behind the hoppers. The food never makes it to the other villager, it gets caught by the hopper. Thy don't throw any seeds, they stay in the farmers inventory and as long as they have seeds in their inventory they will plant those seeds if there's farmland available.

It's automation vs personal labor. Yes you could do it yourself and spend time doing it that could be used elsewhere or you could create an automated process that will always do this task while you do other things.@@rev_YT4358
As a side note, the setup for the wheat will not work it will produce bread, villagers only make bread with the wheat they collect so if you need things like hay bales for target blocks from this don't waste your time

but it stupid to do this in this kind of automatic farming.....you are a nuts or waht???, we didnt farm in this farm, villager dos this for us, you didnt have to plant crops except in the first place, but after villager willl do, and even if you alternat crops, villager will not do like you, and what you are yaing is true but only in easy and medium difficlty , and its not worth a damn time to do this, you save 0,5% of time doing this, but it take 50% more time to plant crops like this. it sjust a stupid move to alternate crops

The hopper minecarts catch the food before they make it to the hungry villager in the center. However, I think their inventories will fill with seeds if you use wheat and beetroot. Plus this seems like a small design if you're going the villager slave route.
Fun fact : over the time, the villager's inventorie will be filled with wheat seed and he will no longer harvest... Juste plant carrot or potatoes, not wheat
It does work pretty good, I saw this farm design on another YT channel, only problem is eventually the middle villager manages to somehow push the hopper carts away and gets in one of the farm tiles. Happened to me 3 times, had to bring another villager to the middle and get rid of the one that bugged out.

I have several of those using carts instead of the center villager. you have to put 8 trapdoors around the composter to prevent the villagers from turning stuff into bonemeal. you also have to fill their inventory with like 8 stacks of seeds or carrots or whatever they need to be planting.
I wonder if you could set up a corner for a dispenser and observer in there to refill their inventory crops when they step in front of it so you never even need to go inside.

Pro tip: planting the crops in alternating rows will make them grow faster (for example, 1 row wheat and 1 row potatoes)

u can grow 4 different crops in 4 different areas.
Sell all crops to a farmer and buy the golden carrots. It's one of the last options farmers offer.
