I've long been interested in the idea of Turkic cooperation. It was talked about a lot in the early 1990s, but never came to anything. So, do you think that they are now starting to form a new union? And could it emerge as an important bloc in International relations? As ever, I look forward to hearing your thoughts and comments below. And don't forget that there's also the channel Discord server for member: ua-cam.com/users/JamesKerLindsayjoin
One important thing to consider is that Turkey is a member of a military alliance (NATO) that is a direct rival to an alliance most other Turkic countries are part of (CSTO). The recent clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan show that there is a lack of real commitment to the organization, but I am not sure the Turkic countries can evolve into an actual political, and possibly military, alliance while they remain part of opposing military alliances.

As a young man from Kyrgyzstan, I would love to get rid of Moscow influence even more. Unfortunately, Kyrgyzstan is facing severe propaganda due to russian being an official language in Kyrgyzstan. Maybe this organization will help shift the focus more into our Turkic heritage and help to grow even more national identity, and be a stronger independent state, but also to be in a block that can ensure stable growth of each of these countries. I hope EU’s path can be followed and improved. Alga Kyrgyzstan and Salam Aleikum to every Turkic brother and sister :)

I’m Kazakh Turk, thank you for the video. I wanted to Leave some insights: 1. With growing awareness of our own history, culture and literature which was heavily obscured by communist propaganda and purge, people in Central Asia now can read their history from different sources. They can read previously banned literature. And obviously it’s about close unity amongst the people who live in this region. As you already mentioned that unity was split into Republics during Soviet era. 2. With opening the borders people in Central Asia understand that we have a lot in common not only in language, but also on what you eat, what you read and what you believe. 3.. It would sound a bit odd, but back in 2009 Turkish Republic was looking towards Europe, and President of Kazakhstan decided to make union of Turkic republics. It may sound a bit like pulling the blanket on yourself, but if you look at it in different perspective, in perspective of Central Asian, it will sound justified, because of the reason of neighboring superpowers like China and Russia. This union could potentially off balance superpowers. 4. We have a lot in common with Western Turkish people such as cultural ties, big economic ties and interestingly mixed marriages with Central Asian and Western Turkish people are common nowadays, I would say it’s normal to see some of your relative being someone from Turkiye. 5. Another interesting fact is, this way to unify Turkic people was started at the beginning of last century with: Turkestan autonomy, Alash orda, Basmachi movement, Turkestan legion (WW2).
Thank you so much for the great comment and all the excellent points. I really appreciate it. It is interesting that people are starting to discover their historical roots. I was going to mention something about the 19th century Turanist thinking. The problem with short videos is that things have to be covered in a particular way that doesn't confuse things for viewers who might no know much about the subject. I just couldn't make it fit in well. But great that you raised it. Thanks again!

You don't worry about what your authorization leader wants to do with that power? It's certainly not clear to most of the world what Erdogan's intentions are.
We in Kazakhstan are in most need of Turkic Union in any shape or form. It’s not great to be sandwiched between Russia and China. Russia, previous security guarantor, looks a lot more like security threat/risk now.
Difference between Mongolia and Kazakhstan is, Mongolia does not have much resources, China and Russia see it good as a buffer zone btw them. Kazakhstan has so much resources. A Turkic union is the best and only option for Kazakhstan.
@@masterc2091 Colonizers always do that. We can also say that Siberian is not Russian, it’s Turkic. It was colonized by Russians after the fall of Siberian Khanate. Turkic population was wiped out.
@@TarlanT Yes, you're right. Putin said in an interview that the Kazakhs never had an empire in their history, so they didn't have an independent state. A country of their own. He forgets the Golden Horde whose descendants are the Kazakhs. Russians live in their own reality.
I agree with the note but don’t think that this new Turkic Bloc is actually canon. Many of the Central Asian Turkic states have geopolitical interests that diverge from one another (if not in direct opposition to one another). What I will say though is I visited Turkey and that country has good vibes.
@@monokumaxd1943 I don't think geopolitical interests of Turkic countries diverge from another, all Turkic countries need eachother for geopolitics. Turkmenistan sells natural gas to China through Uzbekistan and Kyrgyztan. Kazakhistan needs Azerbaijan and Turkiye to connect Europe. Turkiye wants to be an energy hub for resources of Turkic states. Uzbekistan's connection to Europe goes by Kazakhistan or Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. All of us need eachother, and for our security, we need eachother, too.
Turkey is the key member here. Central Asia is in between two big powers : Russia and China. If Turkey could give a way out for the Turkic nations in Central Asia, this Turkic Counsil would become a real, important alliance. For this, Turkey must provide some important things to the Central Asia : Security, an economic trend for growth ...
This is why Turkey and Azerbaijan are working hard to establish a corridor between themselves and Armenia. Armenia is very reluctant on allowing such a linkage betwen Turkey and the rest of the Turkic countries. I believe this corridor will be made soon as there is too much pressure on Armenia from its neighbours.
I hope turkic people build institutions of wealth and power for decades to come. Their place is key in the world. Their culture is unique and welcoming. May they succeed. Iyi sanşlar

The Turks were justice and fair ruler when they convert to Islam. They built many empires the last one is was ottoman empire ruled 3 continent for 600 years
@kristina zboodram Except for Hagia Sophia, no place was turned into a mosque. The Ottoman state was a state that gave equal rights to everyone, did not assimilate anyone, and allowed them to live their religious beliefs freely. Moreover, the first arrival of the Turks in Anatolia dates back to 3500 years ago. They were found in Anatolia not only in the Battle of Manzikert in 1071, but also before this time.
@@JamesKerLindsay I hope one day mankind will see the similarities like the Turkic peoples do with each other no matter if you are Christian, Muslim, Tengrist, Asian-looking, White or Middle-Eastern. We uzbeks are very happy with this growing relations with other turkic countries. Turkey showed itself as a reliable ally rather than Russia. The Turkey's support to Azerbaijan in the Karabakh war also played a vital role. Now, Central Asian turkic countries believe that Turkey can support us in case we will have issues with Russia in the near future(which seems inevitable nowadays).
Thanks. But how seriously do you think the countries want to work with each other? And dp you think they can? It is all very well to talk of a common Turkic heritage, but can this be translated into serious economic and political cooperation? Can you really see the emergence of a Turkic Union like the European Union?
@@JamesKerLindsay I think it really depends on what will happen to Russia after the war. If Russia loses its power, then Turkic union can be built. Otherwise, Russia does not allow to this. As we know, the Central Asian countries still dependent on Russia. Another factor is who become a president one of these countries. Because in these countries a president has all the power and everything depends on how that president looks at this process.
I hope we will see something good thing. I love my Turkish brothers and also I have a member in my own family: an uzbekh. Organization started to family and will be soon of the world😂👌. Türkiye'den selamlar kardeşlerim 🇹🇷
Hello Professor! As always, thank you for this extremely informative video. What we are seeing right now is a growth of different blocs regionally. In the Balkans, there is a similar bloc called Open Balkan led by Albania, North Macedonia and Serbia. It is functioning along the same lines as the Organisation of Turkic States, and it would be very interesting to analyse the impact this initiative would have in the Balkans and the EU.
Balkan population and resources doesn't enough to get united. There is Greece and Italy ( Catholic and Orthodox church opposition) they don't allow the get united without acceptance of their poverty on these lands. Greece already took Macedonian and Serbian, Albenian lands. So Greece is also supported by whole Europeans monarchies and USA. There is no any space for united Balkans just because of internal religious, etnic and emperialist facts. Just look Balkans past or Bosnia War. Even todays Greeks invasive politics. They changed Macedonias name and capture Macedon lands and they push Macedonia State to except change the name of name of the country via US & EU helps. Today's Greece is 53th State of USA via 9 military base. No body can touch Greece in this time. Only the Turks and their alliance can stop Greece as in History.
Haha! Yes. I should have shown it more prominently and explained the background. It’s taken from the flags of the four founding states. It is rather impressive.

The west is also known for their hypocrisy towards Turks, and to other eastern countries as well. The western media mostly consists of fake stuff when it is about such things. They only been brainwashing the western audience. Turks don't back/support al qaida or any type of terror groups. As you know the PKK is an terrorist organization and the YPG, PYD is a wing of them. Basically PKK but rebranded into different name. The US uses excuses like ''fighting isis, deaş''. Turkey told the US back then to fight them together but nothing happened. Their main objective is to divide Türkiye. The YPG and all that type of groups do not even represent the kurds. They consist of kurds, arabs and mercenaries. The turkish military alone consists of 30% kurds. Turks and Kurds see eachother as brothers but then there are such events happening that seek to divide the kurds to use them against Türkiye. I can only talk from experience, we need more unity in the world, and I praise this move. Turkiye is one of those places in the world where people are welcome, no matter where you are from, Turks truly appreciate your presence in their country. They are a wonderful nation. I hope they are supported from every corner of the globe.
It would be nice to see a union of the Turkic nations that would allow those nations to further their economies while they embrace their own values collectively. Even if the economic strategies don’t address a single nation’s needs I think that the engagement benefits of countries that have historically been means to an EU/Russian end vs having self determination as a common group will be positive and rally support within the nations.
This union isn't that utopic anymore. With further growing awareness, a real Turkic Union will be born, in a similar structure with EU. Thanks for the work, mister! You've gained one more sub ☺️🎉
@Redford Kobayashi The thing is that these countries have great resources like gold, uranium, natural gas etc. Some of them are successful at tourism too. Like Uzbekistan is a good place for historical tourism and if we advertise it more through this EU type union, more people will come. And Turkey is already the most famous one with a great tourism industry. Now we are advancing at technology as well. If all our countries are administrated well we will be richer than most EU countries as they are deriving their wealth from exploiting others while the Turkic countries have their own rich sources. We just need to get rid of dictators like Turkmenistan's president and cooperate for a better future where the wealth can be used for people as well not just for the ones ruling the country
Thank you very much. And a very warm welcome to the channel. The idea of a Turkic Union is fascinating. But it will require a lot of political commitment and a lot of trust. The EU has shown it can only work if all the members agree to follow the rules. It will be very interesting indeed to see how this evolves.

For us, the Turkmens, Organization of Turkic States is an important forum where we can discuss relations with Turkic countries of Central Asia as well as with Azerbaijan and Turkey. For the real regional economic projects, we choose partners based on their geographical location, not on which language they speak. Here is a couple of examples: Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline was built through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to China, new line is planned to be built to China from Turkmenistan through Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Another massive gas pipeline TAPI is now being built from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan and Pakistan to India. These are two major transnational projects for Turkmenistan that include both Turkic speaking countries and non-Turkic countries.
@@JamesKerLindsay I don’t know, it’s up to the leadership of our country to choose membership status in international or regional organizations. What I am certain about is that alignment of our country in such organizations would be based on Turkmenistan’s neutrality status. As a permanently neutral state, we can’t become a member of any organization with strict regulatory functions or collective responsibility of member states. I understand a bit our foreign policy as I am a former Turkmen diplomat:)
India project is very hard since it will pass through Afghanistan and Pakistan. Turkmenistan will so much rely on China, Turkmenistan needs Trans-Caspian pipeline through Azerbaijan and Turkiye to Europe. Kazakhistan also needs another pipeline to Azerbaijan, Turkiye, Europe.
Bro Turkmenistan is like the Switzerland of Asia, trying to remain neutral and get along with everyone and do business with everyone. Greetings from Turkey
This is a great review on the situation in the Turkic world, my hat off to the author. From a Kazakh perspective, it looks like this potential alliance has a sound base, albeit with a number of challenges: - the Turkic countries don't have closely integrated economies, but the most important thing is trust between the nations - this thing should be cherished; - the countries indeed are split geographically, and this happened mostly when the Russian empire crushed the Nogai and Crimean khanates. The situation seemed unchangeable until recently, and we might as well see another opportunity present itself in that region; - the two dominant powers in the region have a lot to lose from the growing Turkic cooperation, that is definitely a challenge, and perhaps the Turkic leader(-s) could propose a solution, which could benefit all stakeholders and stabilise the region; - what is also important is that Turkic nations are on the rise. The demographics are solid, the industrial capacity of the western part of the bloc and the resources and vast living space of the eastern part make such an alliance a self-sufficient one, and capable of benefiting international security. If we imagine a unified economic and political space from the Balkans all the way to Kashgar (Xingjiang) - China will get its "belt" and an alternative to Russia, Europe will get access to all resources Eurasia has to offer (natural gas, metals, etc), Russia will be covered from the South much like it already is by Kazakhstan but along all of its border, the US and the West will acquire a natural ally, eager to contribute to NATO efforts. Who knows, we might get to see this unfold during our lifetime.
Turkish perspective; - We really need to increase our cultural ties foremost. We need to know more about each other. Unfortunately, many of us, all Turkics, still don't know that well about each other. - All Turkic countries should increase awareness about their Turkic identity. After having met some central Asian brothers and sisters, I noted that they don't have a particular warmth for each other. I may have been wrong, I sure hope I was. - Central Asian Turkic countries need way more population. Especially Kazakhs should work on marginalizing the russian minority. Every couple should have at least 3 children, no joke. After all, the bare minimum to maintain the population level of a country is 2.1 children per couple statistically. - We must be wary of Russia and China picking off Turkic countries one by one through financial, political etc. influence. The USA is dangerous to have as an ally and is not trustworthy, so we really need to be calculative and be able and willing to take a hard stance for each other. Tough situation, but we somehow gotta pull through it. We have so much to do, but we cannot give up. If we give up, we will just end up fractured and become Russia, China and the USA's pawns.
Thank you professor for your dedicated and informative video. I am from Azerbaijan and I think it would be better to indicate Azerbaijan's efforts to establish the organization and contributions for strengthening it. The first establishment meeting was held in Nakhchivan city of Azerbaijan which is considered one of the most strategic and symbolic part of turkic world. Azerbaijan plays primary role as the bridge between Türkiye and central Asia. More importantly, because of its complicated geopolitics (having borders with Iran and Russia which both of them sees Azerbaijan as its "lost territory") Azerbaijan deeply needs to be part of a balancing, emerging power. Particularly, after having won second Karabakh war in 2020 and liberated its territories and started with peace talks with Armenia somehow disturbed İran. (Mainly due to several millions of ethnic Azerbaijanis living in Iran and growing importance of Middle corridor) By the way, in the last meeting of the organization in Ozbekistan for the first time ever Azerbaijani president talked openly about rights of ethnic Azerbaijanis living in Iran, particularly emphasizing their right to study in their native language. Yeap, these are actually kind of topics which it takes so long to talk about. Again grateful to you to uncover so much in a short video🙂
If the only cost is Armenian and Kurdish lives, why not start wars, right? I’m happy the Azeri people live under dictatorship, they should rejoice under the great Aliyev family. Lol, the Coca Cola company is older than AZ as a state.
35-40 million Azerbaijanis live in Iran, it is also good to consider that western Afganistan are also speaking Turkish. Love from Azerbaijan. Turkey’s army technology is the key here. As just two days ago, Turkish Foreign minister demanded China to give an answer for many Uygurs died in fire because of China locked them to the house. Seem like Turkey wants to be USAs best buddy like in Ukraine, against Chine.
i think this video topic and the analysis is an important transformation that is occurring not just in the Turkic sphere but also throughout the world in general... personally, i would appreciate further analysis of this trend
Thank you very much. It’s my opinion that in today’s modern Politics in order to have a say in important world matters you have to join a block to cooperate on important issues (such as the EU or ASEAN). The fact is that Azerbaijan where I am from won’t achieve the same levels of political influence on their own. However, with the help of the organization of Turkuc states through consensus based cooperation can we play a more significant role on world stage.

Thx such a valuable work this is. 😇 I am from Bodrum, Turkey and my wife is from Almatı Kazakhstan. This unification was a dream to all Turkish empire in the past... It is called “Kızıl Elma“ (Red Apple). Now it seems it will be real for after hundereds years of dreaming. I really don't care who will be the leader of this new state but I only want this to be a powerful, balancing, peace keeping unification. And i want my relatives in Turkisthan to learn more about their banned history and return to their origin. What i saw in Kazakhstan when I was there was either promising and sad. Because most of the people still speaks and writes in Russian that is really bad. On the other hand I witnessed that young generation is so much interested in their history and culture. Hope we will become one and the peace, prosperity will come to all our people. P.S. We are ready to shed our blood for any of our brothers if there is any thread from their neighbours!!! Divided we fall, together we rise!

The most important problem facing the Union is transportation. The lack of a highway between Türkiye and Turkistan makes transportation difficult. I hope that a land connection can be established between Türkiye and Turkistan by making the necessary compromises in the future. All obstacles except transportation can be overcome thanks to the feelings of love and brotherhood we feel for each other. The United Turkic States path goes from South Azerbaijan that is in NW of current Iran. South Azerbaijan will be the second big Turkic state after Turkiye with about 30 million. The country will play a critical role uniting the Turkic states and will make it more powerful so that should be the main focus of newly organized Turkic unity.

Georgia is a freindly state to turkey who also isn't friends with russia or armenia, that gives good land connection to azerbaijan which is on the coast of the caspian sea, from there more efficient large shipping vessels can transport to the otherside of the caspian sea where two central Asian countries, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan have large shore lines, plus Uzbekistan is not very far away from the shores either
One necessary compromise is the Astrakhan-Nogai steppes. It resolves the logistics problem. We saw it happen before, we better be ready for it. When Turkistan broke free it was Turkiye who was there, offering support in so many aspects.
It won't be one state but union like European Union. It is still nice development, maybe other Turkic communities in Russia and China can join in future; Uyghurs, Altais and others.
Thanks for doing this video professor, very prudent topic in the current situation. I’m glad you went over some of that history, it’s so important for contextualizing current geopolitics. It’s always so interesting to read the some of the comments with local perspectives, especially on a video like this where you’re talking about a number of different countries. It will be interesting to see how this Turkic bloc develops, especially given the ties of several eastern members to Beijing which badly wants to step into the region. From the perspective of the Western Powers, it would be preferable if Turkey can at least balance out Beijing’s influence in Central Asia, even if it can’t get rid of their natural trade links south. The wild card is Turkmenistan and its totalitarian regime which is “perpetually neutral”, if the regime ever falls it could be a scramble for influence in what would become a quite wealthy ally. Your point about Erdogan’s expansionist and legacy-defining vision being the force that will ultimately define this project is I think right on the money, as Turkey has already established an informal empire from North Africa through the Middle East and the Caucasus, with Turkish clients or allies entrenched in Libya, Northern Cyprus, Northern Syria, and Azerbaijan. Thanks again Dr. Ker Lindsay for another great video!
Thanks so much LocalLt. Always appreciated. Yes, it’s certainly something to watch. And the comments are fascinating, aren’t they. Quite a range of views.

Close cooperation and a union is inevitable. I'm surprised you did not mention that many of these Turkic states, if not all, are planning and have intent to change their alphabet from Cyrillic to Latin, there's some close cooperation in defence and energy between Turkiye and the Turkic states, all of which seems to indicate a closer orbit to Turkiye.
Prof. James first of all I would like to thank you for this presentation you have prepared and present my respects. I believe that you should definitely know that in all Turkic languages, the word Turkic or Turkish are expressed as the Turk. In fact, this distinction was made to facilitate the occupation during the Soviet period, but the political balances supported it. The fact that English is the most common language in the world also made it seem like there was a difference.
Also, it could benefit with a new wave of Turkic nationalism and Pan-Turkism, since the situation in Russia will most likely result in new Turkic Nations gaining independence. Tatarstan, Tuva, Altai, Sakha, etc... It’s not exactly assured, but is becoming more and more likely

Thanks very much for this informative video. I am from South Azerbaijan in Iran where nearly 30 million Azerbaijanis live. My question is about the influence of this organisation on awakening nationalist movements among Irani Azerbaijanis and how do you think the Persians will react to this. Iran has been supporting Armenia for the last 30 years as Armenia has been created by Russians as a barrier or buffer to the geographical unification of the Turkic world. After the liberation of Karabagh, it seems Iranian regime has changed its policy against the Republic of Azerbaijan and trying to gain influence in Azerbaijan by supporting radical Shiite groups. With the current situation in Caucasus, it is not hard to foresee that the focus of the Turkic world will be more than ever on the independence of South Azerbaijan which is the most critical piece of land as a connecting bridge between the Eastern and Western Turkic countries. This means Iran may face serious threat of territorial disintegration in the near future. For the last 100 years since the collapse of the last Turkic Azerbaijani dynasty of Qadjar in Iran, the political system has been monopolised by Persians. 30 million Azerbaijanis have no rights to get education in their own language. No media or press in Azerbaijani language and the totalitarian Iranian regime is spending huge wealth of the country on systematic assimilation policies against the Azerbaijanis. This has caused rightful reactions from the Azerbaijani political activists and Iran has appreciated every opportunity to label them as separatists which gives them legitimacy to jail, exile or execute them every now and then whenever there are social unrests for different reasons. With the rise of Azerbaijani nationalism in Iran and the regime’s anti-Azerbaijani aggression, do you think the establishment of this organisation right in the back yard will cause tensions or even wars between Iran and its neighbouring Turkic countries?
Dear friend , brother. We all are now see that Iran did some interesting policy to the turkish people of Azerbaycan. They use religion to unify Iran but behind this policy they try to strengthen the farsi nationalism. They trying to influence North Azerbaycan by religion to save themselve to that what will come. South Azerbaycan will and must be independent. I see no other way out for the future. Also I believe that the Turkish Azerbaycan people of Irak and Syria will establish own territories if the western countries try to established new ideas in that region. We will see and during this time all the people pf Türkiye and Azerbaycan and the other states are looking to our peoples in Iran. The Azerbaycan and Qahqai and Türkmens of Iran. If you are in danger we will help.Thats for sure...
A barrier in the Turkic world, lol. Just open any map of 300 AD and there will be Armenia on it. The Turkish world heritage site of "Ani" was Armenia's medieval capital. Turkey and Azerbaijan exist as a result of the Seljuks moving from Central Asia to West Asia. Armenia was not created, Armenia was reduced because of Turkic colonisation.
30 million Azeris in Iran, nice joke. Most censuses indicate that Turkic speaking people account for 16-18% of Iran's population of 86million, this is max. 15mio people. Only the Northwestern provinces have such majorities, there is no way that they could represent 40% of Iran's population lol
I've long been interested in the idea of Turkic cooperation. It was talked about a lot in the early 1990s, but never came to anything. So, do you think that they are now starting to form a new union? And could it emerge as an important bloc in International relations? As ever, I look forward to hearing your thoughts and comments below.

@seangiang3454Erdogan can do what he wants. You can go back to coping.

I wanted to Leave some insights:

Difference between Mongolia and Kazakhstan is, Mongolia does not have much resources, China and Russia see it good as a buffer zone btw them. Kazakhstan has so much resources. A Turkic union is the best and only option for Kazakhstan.
The Russians see northern Kazakhstan as their own country. It was given to the Kazakhs, they say.

Very true! When I’m traveling in those countries I always feel home!

This is why Turkey and Azerbaijan are working hard to establish a corridor between themselves and Armenia. Thanks Gevin. Yes, I’ve been following the Open Balkan Initiative. I actually answered a question about it in my most recent Q&A video.
Great video as always 👍 and if there's one thing going for the Turkic Council, they've got an awesome looking flag!
Haha!

Amazing video! I’m getting a clear sense where things are headed geopolitically. Thanks!
Thank you so much! It is absolutely fascinating to watch all this playing out.
@Redford Kobayashi naah remember that all the goodies are in midleeast sooo...
@@JamesKerLindsay EU needs United Turks just beacuse their security and stable economic target. If Turks get united, EU can get energy easily and stable. As we see today, Russia,China and USA conflicts are effective EU directly. Rus FED. has big lands and China has big population. It means Russian Fed. lands under risk of Chinese invasion. China needs energy and land/space for high population and huge economy.

Fully Chinese products Indian engineers etc.
Thanks. Of course, Turkmenistan isn't a full member of the Organisation. Do you see that changing?
@@JamesKerLindsay I don’t know, it’s up to the leadership of our country to choose membership status in international or regional organizations. What I am certain about is that alignment of our country in such organizations would be based on Turkmenistan’s neutrality status. As a permanently neutral state, we can’t become a member of any organization with strict regulatory functions or collective responsibility of member states. I understand a bit our foreign policy as I am a former Turkmen diplomat:)
TAPI is project that is on paper only. It may be decades before it actually materializes due to instability in Afghanistan and Indo-Pak tensions.
From a Kazakh perspective, it looks like this potential alliance has a sound base, albeit with a number of challenges:
- the Turkic countries don't have closely integrated economies, but the most important thing is trust between the nations - this thing should be cherished;
- the countries indeed are split geographically, and this happened mostly when the Russian empire crushed the Nogai and Crimean khanates. The situation seemed unchangeable until recently, and we might as well see another opportunity present itself in that region;
- the two dominant powers in the region have a lot to lose from the growing Turkic cooperation, that is definitely a challenge, and perhaps the Turkic leader(-s) could propose a solution, which could benefit all stakeholders and stabilise the region;
- what is also important is that Turkic nations are on the rise.
Turkish perspective;
- We really need to increase our cultural ties foremost.

(Mainly due to several millions of ethnic Azerbaijanis living in Iran and growing importance of Middle corridor)
By the way, in the last meeting of the organization in Ozbekistan for the first time ever Azerbaijani president talked openly about rights of ethnic Azerbaijanis living in Iran, particularly emphasizing their right to study in their native language.
Yeap, these are actually kind of topics which it takes so long to talk about. Again grateful to you to uncover so much in a short video🙂
Thank you. Yes, Azerbaijan clearly plays a pivotal role as the link between Turkey and the other Turkic states.

The most important problem facing the Union is transportation. The lack of a highway between Türkiye and Turkistan makes transportation difficult. The United Turkic States path goes from South Azerbaijan that is in NW of current Iran. South Azerbaijan will be the second big Turkic state after Turkiye with about 30 million.

Wow first time I heard about that change that makes me so excited.

This broke my heart. 🖤 we are all hoping and praying for you freedom. Love from Istanbul.
Lmao its not a liberation of Karabakh when the majority is of Armenian origin…
