Good information! I love the inkwell because of the paper quality but felt I didn't need that much space. I'm now trying the bullet journaling. Still have a bit to go to figure out "my" style but it's nice to be able to change it whenever I want. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much for sharing this video. I felt like you were speaking to me. I did fall into the whole pretty and decorative planner trend. I did my research and found one that I thought would work for me. Got a bunch of accessories and stickers. It just made me want to go crazy because I couldn't get it perfect lol. Although it has helped me a ton to get and stay organized, I realize now what I really need and what will work for me. I do like to decorate, just not to the extreme like some do. Unfortunately the planner I fell in love with is out of stock right now. Uhhhh! Guess I'll have to wait. Great tips. Thank you! 😊

I totally agree! I about just burned my planner in the back yard. I was so frustrated that I couldn't get a "perfect" planner like those I follow

Thank you SO MUCH for this video!! I am just starting to actually use my weekly planner better and I found there are SO many videos showing how to decorate the dang thing to the max. Lord, I need help with categorizing and set up and every video shows all these decorating videos that to me I just would NOT have the time to do. I appreciate your advice and I also love Colored PENS and that is about as decorative I will get. I have subscribed to your channel and you have been the BEST video I have seen these past few days. Thank you again and I just got my 2017 Inkwell Press Live Well planner from Office Depot and I am super excited to use it in January. :)

tfs, excellent encouraging advice. Something i'd like to share is that i have struggled terribly with finding planner peace, with shiny new object syndrome, with planner envy. So i have sunk a good size fortune into every type of planner available. One thing has become crystal clear for me is that i love & need the versatility of ring bounders but due to worsening of severe arthritis in my dominant hand i can no longer use rings. My hubby has removed the rings from my planners and i've replaced them with the discbound planners which are a blessing for my painful hands.

Love this video! You are the one who taught me how to use a planner. Right now I am using Happy Planner for my home life. I like the fact that you can add and remove pages and be more compact than a binder. I use the Uncalendar for my business. I love the weekly setup. The right side is all about planning out your week-they have different boxes for notes, important tasks, etc., and the left side is the calendar for the week. I also have a monthly/weekly datebook that I use just for appts. for everything and it fits in my purse, and I use a composition notebook where I have my detailed daily to do list. I love it because I can get messy with it, cross things off when finished and toss it when its full. I can also carry it in my purse. Sounds like a lot but I love this system and its working so well for me. Thank you so much!!! Yes, I love to decorate too, but planning comes first!

Hi! Your right, unless I post pictures no one is going to see my planner. I have used the Blue Sky Daily Planners in the past for my family log, and currently for my kids homeschool planners. I will continue to use those, they are our totally beat up, not pretty, used everyday, what are we doing today planners. You are right, planning is different than journaling/memory keeping. I just needed it finalized in my head. Thank you for the video.👏🏻🤗😃

I used the Franklin Glover full yearly planner in leather from 2008 which has the spiral pages, Bonjour full Weekly planner from 2007 5X7 from Barnes and Noble that I just add the refills every 18 months. I decided to add The Reset planner because I like the design and functions. However, I purchase Reset Girl box set and accessories on sale of black friday, also, Michael's, Dollar Tree, Tuesday Morning have sales and things are $1. I will not be using weekly or monthly planning sets because it is expensive. Yes, fill every thing in then go back to decorate with tickers and stamps. great video

Awesome video with great information! I'm waiting for my first planner to arrive and very excited! I love your realistic approach to planning as I am a very functional person. With that said, I equally love bring creative. I've just started posting videos as well on a regular basis and I'm trying to get this all organized. So, thanks so much for the great information and down to earth approach to this - it put me more at ease.

I don't even have a planner yet, but I am starting to get into it. I like how you separate the two of actual planning and decorating. washi tape is great and I plan to use as well but that's decorating not planning unless you use it to color coordinate something to organize in your planner.

I downloaded the last 2 months of this year and have begun prepping myself for the new year. I can not wait to jump in to this beautiful new planner and be super motivated this next year. Thank you for this, as someone just deciding to start planning it was very helpful. I’m happy to hear you say that decorating is fun but isn’t actually planning, because i was starting to feel a little daunted by all the supplies I would need to get lol. I want to start in a simple way that doesn’t get overwhelming to keep up with and I think I’ve managed to figure out the basic bits I need... I just need to go find them! And then I can always add things later once I get my head around it all... thank you again!

I just found a decent size planner at Walmart, only thing I wish it had was a zip loc holder for pens. It was a cheap $10 one. And I have a monthly, weekly one. The first thing I did was my work schedule, and then I did bdays... Thanks for your video!

Great video ! I am about to start planning for 2017, I normally don't plan I just get a weekly monthly planner to write appt. or any events issues with my 2 boys at school. This year I did not do anything just a little note book, but I want to plan and have everything in one place also to go back an check of any event that happened that I need to track. So you gave me an idea that I really just need a monthly planner but I also need maybe not a weekly planner but a journal 📓, I also want to have something to write on the go. I work outside my house. OMG you just clear my thought of planning, I being watching planner videos from different you tubers since 2015, and I got it clear now, what I really need to do. Any suggestions to me I will gladly apreciarte it. Thanks so much 😍😀

Your adorable! Thanks so much for all the advice and encouragement. I used a planner years ago for college, but have not done so since. My life coach, i.e. therapist, recently encouraged me to purchase a nice journal or planner for myself. She said I should reward myself more, and take time out of the day for myself. I was seriously, like, really? I have tons of paper why would I buy something, anyhow if I was going to write I would type on the computer. Then I came across bullet journaling on Pinterest. I was intrigued by the setting of goals, and time management, and journaling, and drawing all mixed into one book just for me. I also started to struggle to remember when kids had different activities. I also, remembered having a small calendar as a child that I would write little important events in, and it ended up almost being a journal type thing for me. So I started to think more and more about this planner, journal thing. I did a TON of research, and finally after seriously a month of stressing over if I would really even use a planner and should I waste the money on one? I finally just bit -the-bullet and bought a Macaron A5 planner for like $25. Then I thought about it, seriously, I was super excited to start my bullet planner, and here it took me a month to do this one little thing for "me". My doctor is right I need to take more time out for "me". I have worked extremely hard to have the life I have, to be able to afford a planner, and the comforts I have, I should, (we women should) reward ourselves occasionally. It is amazing how such a small thing can make such a huge difference in our lives. My new Macaron planner arrived today, I'm not sure if it is my love of my life planner, it's a bit thin, but I am excited about trying it out. I also, am happy that I took a step in self nurturing, and plan to have a page designated to ideals for ways to take time out of the day just to take care of "me". I appreciated the point you made about our planners not having to be Instagram ready. To be honest I was a little nervous about putting pen to paper, with a brand new crisp planner, and my awful handwriting, so thanks for the reminder that it doesn't have to be beautiful, life is messy, I'm just going to go for it. Look forward to buying some fun inserts and when you suffer from occasional depression, and anxiety looking forward is a great accomplishment.

It hit close to home when you mentioned depression and anxiety which I continuously suffer from - so I am looking a getting my very first lifestyle planner to hopefully aid my mental health. I really enjoyed this video, informative and calming :) Thank you for linking those websites - I live in New Zealand and not much options out there.

I love this video! I appreciate all the videos about making things look cute, but planners can be pricey and if you don't pick one that's actually going to be functional--if you don't consider how or why you are going to plan--than the planner loses its purpose.

I loved your video. I started to write my life's story down & realised most of it wasn't truly significant to planners. But you must have a kind and caring soul as I t shows in how youb explain things. I've always been a drawn to anything artistic.. From jewelry to watercolour painting. Right now, scrapbooking and card making are the things I'm enjoying most and now, planning. I can't do real shopping due to my disability so, most of it is online. Not paying attention to size & layout I bought the big MAMBI kit because it was pretty. But as I've done the first 3 months. I am now working on April. Thing is an empty nester who is disabled & ill, my life isn't the big busy machine it once was. And I'm finding other than the monthly spreads, the day to day pieces get lost. Because my day to day is nothing really. I'm thinking of maybe journaling with some photos? I just don't. know what to do with it? I could give it to my daughter...she now has the llife I once knew. Any suggestions or ideas that would be helpful and very much appreciated. But more than anything I wanted you to know for some reason your video made me feel a bit better. God Bless.
