The Sauron's entrance was very lore accurate. Razing the entire field, showing up and bringing back a big ass dragon, making every middle earth creature tremble in fear. Nice play.
Already noticed two missed triggers 🤦 I should have drawn cards with Frodo after being tempted by the ring, and the Rapacious Guests should have made me another 4 foods. There were so many triggers around combat! I’m definitely playing this deck again in the future, so at least I’ll know for then.
We got the decks about 2 hours before we filmed, so I was still feeling out the deck when I was playing. But now I’ve played with it a bit more, I think Merry and Pippin would make the deck a lot more focused. Maybe add in White Plume Adventurer and Seedborn Muse plus a few token doublers and a Chatterfang, Agent of the Iron Throne and Academy Manufactor, then ‘Overrun’ your opponent for the kill. But don’t get me wrong, I really love the synergy between this version of Frodo and Sam and I’d keep them in the deck (Sam in particular is brilliant).

The deck is very powerful, played a couple games last night and wiped the floor both games, with the last game just coming back hard to 33 health from a measly 2.
Galadriel produces 2 human knight tokens, not one. That deck is sooooo strong! Can’t wait to get my hands on these precons and play with them. Great show guys!

Top game lads, dont worry about those triggers, we're all human. Brilliant finish to the game and I'm actually on Matts side with the lack of lotr knowledge, I've seen the films, I'm a nerd, but sadly its not my cup of tea.
Missed some food triggers, missed the life loss from the ravens when you put him at 2 life lol, also as a pre-requisite to the game you should have made him watch all the extended versions of the movies.
Definitely missed a bunch of triggers on the food deck but that’s understandable with new cards and mechanics. Great game! I’m excited to play these decks with my group.
Love the LOTR commander decks. I’ve played them several times, mainly because of the art and nostalgia. Often times the Rohan and Mordor decks come off as the largest threats because of early board state, but hobbits and elves can very sneakily build while everyone worries about the other 2 decks. I’ve also found that with these precon decks, Gandalf is the better commander for elves and Saruman is the better commander for Mordor.
If I ever get invited on to another Chad Magic episode, I’d love to bring this back with some upgrades! I tuned up the Magus Lucea Kane deck I played for the Warhammer 40k episode and it’s sweet. In the process of tuning up my hobbits deck now (and switching commanders to Merry and Pippin)!

I am not sure if anyone has noticed, but when the Scourge of Throne was stolen and attacked, it was attacking the person with the most life, and he should have gotten the extra attack phase.
Would this work even though I, as the attacker, was on the most life? I was on 25 but Matt was on 24? The wording on scourge doesn't say 'player other than you' so thought I'd got it right... Christian
@@TheChadMagic I believe it would depend on the triggering of the stacks, since Scourge stats when it "attacks" the player with the highest life and attack triggers, from my understanding, trigger before anything else. Matt gained 2 life when you attacked him putting him at 26 and you lost 2 putting you at 23. I could be wrong but that was my interpretation of the triggers. Please if anyone knows better please inform me!

I've watched a couple early games with these commanders and it's making me rethink my Sauron purchase. That one died 1st every time. I would love to make it work but it seems tough.
I think it’s always the danger with a high CMC commander that’s so impactful! You almost have to lock the game down on the turn you play your commander!
ive loved my Sauron deck, its scary it makes you feel like the big bad guy and if you play it right and let the players hate each other while you slowly build, you can explode and win REALY fast
I think there’s always a place for high powered commander(and we have a CEDH game coming out really soon!) but the true joy of EDH for me is random janky stuff rather than aggressive tutoring and early combos Glad you enjoyed the show!

Question, at 7:23 when he casts Galadriel, he ignores the beginning of combat trigger. Therefore, this type of trigger, like the Shadrix one, can only happen when there is no summoning sickness?
Hi and thanks for watching and commenting! The rules text on Galadriel reads “another elf” so she wouldn’t trigger on the turn that she enters unless another elf did as well! I wasn’t aware that the shadrix silverquill trigger didn’t go off due to summoning sickness, the card certainly doesn’t read that way?

I don't know if what happened at 14:38 is the correct interpretation of how Gandalf's ability because I was thinking that it meant if someone reveals a spell that shares a card type with the spell you cast you can cast a copy of that spell like for example if you cast a Halo-charged Skaab and an opponent reveals a creature spell you get a cast a copy of the creature spell your opponent revealed not that you cast another copy of the original creature spell you cast! At least that's my opinion on how I think it was intended to function so until I see how the card functions on mtg arena I will believe that is how it was intended to function!
I think you may be right! As Ollie said, the rules text on my cards was longer than the actual LOTR books! Normally we will try and get a ruling on complicated cards like that but time pressures hahah
I don't think so. "Whenever you cast a spell with mana value 5 or greater, each opponent reveals the top card of their library. If any of those cards shares a card type with that spell, copy that spell, you may choose new targets for the copy, and each opponent draws a card. Otherwise, you draw a card. (A copy of a permanent spell becomes a token.)" Spells are only "spells" after they are cast. Since you're revealing cards off the tops of their decks the only spell involved is the original one the Gandalf player cast.
People are still learning the new ring mechanics as well as the decks. Once I got the gist of it, my turns started going by quick. But yeah it is a lot of triggers. Why I love the deck so much
It was a really fun deck to play, but I felt really snowed under by the triggers around the combat phase, and as soon as another player said something in response, I lost my trail of thought. But I've played with it a few more times since, and I agree with @b_rant_gaming8835 - it's a lot more fun once you get the hang of it.

I always enjoy slower decks doing well in commander. It’s rare to see, most games I play people try to go infinite/kill the board by turn 5 😂

He could've played the dragon earlier in the turn that he summoned Sauron and swung with haste to get another combat

That’s correct, based on reading the card, it will trigger even on the turn it enters with summoning sickness - don’t play it 2nd main then!!

Unfortunately not! The rule text reads “another elf”! There’s about 5 minutes of cut footage where I explain this to Christian and Matt!

How many tokens come with the Food deck?
10 double-sided tokens plus a Ring emblem. You’ve got soldiers, goats, treefolk, halflings, treasure and food. Hope that helps!
the food deck has too many triggers and small things that take time to resolve. super annoying deck to play with or against
