The Metro series.. beyond the monsters, it does beg the question of the types of weapons that could be deployed during a full scale exchange. Cobalt bombs were officially never pursued past the conceptual stage but what if thats a lie? Even a single detonation would be disastrous for whatever country or region so bitterly unlucky enough to be targeted by onr
I've run the sim many times, there's never been a good outcome. Russia has a Vast area, so, large part of it survive, to a point. Nato countries seem to be at a basic disadvantage in the size of the territories, smaller, much closer together, more compact populations. The advantage is with Russia in that regard, but, no one wins over all, the radiation plumes would wrap around the world several times over and kill everyone over time I think.
@@mrnobodyinvr9762 yep, totally agreed. We’ve seen from nuclear accidents, Chernobyl in particular how devastating both the short and long term effects are. And given them payload of modern nuclear weapons, it really doesn’t bear thinking about! I guess smaller territories make it easier to defend, but as the sim shows, you can’t stop everything. You have to be lucky every time, your enemy only has to be lucky once!
@@DPSComputing ohhh ya, there's no Defending against a full on Nuclear attack. Its a shotgun load of 25MT warheads shot out of a hypersonic missile the size of a 17 story tall building. No beating that. I find running the sim interesting. Its interesting to see what choices the computer makes, positioning, first strike zones and the amount of deaths per hit, and after several hits, but, I grew up thru the 80s, its all very real, and with the amount of idiots and egos out there now, it seems to be very sure that we will see at least One strike, it will be a nasty refresher on how delicate the balance really is.
@@mrnobodyinvr9762 I've seen in general that in an AI war, Russia comes out on top a lot because the AI doesn't like deploying carriers or subs into the arctic. HOWEVER if say it's an EU player that an AI Russia is facing against, the EU player can send out fighter planes on one-way recon missions to highlight any Russian airbases, radars and silos, and then launch all their bombers on those and even cities. Submarines can follow up if there's no air attack threat. Wild stuff.

DEFCON 1 🚀💥🔥
That initially looked like it was going ok, particularly for the US.
Definitely mutually assured destruction!

Is this the free one game or...
Nah, it’s paid. Unless they’ve started giving it away.
Normally has offers on Steam.
Update: DEFCON can be played for free on Steam
This is highly inaccurate no nuclear submarines were used among many many other resources
It's a game
