As an American living in China, I can tell you that this guy is the best you'll find. His pronunciation is so clear. He's better at teaching than the Chinese people. I'm also a teacher and very critical. He speaks at the perfect speed. Chinese people always speak too fast or too slow. OMG! You should be charging a lot for your classes. Good luck. I hope you don't mind I left my comment. And you might want to take this video and make a different version with more modern energetic music for when people are not sleeping or they just don't like this music. You can also make a version with no music. Then you'll have more than one video for people to find you. You can take this video without music and cut it into small sections so you have more videos. Great work. Good luck.

Thanks for the comment. Do you have a VPN. I heard they were hard to come by these days.

Eko Languages I don't know what a VPN is. If it's validation to live in China, I'm actually in Hong Kong. I've lived here a long time and have a very good ear for both Cantonese and Mandarin. So what is VPN?

    • @alyshatetens6672
      @alyshatetens6672 7 років тому +21

Eko Languages Actually, I was thinking how unfair this video is to you because your English is also impeccable pronunciation and now you'll have Chinese speakers learning English from your vid. 😂😂😂 Honestly, your enunciation is such a clear and standard form of English that I thought you might be CIA. 😂😂.

VPN means virtual private network. It is a way to get around the internet firewall. But Hong Kong doesn´t need it. I have been there too and liked it very much. I think cantonese is harder than Mandarin too. So if you know both, I am impressed!!!!!

    • @alyshatetens6672

Eko Languages I've subbed your channel. I found all your other vids. Thumbs up, of course. If I come across anyone who wants Chinese or English over the internet I'll make sure they have your contact info but you better charge the normal rate which is much higher than what I think I saw you mention. I'll try to stay in touch sporadically. Love your work. 💜💜💜

I've been studying Mandarin Chinese for just over a week now and I am actually surprised at how easy it is to get the hang of the sentence structure. The hardest part is definitely reading and getting the tones right, but apart from that, I think that I know more than I thought I'd know by this point.

I really appreciate the free “learn Chinese” videos in general, but yours is really the best so far! The content is much more like day-to-day Chinese and less classroom style, and I really like this.
But the best thing about your video is your voice. Unlike similar videos made by others, your voice doesn’t give me a headache 😂
    So thank you so much!

    • @johnviarengo373

I agree, there is something about the voice, I am an intermediate student so my understanding is quite limited but the voice seems more like how I expect people speak, rather than "announcer" Chinese.

As a native mandarin speaker, I can tell that ur pronunciations way much better than most of the mandarin learners. I suppose u learnt mandarin in Beijing or some cities in northern China cuz u pronounce 一点 like 一点儿, which is cute.

I noticed this as well! I had to ask a Chinese co-worker (I work in a Chinese owned facility in the U.S.) what the pronunciation should be. I assume both are acceptable, somewhat like a Northern and Southern accent here in the U.S.?

I watch this video as my first experience of learning Chinese, that was exactly 1 year ago. I have grown so much in fluency and am still on this journey. I came from writing like a dork, to memorizing the exact stoke order, from speaking horrible, to knowing all the tones of the characters I had learned so far. Although I'm not perfect, I have reach a massive milestone. 365 days ago is when I first watch this, thank you so much Eko Languages for introducing me to Mandarin. 再见👋.

This was very useful also everyone, please know that in China, native speakers don’t really answer yes or no questions this completely. You can either repeat the verb used to answer yes and bú(不) + the verb to answer no.
    Do you know his name?
Nǐ zhīdào tā de míngzì ma? (你知道他的名字吗?)
    Yes
    Zhīdào (知道)
    No
    Bù zhīdào (不知道)
Exception verb is ‘have’ w/c is yǒu (有) cause you negate it with méi (没) instead of bù. Hope this helps.

My university has been selected for four years in Japanese, to learn Japanese first look at the history of Japanese history, the Tang Dynasty when China's national strength, the Tang Dynasty capital Changan is now the world's only one in the world population of more than one million cities For example, North Korea Korea (Korea), Japan (Yamato), Vietnam, Thailand and so on are China's vassal state, that time sent to Japan to send Changan to study in Chang'an, that is, today's students, they learn Chinese characters after Changan back To Japan to create their own text, their text, including now there are a lot of Chinese characters, some Japanese words only use the Chinese characters radical, so the Japanese have a pseudonym with the pseudonym of the points, but for Japanese reading is not the same as Chinese , In order to distinguish between Chinese characters, they made some changes in the pronunciation of Chinese characters, but also after the integration of some English pronunciation, but the meaning of Chinese characters inside the Japanese basically did not change, and because the Tang Dynasty capital Changan is located in northwest China, so the Japanese There are some words pronounced with the Chinese mainland northwest dialect pronunciation base Like, some buildings such as Kyoto, Japan are in accordance with Chang'an City was built, very Tang Yun wind, I think the Japanese language is not difficult, if you know Chinese school up faster ~

Your Chinese is great. In Chinese, we normally dont deny twice. For example, if someone else ask you, Can you speak English? In English, we say No, I can't. In Chinese, we say 我不会 instead of 不,我不会。 They are both correct, bur former one is more natural.

Tip: If you are a gamer you can listen to this while gaming. (I say this as I used to spend hours on hours playing games like WoW, Starcraft, WC3, Oblivion, Skyrim, etc etc)
As long as the game isn't too fast paced and you can concentrate on the audio while playing then you'll pick it up pretty fast too. If I could go back to those days I'd definitely have done it.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean you speak Chinese. In any case, if you happen to speak Chinese you could give some positive feedback. Let us know if it's authentic and the phrases are popular and well used in mainland China as that would be very helpful. Not the obvious phrases but some not so obvious like for the phrase "take care" "bao ..... (something)" was used and I've never heard that phrase before.

    Ni hao(Hello)
    Xie xie(Thank you)
Ni neng bang wo ma?(Can you help me?)
Chang cheng(place) zen me zou?(How can i get to The Great Wall?)So if you're going somewhere, you can just add "zen me zou?" behind the place's name.
Wo yao zhe ge(Id like to have this.)You use it when you wanna buy something or in the restaurant.
    Bu(No) Shi de(Yes) Hao(Sure)
    So that's it:)

i've been trying to learn mandarin through a couple different sources and it's fascinating how much of a difference the dialect can make! i guess it makes more sense when you think of how different say, someone from the southern U.S. and someone from New England would speak and how there could even be complete word replacements ("pop"/"coke"/"soda", "water fountain"/"bubbler", "grocery cart"/"buggy")...i dunno if i'm looking at it the right way but it's still super fun. especially when you see a word or a symbol in mandarin and can start to predict what it means. that's a delight.

I love this video. I just let it play and listen to it and repeat after the voice. Some phrases are more like tongue twisters as the tones don't roll off the tongue easily. I love how the phrases are repeated which is very valuable as it gives one a chance to remember what it is. Absolutely brilliant video and the soothing music in the background. I tried leaving it on overnight and couldn't sleep as my brain was too active in learning it so I had to admit defeat and turned it off.

I recommend to dont over think it have mistreat thoughts to your self of repeating the same words and rewinding. You'll begin to understand and speak days later without realizing it if you practice good.

Congratulations - your Mandarin Chinese lecture is very well done; way better than at many other places. I would also have a suggestion about the visual part: emphasize the Hanzi characters - black, large, whatever - and de-emphasize English letters (this is about Mandarin, not English, right?); also de-emphasize the pinyin letters (a helping tool only, right?). Think of what - I dare to presume - is the primary goal of this presentation: teaching Mandarin pronunciation and teaching Hanzi characters. (Sleeping's optional.)

Chinese is very easy to learn. my head hurts while studying basic Spanish, with its so many conjugations and nouns having masculine and feminine forms. English is quite similar because there are conjugations too,but compared to Spanish, English is not as complicated. Chinese is the least complicated grammar wise!! it has the Subject+ verb( no conjugations at all) +object seetense structure.

    • @temqwerty
      @temqwerty 7 років тому +1

miriam tiuseco There are only three types of verb conjugations in Spanish. Once you memorize them it's easy. Well... If we're talking present tense lol

      *Definitely!*
*The common knowledge is that Chinese is "hard".*
*But once you actually learn the logic behind the grammar (which is almost the same with English) and even the characters, it's really much easier compared to Japanese!*

Try learning russian and german will seem like a breeze. :( 5 cases, and adjectives decline!
Don't get me started on arabic, though. Quit that after a semester, but caught a glimpse of what a hot mess semitic languages are.

"Chinese is very easy to learn."
Ha. No. If you think that 'grammar' is merely equivalent to 'verb conjugation', then you're right, but it isn't so you're not.
For a native speaker of some european or related language chinese is difficult because there are NO cognates, so you've got to start vocab from scratch. Whereas a native english speaker looking at a romance language they've never seen before, especially if they're relatively literate, will be able to guess the meaning of tons of words.
But even setting the difficulty of vocab aside. It's simply not true as many claim that 'chinese has no grammar' or 'chinese grammar is super easy.'. I don't mean to be a dick toward you in particular, this is a pet-peeve of mine and it's a common sentiment. There's tons of weird stuff in chinese grammar that takes a while to get a feel for, like '把‘, or '打不开'. Those aren't necessarily extremely difficult things to 'learn', but to get them firmly embedded in your head to where they come naturally is, i'd argue, harder than just i go / she goes, yo entiendo nosotros entendemos.
If you're satisfied with expressing yourself with the equivalent of "Me tarzan you jane", or just sticking to simple SVO sentences at all times (avoiding any embedded clauses) then sure, chinese is easy to learn.
