"AirB&B" was released in the US under the name "Samurai Zombie Nation". In that version you play a giant disembodied samurai's head rather than a tengu, and the people you kill are actually zombies created by aliens (yes, they did rip-off Plan 9 from Outer Space).
The 129 in 1 thing is clearly a Chinese bootleg program. Many plug and plays have that exact UI and sound effects. And of course the "same game under a thousand different names" thing and the "mysterious non-existent sequels" thing.
oh man, the "summer carnival" you skipped over is actually "summer carnival '92 recca" which is a phenomenal shooter that does amazing technical things (like tons of sprites on screen with no slowdown) and has a wonderfully impressive soundtrack; you've gotta give it a try!
The reason why this system has no Zelda or other games which require saving states is it must not have the capability to save games. Pretty unfortunate....
I'd probably wager a guess that their setup lacked Famicom Disk System support altogether, based on the lack of Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels and Metroid as well
ASHENS!!!! I hope you read this, like, alot. Your videos have helped me through so much in the past, through depression and happiness, they've brought so much joy to my life and so much geeky knowledge. So, essentially, what I'm writing this to tell you that you are my favorite youtuber and will be for a long time to come.
I don't understand why they fill these devices with tat when they can download a full NES rom collection from any torrent site and chuck them on the devices. Given they don't seem to care about copyright or trademarks, I don't understand why they don't do it.
Years late, but my guess is that using pre-existing multi-cart ROMs or hacking new ones together is quicker/cheaper than making some sort of custom interface for storing and loading arbitrary ROMs.
Bananan is one of the greatest games of the Famicom, but it took me so much to pass the stage 5-3, whose boss asks questions in Japanese. Kick Master is also amazing, I remember the power system with its dozens of power ups. Captain Tsubasa 2 is just amazing, but so damn long.
Wow, that's a cool device. At first I was thinking it was another "Pop Station" device, but it's actually a little "Famicom" system. I couldn't help but notice that "Abarenb" seems to play pretty similar to "Samurai Zombie Nation". Makes me wonder if "Abarenb" was the original game, but was altered here in the United States into the odder-ball game "Samurai Zombie Nation". Cool video.
5 years later, I'm here to tell you that you are right. "Abarenb" is a truncation of "Abarenbou Tengu" - the original Japanese version of Zombie Nation.
Aww, man, I was really hoping you'd start up that 'Summer CarniCarnival' game. Its full name is Summer Carnival: Recca (usually just called Recca), and it's an amazing shmup that really pushes the limits of the NES/FC. It plays like the fast-paced pre-bullet-hell games, comparable to the old Soldier games (such as Soldier Blade on the TurboGrafx-16/PC-Engine). If you like shmups, you owe it to yourself a go in that game...
Every Jontron fan recognizes the game with the flying head destroying buildings, just the sprites are different for fuck all reasons. I'll stick with my PSP when it comes to retro emulation. It's still the king of it centuries later.
Sprites are different because of localization. They assumed American kids wouldn't understand a giant floating Tengu face so they changed it to a zombie.
Well they were right, but why they didn't change it to a spaceship or something is another matter. Still...we got the glory of NAKED ZOMBIE SEAN CONNERY.
+Leon S. Kennedy which made it make less sense and made it weirder than it would have been otherwise. This still kind of happens with localization teams for certain games, Japan should really stop employing space aliens to localize games for Americans.
Ah it's nice that they have Kyatto Ninden Teyandee on it, that's Samurai Pizza Cats for those outside of Japan. Also Stuart, it has a bloody reset button. LOL.
That Raging Tengu game (Samurai Zombie Nation on the Nes) controls differently with different difficulty levels: on easy it's like a normal shooter, but on hard, like Stuart played it, it has a weird inertia factor to it.
The "T" for the second row of A and B is a turbo button so you dont have to keep pressing the button for every bullet you can just hold one of the turbo buttons down
7 yrs later and still re watching all your videos, by far my favourite toober! But damn it Ashens you said Robocop too many times and didn't sing the song, it's OK I got you! "He is a robot, he is a cop" "He is a Robocop" "They shot his head in, then he was deadin'" "Now he's a Robocop!" 👌
And now, in 2021 the Bittboy has an SD slot. However, the Anbernic RG350 and 351 series consoles are incredibly superior. My favorite is the RG351V as it has the correct 3:4 display ratio and a better screen than the other 351 models.
16:11 ... maybe some alpha/beta versions got shipped out by accident, comparing the box doesn't have the yellow color, says 300 games when there is not on your version but there is on other versions, and then is worded weird saying "pre loaded with 300 games" as to imply like you can load more since the wording for one that you can not update you would expect to be "includes 300 games" and not "pre loaded..." but at the same times doesn't mention the SD slot. Which probably means that the original plans was pre load with 300 games and allow a SD card to put on more, but then before final release they got told they should not allow people to load roms onto it since Nintendo might throw a fit about an emulator being able to play any roms, and so took of the text of a SD slot, but didn't change the wording that implied being able to load more on since that is an easy miss, and since yours was a beta build still had the SD slot with the SD slot removed for legal purposes. That would be my guess as to why some got 300 games and some didn't and why you have a SD slot with no SD reader and why the wording is a bit grey.... Obviously wording can be a bit grey from translation so really means nothing, but with the random color not listed, the 300/129 difference between some people, the empty slot, and the wording combined it seems plausible.
hockeyhacker97 The whole thing about Nintendo throwing a fit over an emulator, while completely understandable, wouldn't mean much. Emulation and emulators are perfectly legal, it's only the ROMs that aren't. It's the same reason why they don't get on the case of people who make emulators for stuff like the Raspberry Pi.
Um well, then you kind of missed exactly my point and fully agreed that that is a plausible reason then, if you re read what I had wrote, I had stated "they probably got advised to not allow people to install their own roms because Nintendo would throw a fit" ... I never said anything against the emulator, I said they where probably advised to not give easy access for downloaded ROMs to get onto the system. While yes they could argue they are not the ones creating the ROMs and the SD slot is there for people who have legal back ups of their games and not intended for piracy, Nintendo could still argue that it would be a easy tool for pirates to use if it was designed to allow more games to be added. Hence why they might have had a SD slot but pulled it before final release due to not wanting to risk getting in a tiff with Nintendo due to allowing illegal products to run on their system. Nintendo has the lawyers where it's advisable to just avoid confrontations like that and just pull the SD functionality out before sale, as such you kind of agreed with my plausible theory while miss understanding what I had said.
Everyone else is talking about Zombie Samurai Nation and here I am just appreciating the fact they included two Kart Fighter engine games on this thing
of course you can..... bloddy hell.. people did that already....(why the Pi Zero may people ask.. because its smaller and all. and you dont need to desolder the HDMI Ports etc because the Zero dont have it to begin with witch makes it smaller)
The only reason why I was thinking about it was mostly to see if the screen's controller board would be hard to mod for the Pi. However, the screen I'm using now is 5 inch wide screen.
