I liked this talk, but I have a couple issues with the analysis section. (I understand that this is supposed to be a simplified example, but I still feel the need to point this out for the sake of encouraging folks to be really thorough and unbiased.) Mary could have stolen the office supplies in an attempt to frame Robin. Sidney's account being "completely independent" is: 1) An unproven assumption (he could be aware of the allegations and have a grudge against Robin - he could even be working with Mary) 2) Even if his account is "completely independent" it doesn't directly relate to Robin in any way (the box of pens could have been taken by anyone) - all proves is that the pens were taken. Thank you for the talk, I found it helpful overall!
2:06 wrong.. common sense isn't common.. rigid procedures and other best practices and actions tempered by lessons learned is the only way to DO ANY operation

It's a really informative and useful video. Thank you very much Ian Edwards.
The actual lesson learned is, guilty or not or unsure... Do NOT talk to police. Just don't. Don't.
