I wish this whole video was still available. At least we have this excerpt. Also, the song I wrote and sang for Wangari at the beginning of this event is online here: ua-cam.com/video/7VTbkivLR0w/v-deo.html
Nice speech but I do not fully agree with her. Most of the conflicts have their origin in religion, politics or ethnicity rather than just resources as suggested. And an argument is that most of the conflicts are in relatively poor countries rather than in rich ones like the US or Europe (where it also exists poverty). Same with the last century two main global wars ... were not related to resources.
I had to read a book about her in one of my college classes, that's where I learned what a wonderful, wonderful woman she really is.
Madame Professor, you are a PHENOMENAL woman. You do us proud as a Kenyan woman.
Wangari Maathai is definitely a hero of mine. Taking Root was incredible!
Thank you Wangari Maathai for speaking out for what is just and what is necessary to pay attention to.
I wonder why someone chose to dislike her speech.
Angry people out there who don't know how to channel that anger constructively.
She is MY modern hero.
THIS IS AWSOME
If every one of us was like that, the world would be a better place to live
