Sgot and sgpt are also called serum aminotrasferase and these are the most sensitive markers to indicate liver cell injury. sgpt is found in highest concentration in liver so more specific marker of liver injury then sgot. Normal value of sgot and sgpt is less than 40 IU/L. 3 most common condition of very severe elevation of sgot and sgpt levels are viral hepatitis which occurs commonly due to hepatitis A & E , Ischemic liver injury which occurs due to prolonged hypotension & heart failure. Due to hypovolemia and prolonged hypotension sgot and sgpt increase in dengue , and 3rd is toxin and drug induced liver injury in which alcohol , anti tb medicine , antiepileptic medicine and antibiotic. Mild elevation in sgot and sgpt occurs in fatty liver disease , chronic hepatitis b and c, autoimmune hepatitis and due to drugs and toxins. Ratio of sgot/sgpt if greater than 2 suggest alcohol associated liver injury and sgot/sgpt ratio greater than 3 is highly suggestive of alcohol associated liver injury. sgot and sgpt levels do not change during pregnancy and if slight increase occurs that is below the upper normal limit. Sir mera sgpt 1st time 76 tha or sgot 64 then 1 mhine bad colonoscopy kiya dr ne uske phichle din peglec powder piya tha intestine saff karne keliye usdin blood test kiya to sgpt 149 tha uske bad maine ultrasonography kiya hai W/A ka lekin report is normal no any issue show in ultrasound abb me kya karu sir😢

Sgot 42.43 UL Sgpt 12.61 UL. Total protin 5.96 G/DL. Albumin 3.18G/DL globulin 2.73 G/DL Ag ratio 1.14 At Age 72 in Female. Sir report normal range hai Reply please
