watch his onboard at the start. Weaved before the first corner to get extra grip, took inside line. Then "as per" Stroll tried to drive into the side of him, so he had to get off track to dodge. Then "as per" Stroll took out Albon forcing Zhou again to go off track to dodge the incident then dodge Albon outside of the white lines. Then "as per" Stroll rejoins like he always does almost again driving into the side with Zhou holding the outside line to stay clear. If you can survive Stroll lap 1 and finish P7 you're the GOAT.
Petition to create a rating system for the FIA stewards for that weekend, based on how badly they performed. For this weekend I'd give them 1 Lance Stroll out of 10 Nikita Mazepins
Very rarely do they both agree that an incident with Lance was primarily just a “racing incident” rather than Lance being dumb so despite his usual qualifying issues plenty of drivers had more “avoidable” moments this race, (Lewis, Lando, Hulkenberg, etc).
Man I love this series. It's such a simple format and a nice way to discuss each driver's race. And reading how upset people get from you guys having some fun with an arbitrary number is great. Keep it up!
He’s been the best “team driver” over the season. Dudes willing to risk his life, his car and license to make sure the team scores. Dangerous at times but I respect the hell out of the mindset.
I think you're right about the Williams cars basically being papier mache. There's an interesting video on their YT channel where the mechanics are going through all the crash damaged parts and just trying to find any little piece to re-use! I imagine that all the teams do similar, but perhaps Williams' tolerance of parts acceptable to re-use is a bit lower!
@@mitchhifi9192 Albon is crashing pressured by Colapinto... Do you realize how much he would have to push to be even close to Sainz? He's crashing that car 😂
U know what, there's an EMU in China, the type CR200J, we called it "dust bin" as well, cause it can only run 160kph and the price of tickets is same with the model which could run 300kph. And its livery is similar to the Sauber C44 one😂😂.
You forgot that Russell also had a 7s pit stop which is why he got stuck behind Alonso in the first place, but yeah the merc pace disappeared on Sunday
@@daarom3472 For doing what any serious elite drivers does to gain as much of an advantage as possible (including Max). Get real. 🤣. Michael Schumacher for instance was unbelievably ruthless on track and seemed to believe he was never wrong. That mindset can win championships.
Merc were shit as usual yes but Russell got cooked by Max at the start, destroyed his tires and couldn’t past a green wheelbarrow lol Still did way better than Hamilton who’s getting trounced
I think people do owe Zhou an apology to Zhou for slandering him. Zhou had been driving with retired parts from Bottas until Vegas. Apparently he was sacrificed by Seidl. As soon as he got equal machinery, we saw what Zhou could do in Vegas and in Qatar. He was the victim of Sauber-Audi's internal mess. I hope he can do well in the last race and will have the opportunity to return to the grid.

@@mysterionslyther5762 I’m politely surprised by some of their averages tbh. I would’ve thought Max would’ve averaged a 9/10. And George should’ve averaged an 8/10 for his season so far. Ahead of Lando but close enough to Charles.
@@gameofender4463 I think it's most likely due to car differences. Norris is expected to win so 8 is low for him but russel didn't have great car so 8 at every GP is good enough for him. All this results are more vibes than proper scientific method which somehow fits this ranking
Like the fans did, I'd also put Norris higher, he was staggering in the sprint, slowing up to keep Piastri in DRS - and also repaying the P1 back. Main race: he was on Verstappen most of the race and while he made a mistake with the yellow flags, he didn't whine about it or be despondent when coming out of the pit being 17s behind Lawson, the back marker (prior to pit he was 16s in front of LAW) but drove like a rocket, with 1m22 laps while everyone else were doing 1m26 laps, and got to P10 in 8 laps, getting fastest laps (several times). MAG was just too far to get to P9. At the end he was 27s in front of LAW, in 4 laps had put 13s in front of the car behind (BOT), and he might have got to P9 passing MAG with another lap or two. If you can watch his onboard lap 46 to the end, you FEEL the speed, every corner was perfect, every lap was Quali speed. When there were cars in the distance, he was so fast quick he caught up with them in a few turns.
I finally figured it out! Red Bull made the decision to not win the Constructor' s Championship in order to maintain development time advantage, this means they can develop a winning car for Max, secure the Driver's Championship which is the more popular one, and compensate the financial loss by the sponsorships that Perez brings. Genius!!!!
@@soundscape26 that is not my point, I do not think they are sabotaging Perez, I think they are happy to keep him despite of his bad performance as this fits their agenda.
Looking at telemetry max only lifted for 0.9 seconds. The time made made up by Lando was 0.5 seconds, you cannot notice that small of a change aswell if you are heading into a breaking zone. Max knew that the flag was really late and was lucky to catch it, and guessed right that Lando hadn’t caught it. The proportionality of the penalty was the issue
@@architectred7217Of course you can notice 0.5s on a single straight. Especially if you've been managing a 1.8 to 2 second delta for the past few laps.
tbf he finished 3rd in formula B behind Alonso and Gasly. That's usually P11. If not for major penalties for Lewis and Lando and Perez crashing out that would be his position. Still a great achievement, but we should not be blinded by it.
Can you do more statistics in this year's season summary? Average but also consistency w. Standard deviation. Graph for each driver how they scored in every race to see trends? Would be great and give you more content.
Dropping Ocon for the last race when he came 2nd a few weeks ago just cause he had a couple bad races in between is pure insanity. They're way more likely to beat Haas with Ocon than with Doohan and I feel like that should be obvious.
It was not because of his recent poor performances. Also remember he's joining Haas next season and Alpine is fighting Haas in the standings, so to avoid confusing situations that's for the better.
Glad you guys got the info about Perez. I was afraid that info didn't got to you guys because it wasn't really widespread. But beside his error. Giving him an 8 or 9 if it wasn't his mistake is still insane and only because "he didn't f*cked it up this time". That's shouldn't be more than a 6.
A month ago he was the new Senna, now they say he is quite forgotten by the teams for next year. I hope we can see more of Colapinto and him more settled in the following seasons. Vamos!!
people who said that had no idea what they were talking about. The new Senna would immediately destroy Albon. Colapinto is a future Kmag if he develops himself well.
Clearly he's neither the next Senna nor the next Sargeant... people always hype rookies after just a couple of decent performances and then of course the expectations are way too high to be maintained. Even Lawson was this and that and all of a sudden his stock started falling too.
This is so bizarre. I'm as much surprised he was elevated to the new Jesus just on a few good results, as that he is thrown in the abyss after a few bad results. Why can't people not wait for say 20 races or so and wait for their judgement after that.
an 8 for Norris by the fans is insane, what are they smoking? People have said that the penalty was harsh but it simply isn't, not slowing down for yellow flags has always been quite a big penalty and for good reason. Drivers who ruined their own races through mistakes have gotten harsher grades in the past, I thought the two of you were even somewhat generous.
Overall weekend was still good and pace was really quick, yeah 8 may be high but I can see where they are coming from + last few laps of main race he was flying so it really was a shame for the penalty
Piastri should have finished P2 in the main race, McLaren bought him in before the safety car and he was well clear of Charles before the stop. McLaren are taking a run at Ferrari bungling race/pit strategy 🤦♂️
If I remember correctly is that Leclerc did not beat Piastri on the road. Piastri was called in for a pit stop just before the safety car, and Leclerc pitstop was during the safety car. He passed Piastri with pitstops.
“We don’t see this from Hamilton” Really? It’s been constant since Mercedes dropped off. Can you not remember “I’d save this engine if I were you”? It was the same the last time he didn’t have the best car on the grid when he played bumper cars with massa for a season
Think we need to throw in a new rating for the season next year. To the FIA. except it needs to go from 0 to negative 10. cuz 10/10 would not be possible with them
People seem to be really deaf to Hamilton this season. He's been absolutely terrible in SO many races compared to Russell. At least Russell has managed to keep the car in the spot where it probably should be, but Hamilton just completely fucks it up and becomes a crybaby and giving all the stupid excuses.
@@pepperonish he's obviously not just talking ahoit this race, how do i know that? I can read, also it's still on him not becoming a crybaby and wanting to end the race, he's a 7x wdc he should know better
Funny how crybaby Georgie proceeds to lambast Max and get his karma and comeuppance by having a Lando-style start and a totally non-descriptive race. Russell did terrible.
Hulk was on cold tyres on lap 1, it was a classic lap 1 incident. You also missed Albon terrorizing KMag. Collided with him, ran him into the gravel and then again moved towards him when KMag finally did pass him. I wouldn't be surprised if that killed KMag's tyres and kept him from getting closer to Zhou.
Zhou is clearly a 10/10 but to me I would rate him higher. Honestly I would love him to be with Ferrari as a reserve and I can see it visible in my eyes too.
Pretty harsh on Liam who has had 2 more race starts than Colapinto and has been similar with Yuki who has had four seasons in the sport. Also, if you compare each of their first 10 F1 starts, Liam blows Yuki out of the water considering how much better the 2021 RB was compared to the 2023/24 RB Number of points scored while Yuki and Lawson have competed as teammates: • Yuki- 8 points • Liam- 6 points Number of F1 race starts: • Yuki- 86 • Liam- 10 Points scored in Yuki’s first 10 F1 race starts compared to his teammate at the time: • Yuki- 10 points • Gasly- 39 points (73 race starts)
@@generalbenI guess? I really like this channel and always enjoy hearing Matt and Tommy’s takes but they are obsessed with Yuki. Yuki has turned into a decent driver but he’s also pretty lucky Red Bull didn’t drop him after his extremely poor first season.
to be fair when comparing gasly v yuki that 2021 car was a rocket giving way to bigger points differentials. although they’ve definitely been too harsh on liam, like he’s still a rookie. i’m not sure where the bias is coming from and it’s getting annoying at this point. if viewed from the context of “will he beat yuki?” , yes he’s been underwhelming, but that’s the expectation coming from a fresh driver. points comparisons don’t really mean much when yuki generally qualifies well and has much better race pace. curious to see how much liam improved these coming seasons.
@@jamesvoneschen6603 that’s exactly why I brought up Yuki’s first 10 f1 races and compared them to Gasly. Like you said, the 2021 car was incredible and yet Yuki only scored a few more points than Liam has in Liam’s first 10 races. Liam’s points total has also been almost the same as Yuki’s in the ten races they’ve been teammates whereas Gasly wiped the floor with Yuki
@@jamesvoneschen6603 This is a great point. Why is anyone shocked that the Rookie is being narrowly beat by a driver with 4 seasons (4 seasons in that specific car too). Colapinto is not getting the same treatment, even if he is a little better than Lawson he's still in the same spot.
Questions: Norris deserved his penalty, them's the rules. But... -Were the stewards doing their job? I can't help feeling no penalty would have been issued if RB hadn't brought it to their attention. -Were the stewards doing their job? I find it hard to believe Lando was the only driver ignoring the yellows, so why no other penalties? -If the FIA is taking speeding through double-waved yellows 'seriously', how is it remotely reasonable that a quick lift is sufficient?
With Ocon from my understanding it's less of an issue of the team and more an issue of sponsors and obligations that come with them. By ending his contract early that also releases him from all his sponsorship and other post-season obligations, while if he saw the season out with Alpine that would not be the case. He'd still have to participate in post-season events for Alpine and I remember reading that *if* he was allowed to test for Haas he would have to wear a blank white racing suit to avoid breaching sponsor contracts. By releasing him early like this however he's freed from all of those obligations and can also integrate himself with Haas during the Abu Dhabi race weekend already. It's still not ideal obviously and most likely favors Alpine a hell of a lot more than it does Esteban, but there's at least more to it than is first apparent.
Petition to create a rating system for the FIA stewards that weekend based on how poorly they performed. For this weekend, I would give them one Lance Stroll out of ten. Nikita Mazepins
Bottas should get the second Red Bull seat.. I think he showed with Merc that he is a great teammate and he often finished right behind Lewis.. Or even ahead.. Perez is cooked and Lawson is not the answer. They don't seem to want Yuki so give Valtteri a drive!!!
True, would rather have Bottas in the seat cause bro can prove he can get the job done in a 2nd seat to help the world champion since they don’t want to give Yuki the seat. Cause Liam is doing horrible now
Yea, i suppose they could add it to the end of driver ratings, but i do like it as a stand alone video. I think its nice to see fans getting the spotlight for a moment if they come up with a good meme
Checo has become the antithesis of Max Verstappen, driver-wise. I've never cared for him as a driver and after this performance my disdain for him is complete. His only use was getting useful data in the sprint for the RBR's which ultimately led to the major changes which allowed Max to have performance he needed and delivered on rather than trundling around as he did in the Sprint.
How does Colapinto get a 4 for P20 in SQ, P18 in the SR, P20 in Q, and P20 crashing out Turn 1 of the GP. But Liam Lawson gets a 3 for doing way better, make it make sense Tommy and Matty.

As a Norris fan, I’d say 6 is reasonable for him. Personally I’d go with a 7 because I don’t think you really factored in his great comeback to at least reach the points, but I would be closer to Matt’s 6 than the fans’ 8 Also with Sainz, I’d bet good money he had badly damaged the floor, which would’ve been hampering his drag and his cornering ability, which might explain why he was stuck
@@ex_atomic Yes. Norris threw it himself. 5 or 6 would be a more appropriate rating. Getting back into the points is only doing the minimum of what can be expected with such a McLaren. So more a 5 than a six. Clear underperformance.
How about finishing 3rd in the same fastest car? With getting into the podium position only when your teammate has been penalized and dropped to the back of the grid? How is that better?
Bit of European bias boys? 8 for Piastri, Russell and Sainz. Piastri started behind Russell in both races and beat him in both. Great overtake in sprint around the outside from behind. Chased in him down in the main race and forced him to pit early. You criticised him for not overtaking Russell then acknowledged how hard is to overtake when discussing Russell and Alonso. You talk about him finishing behind LeClerc when the only reason for that was poor timing on the pit stop, after pulling a great move on him from the restart. Not sure what Sainz did to deserve 8, he was quiet.
Sainz had bad luck with the puncture. Wouldn't have given him an 8, but he did do at least a solid 7 ... remember he drove a whole lap on three wheels. Good chance that did some extra damage, still he finished where he started. Russell certainly did not deserve an 8 either. Thing is Matt is a Ferrari fan. Bonus for Sainz. Russell holds the right passport. Bonus for Snitchie Boy.
@@FrancisFjordCupola They all snitch on each other... Lando snitched about Lewis pitlane speed, Max snitched about Lando not slowing down for the double yellows.
I'm so conflicted with how to rate Russell since he had such great qualifying on both Friday and Saturday but then did the usual thing of lacking race pace to fight against the better cars. He was able to keep up in the sprint but I'm pretty sure Lando had a lot left in the tank and could've been miles ahead if he wanted. In the race though, he lost out big going into turn 1 when he's usually really good in turn 1 battles. He didn't have the pace to keep up with Max and Lando, so they went for an undercut but got fucked over by a 7s stop. When they pit him again they put him in the hards when he wanted the mediums again, so he just didn't get the opportunity to try and fight for the podium. He was able to at least recover to 4th after having an abysmal time stuck behind Alonso. Russell's turn 1 mistake cost him a very unlikely but potential win, but Merc cost him the podium with the poor pitstop and hard tire. It's a performance on paper that should probably be a 4-5 but I want to give him a 7 maybe even a stretched 8 for just keeping his head down and making the best out of the shit hand he was dealt. I am biased however so who fucking knows anyway. I just wish Merc could get their shit back together and have consistently good pit stops again. They really need to be listening to George and following his instructions because he's been making some absolutely stellar calls even if he's not able to take advantage of them. He is going to be the number 1 next year and Merc needs to seriously start treating him as an experienced driver that knows what he's doing rather than a suggestion box that they get to pick and choose what suggestions they actually go along with. Edit: Apparently I was actually being pretty harsh. Guess the fan factor made me more critical this time along. My stretched 8 isn't a stretch at all and he does deserve it. I'm probably just a bit salty at Merc and I'm being a downer at the missed podium.
I can agree with an 8, though I would even argue for a 9. I believe if it weren't for the 7s pit he would have gone out ahead of 2 or 3 cars, which would allow him to battle for a podium. Aside from the poor start, I think he performed very well
Yeah, I take some comfort in how George kept Piastri behind him for so long despite an obvious straight line speed disadvantage against Piastri, even without DRS. He just hit those high speed corners so well, he managed to get a .7 or so lead before the straight every lap. Did well without real pace, and P4 was fair considering Piastri probably would have passed him at some point, probably on a later pit if not sooner. For me the real question is Allison going to figure out the car next year or not.
The funny thing is that it’s mostly because of the car that hamilton is what he is today. This is the same guy that got beaten by rosberg and button. Don’t get me wrong, hamilton is a really good driver. But he isn’t better than schumacker or even max in my opinion
@@antiwokehuman Thats what happens when youre paired with world champion level teammates. Schumacher and Verstappen (except Ricciardo) never had any good teammates. It’s unfair to say Lawson is underperforming when compared to Tsunoda. Tommy - "he has not performed as well as Yuki Tsunoda at all" Let’s examine the facts: In his current stint, Lawson has raced five times and scored points twice, finishing P9 both times. Here's the breakdown: GP finishes: Lawson 2 vs Tsunoda 3. Lawson (P9, P16, P9, P16, P14) vs Tsunoda (P14, P20, P7, P9, P13). Sprint results: Lawson 2 vs Tsunoda 1. Lawson (P16, P9, P16) vs Tsunoda (P11, P15, P17). In qualifying, Tsunoda has outqualified Lawson in each GP session, but it hasn’t been a landslide. Consider the context: Austin: Lawson set the faster time but was tasked with helping Tsunoda due to a massive grid penalty he inherited. Even with Lawson’s tow in Q2, Tsunoda couldn’t post a better time. Lawson's time in Q1 was good enough for P9 had he been able to participate in the other sessions. Mexico: Tsunoda qualified 11th and Lawson 12th, separated by just over a tenth. However, Tsunoda’s crash in Q2 denied Lawson, who was on a strong lap, the chance to progress further. Brazil: Both excelled in wet conditions, with Tsunoda qualifying P3 and Lawson P5. Las Vegas: Lawson struggled in the cold, dirty conditions-unique on the calendar-while Tsunoda’s experience paid off. Lawson qualifying P16; Tsunoda, P7. Qatar: Both cars lacked pace the whole weekend. Lawson missed Q2 by less than a tenth, with Tsunoda advancing but only to P14. Lawson qualified P17. Sprint qualifying tells a different story though: Lawson 2 vs Tsunoda 1. Lawson (P15, P8, P10) vs Tsunoda (P9, P18, P17). - Lawson somehow got the slowest car on the Grid in Qatar to P10 in the sprint qualifying. This is Tsunoda’s fourth year in F1. Is this his ceiling? Meanwhile, Lawson is just starting out and will only improve with experience. I wouldn't say Yuki Tsunoda has performed much better given his experience, take out Las Vegas and I give it to Liam.

But only one driver I named is likely to have accepted he was there as a number 2 and nothing more.
Sorry, but considering Lando would've easily won the sprint and could've won the race (if not for an incompetent FIA) a 5 and 6 out of 10 is insane. The fans got it right and you got this wrong. Plain and simple.
What’s wild is that lando probably just looked at his wheel or to the pit building or something for one second and because it was only in a small section on the straight he missed the flags.

Matt asks when was the last time we heard of an engine over delivering? I think the bigger question we need to be asking regarding Perez, is when was the last time we ever heard Perez admit to a mistake instead of blaming the car, the track, the weather, or another driver. He always blames something else. In Monaco, he wouldn't take responsibility, in Baku, he refused to take responsibility, even Monaco last year, he blamed the car. His personal lack of accountability could honestly be a huge weakness for him, probably believing himself that he is never at fault, meaning he will never be able to learn from his mistakes like drivers who do put their hand up.
I cannot rap my head around these takes on Lawson performance's (ESPECIALLY the takes on his Qatar performance ) is due to a bias towards Yuki or a dislike towards Liam? For the Qatar Grand prix: - Lawson beat Yuki in both Sprint quali and Sprint race (Getting what is believed to be the slowest car for that GP into SQ3 ) - Yuki then beat Lawson in Qualifying but they were only separated by less than HALF A TENTH in q1 - And for the race Yuki finished the race 3nd to last in front of Lawson with Lawson only being 1.9 seconds behind him. Obviously context matters when it comes to the race for example safety cars reducing the gap between drivers and getting involved in incidents HOWEVER: - Yuki after the first safety car was running in P9 and dropped from p9 to p13 of of pure pace - After the spin near Bottas (which was a mistake from Lawson side) he was able to lap faster and stay within less than 4 seconds of Yuki before the next safety car - Lawson then gained a 10 second penalty for a "Collision" which im fairly certain was a incident that had 0 CONTACT - And keep in mind Lawson had confirmed DAMAGE for this race which you can find the radio at the end of the race and was still able to stay on pace if not lap faster at certain points compared to Yuki - And finally the most important thing to take into consideration is that Lawson has competed in around 1/4 of a SEASON whereas yuki has been in this sport for 4 SEASONS To say that Liam Lawson has been the most disappointing driver when you have a driver like Yuki who has been on similar pace if not even worse than Lawson (in certain GP's ) in equal machinery while boasting more than 4x the experience is WILD Definitely when you have another driver on the grid Franco Colapinto who was hyped up at one point to be worthy of driving a REDBULL next to Max next year yet has been binning the car just as much if not more than SARGENT. (there is a reason why Redbull have recently announced there sudden lack of interest in franco)
It was a collision with Bottas, they have the data, they saw the data. Lawson a bit too proud to apologise in the media after race like he did. He knows it happened. And its okay, things like this happen. Nothing wrong with that.

The penalty was 100% fair imo and could have been avoided if he didn't understeer. Hulk was on cold hard tyres so you have less grip and it was a bit off an unfortunate incident so I understand why that was seen as a racing incident
“When have we heard of an engine overdelivering to a driver” Didn’t Gasly last week blow his engine by going too fast for the gearing(thanks to slipstream and DRS)?
In the early 80's the Brabham was rumoured to have 1200bhp in qualy, and apparently the cars would spin the wheels even in top gear on the straights if the track undulated a bit.
I think Colapinto is out of the RB contention because Hadjar has a huge chance of winning F2. I don't think the Redbull academy wants to leave an F2 champion on the side
It shows Zhou's real potential. His car is the worst car among the 20 this season even compared to Botas who has the priority to upgrade. I hope he can come back soon...
I think dropping Ocon early ‘for Haas’ is a disguise, for a mini audition for Dohan, to see how he does. As we’ve seen rumours Alpine/Flavio is interested in Colapinto.. silly season begins.
Honestly not sure I understand your McLaren ratings anymore... giving Lando a mid score is fine for his mistake, but then giving your reasoning as should've/could've won the race with the car he had. Meanwhile Oscar gets an 8 for lacking pace in that car, never mind he was only on the podium because of the harsh Norris penalty. I think if Norris had gotten a normal 5s or 10s pen Oscar would not be on the podium.
Honestly there is no race this season where Piastri has made that McLaren look like a 'rocketship' as people consider it, it's always Lando showing the better performance. How did Oscar not make the overtake for 2nd?? He was never going to finish on the podium if Lando never got that penalty. I love Osc but I'm starting to get worried that he may never match Norris pace, how does he explain not having a single GP pole in that McLaren 'rocketship' and barely fighting for GP wins??
As much as I do not appreciate the attitude Alpine is showing Ocon, he did fail to help the team several times this year and even risked their own work. Don't know why people aren't talking about this.
George's 7 second pit stop put him behind 2-3 cars on a track you guys have repeatedly said is hard to overtake. The podium was off then. Also the Merc was garbage on Sunday vs Saturday. No idea what they did Saturday to Sunday. The mediums held up behind Piastri for over 20 laps on Saturday. George's only mistakes were his bad start on Sunday and his prep lap for the main qualifying.
Break the system and give Zhoumacher the P1 championship by giving him a 100/10. Least he deserves. The peoples champion

I think people do owe Zhou an apology to Zhou for slandering him. Zhou had been driving with retired parts from Bottas until Vegas. Apparently he was sacrificed by Seidl.
Sainz had some damage after that puncture, that's why Sainz couldn't get past Gasly easily

Unbelievable that the fans gave Lando an 8. 3-5 range would be better

Dropping Ocon for the last race when he came 2nd a few weeks ago just cause he had a couple bad races in between is pure insanity. They're way more likely to beat Haas with Ocon than with Doohan and I feel like that should be obvious.
He hasn't been dropped. He left so that he could test the Haas instead. Fair enough.
Ocon might want haas to finish 6th to have a bigger budget next year and maybe sabotage or underdeliver ....
Alonso was allowed to stay in alpine and test for aston in 2022@@ab8jeh
He leaves now so he can do testing for haas next week. It makes sense so he can get a headstart to next year
It was not because of his recent poor performances.
Love this series. Nice way to recap all the drivers and highlight different aspects of the race.
1.2 seconds is not well clear, but the rest is correct
If I remember correctly is that Leclerc did not beat Piastri on the road. Piastri was called in for a pit stop just before the safety car, and Leclerc pitstop was during the safety car. He passed Piastri with pitstops.
He did beat Piastri on the road. Piastri couldn't overtake him after the last safety car restart. F1 acc even posted the vid of their battle.

Not beating on the road is getting ahead by a penalty. Leclerc finished ahead of Piastri on track

Pretty harsh on Liam who has had 2 more race starts than Colapinto and has been similar with Yuki who has had four seasons in the sport. Also, if you compare each of their first 10 F1 starts, Liam blows Yuki out of the water considering how much better the 2021 RB was compared to the 2023/24 RB

to be fair when comparing gasly v yuki that 2021 car was a rocket giving way to bigger points differentials. although they’ve definitely been too harsh on liam, like he’s still a rookie. i’m not sure where the bias is coming from and it’s getting annoying at this point. if viewed from the context of “will he beat yuki?” , yes he’s been underwhelming, but that’s the expectation coming from a fresh driver. points comparisons don’t really mean much when yuki generally qualifies well and has much better race pace. curious to see how much liam improved these coming seasons.
Sainz also admitted he speeded as well and he got nothing so make it make sense fia

Can we please stop blaming the mercedes for hamilton being slow. We had 10 years of it's not the car when he was winning. You can't have it both ways.

It’s unfair to say Lawson is underperforming when compared to Tsunoda.
Tommy - "he has not performed as well as Yuki Tsunoda at all"
Let’s examine the facts:
In his current stint, Lawson has raced five times and scored points twice, finishing P9 both times. Here's the breakdown:
GP finishes: Lawson 2 vs Tsunoda 3.
Lawson (P9, P16, P9, P16, P14) vs Tsunoda (P14, P20, P7, P9, P13).
Sprint results: Lawson 2 vs Tsunoda 1.
Lawson (P16, P9, P16) vs Tsunoda (P11, P15, P17).
In qualifying, Tsunoda has outqualified Lawson in each GP session, but it hasn’t been a landslide. Consider the context:
Austin: Lawson set the faster time but was tasked with helping Tsunoda due to a massive grid penalty he inherited.
Sprint qualifying tells a different story though:
Lawson 2 vs Tsunoda 1.
Yea I can see the narrative from the guys changing and possibly being biased against him based off things in the media
@@mynameis123456ish yes, if you just follow the click bait media it would be easy to have a low opinion of Lawson. It's all fake news. Thought these guys were above that, maybe not.
@@mynameis123456ish REAL
I think y’all are being extremely harsh on Liam who is still technically a rookie. You guys were gushing over him after Austin. Lawson has only taken part in 10 f1 races while Yuki is close to 90 starts. If you think yuki is good enough for the second Red Bull seat then what does that say about Liam who is relatively on par with Yuki after so few races?
@@Smithy2204 yea for sure remember them making a few comments about stuff outside of racing and since then have started writing him off. Even when colapinto can’t stop crashing they still rate him higher
been waiting for this all day long
I think Tommy isnt too fond of Liam Lawson 😂😂
Maybe Checo has pictures of Horner being the horn dog and is being blackmailed lol
They really watched the whole race of Zhou
If you remove the funniest tweets and keep this segment in, you'll have to rename yourselves to the "Pit lane start podcast"
Huh
That Tommy 1 liner b4 crowning Zhou was just 👌chefs kiss
After Matt said they'll be there for one final driver ratings at the end of the season i was ready to have him say that this series would also end like best tweets
EVEN BETTER INTRO BOYYY
I thought about the Alpine/Haas situation in the standings as well, Ocon would be basically racing against his future team in Abu Dhabi. Not ideal.
He is not competing.
It really is time you guys added ratings for FIA / race direction / stewards to thee vids to make them complete!
Wouldn't it make sense for red bull to put someone in the second seat that has a car preference like max? On the nose, so that development can go in the same direction for both drivers
Oscarrrr or Charlessss
This is F1. Just because something makes sense doesn't mean you should do it. They had a perfectly decent number 2 driver for Max who also happens to be highly marketable but they were to busy arguing over who is the real boss.
@JMRope who is this perfectly decent number 2 driver that you speak of?
@@AllKings you know exactly who I mean. But to make it simpler lets remove the highly marketable attribute and we can go with any driver in the Red Bull 'family'. Ricciardo, Tsunoda, Lawson, Hadjar, Iwasa, Lindblad... would all have been a step up. And outside of the Red Bull group even Logan Sargeant would probably have done a better job alongisde Max.
The rules are same for everyone - the penalty for missing double yellows has been the same over the years. The 10 sec stop & go from missing the double yellows is rooted from Jules Bianchi's fatal crash. No joke this one.
@@piuthemagicman of course the penalty fits the crime, but because of how poorly it was managed, it just feels ridiculous. No VSC? No yellow on the cars dash? late SC call? It feels as if the FIA wanted to create problems it was managed so poorly
@@Deadlyspark I agree on that. I refuse to believe it was intentional.
@@piuthemagicman never said it wasn’t, just that it was unfortunate. They shouldn’t of thrown the double yellow in the first place, as there was no real danger like a car or Marshall on the track
Ham "we keep pushing, we never give up". Once again asks to just park a car. Alonso "My back is broken, but ill finish it for the mechanics"

For the Qatar Grand prix:
- Lawson beat Yuki in both Sprint quali and Sprint race (Getting what is believed to be the slowest car for that GP into SQ3 )
- Yuki then beat Lawson in Qualifying but they were only separated by less than HALF A TENTH in q1
- And for the race Yuki finished the race 3nd to last in front of Lawson with Lawson only being 1.9 seconds behind him.
Obviously context matters when it comes to the race for example safety cars reducing the gap between drivers and getting involved in incidents HOWEVER:
- Yuki after the first safety car was running in P9 and dropped from p9 to p13 of of pure pace
- After the spin near Bottas (which was a mistake from Lawson side) he was able to lap faster and stay within less than 4 seconds of Yuki before the next safety car
- Lawson then gained a 10 second penalty for a "Collision" which im fairly certain was a incident that had 0 CONTACT
- And keep in mind Lawson had confirmed DAMAGE for this race which you can find the radio at the end of the race and was still able to stay on pace if not lap faster at certain points compared to Yuki
- And finally the most important thing to take into consideration is that Lawson has competed in around 1/4 of a SEASON whereas yuki has been in this sport for 4 SEASONS
To say that Liam Lawson has been the most disappointing driver when you have a driver like Yuki who has been on similar pace if not even worse than Lawson (in certain GP's ) in equal machinery while boasting more than 4x the experience is WILD
Definitely when you have another driver on the grid Franco Colapinto who was hyped up at one point to be worthy of driving a REDBULL next to Max next year yet has been binning the car just as much if not more than SARGENT.
@@arunps7719what do you mean? Lawson Apologized to Botas in Person after the race.
@@arunps7719 He apologized after the race to Botas in Person. I cant remember ever seeing another driver do that.
@@martinvandersandt4631*Bottas, Bottas did that to Lando and a few others live after Hungary 2021 crash lol
Lot of drivers do
@@arunps7719 i went back to watch both POV's of the onboard collision and honestly i still don't see them touch. however i did the the interview of Lawson apologising to Bottas to maybe it did happen.
Ocon was under contract until the end of the year. By mutually terminating the contract he is free to do what he wants.
The penalty was 100% fair imo and could have been avoided if he didn't understeer. Hulk was on cold hard tyres so you have less grip and it was a bit off an unfortunate incident so I understand why that was seen as a racing incident
“When have we heard of an engine overdelivering to a driver”
Didn’t Gasly last week blow his engine by going too fast for the gearing(thanks to slipstream and DRS)?
That was a case of a driver overdelivering to an engine.... subtle difference
Brother Perez was behind the safety car 😭
In the early 80's the Brabham was rumoured to have 1200bhp in qualy, and apparently the cars would spin the wheels even in top gear on the straights if the track undulated a bit.
37:22 Lance Stroll's community 0 being highlighted red feels like the P1 equivalent of "outstanding penalty" lmao
Should have given Zhou the podcast's first 11.
That was truly unhinged on the intro scale!
Remember AD'21, those were the days
Checo hasn't beaten his teammate on merit since Miami... 2023.
Zhou comes good, about 6 races too late to save his F1 career. Such a shame.
@@albrechtjohnj I remember in 2022 he was also quite good at the start but had terrible luck whenever the Sauber was any good
@@daarom3472 Maybe we will get a sense of whether his performance in Qatar was a one-off or a trend in 5 day's time. Can he beat Bottas again?
I think Colapinto is out of the RB contention because Hadjar has a huge chance of winning F2. I don't think the Redbull academy wants to leave an F2 champion on the side
If you’re looking to get rid of a segment, get rid of this one and NOT the funniest tweets one which is your best segment by far!
It shows Zhou's real potential. His car is the worst car among the 20 this season even compared to Botas who has the priority to upgrade. I hope he can come back soon...
the episodes addition for this videos is such a nice inclusion, I enjoy being able to skip to whatever driver I'm interested in
Hulkenberg had a miserable weekend post-sprint: P18 in Quali, crashed at turn 1, then spun out of the race by himself.
"Massive overdelivery from the enginer"
I wish Perez over delivered.
@@Zhuuri give hungary the benefit of the doubt othe then that horrible
As much as I do not appreciate the attitude Alpine is showing Ocon, he did fail to help the team several times this year and even risked their own work. Don't know why people aren't talking about this.
LMFAO THE INTRO 😂 100/10
George's 7 second pit stop put him behind 2-3 cars on a track you guys have repeatedly said is hard to overtake. The podium was off then. Also the Merc was garbage on Sunday vs Saturday. No idea what they did Saturday to Sunday. The mediums held up behind Piastri for over 20 laps on Saturday. George's only mistakes were his bad start on Sunday and his prep lap for the main qualifying.
Keep funniest tweets!!! Don't get rid of them!!
