HOT DAMN...a right out of the box factory hot rod. Great looking tractor...even better sounding. Nothing more beautiful sounding than a 2 stroke Detroit Diesel !!! That's not an opinion...that's a fact !!! Keep her screamin' !!!
Sounds and looks like someone actually knows how to tune a Detroit. She was running clear so the person who tuned her did it correctly and not just as fast as possible.
The chrome wheels...oh yeah! 😎 Now that’s a getter done type of rig. It’s called..Riggitude! 🤩 The paint color is different, but still looks pretty good. Love the rolling action!🥰 Hey, I could see that parked in my driveway sometime. Cabovers rule! 😎
tom cline 🇺🇸 I have never seen a tractor fire truck like that...a regular cabover semi that is not permanently attached to a trailer. I love a sweet looking cabover though!
8V92 Naturally Aspirated Detroit Diesel engine is my favorite engine to hear in a Semi truck I've wonder if Motor Coach Industries offer that engine in its buses too
I remember seeing an ad for the VanHool T815 when it was first introduced to the US Market. Had three motor offerings, the Cummins L10, Detroit 8V92N and an M.A.N. engine (don't know which one, but was told later it was a 10L unit)
Love the video, but how can you stand to drive that thing with straight pipes? When I got my '70 Transtar cabover w/8v71n, I took off the 3.5 in exhaust and put on 5in w/ 5in straight thru resonators. Could only stand that for 2 weeks, then put mufflers on it.
there used to be rules about tractor length but the government 'deregulated' them in the late 70s, early 80s. Freightliner had put all their engineering into maximally accommodating the niche in those regulations and were the most efficient COE truck. but when the regulation was lifted,. nobody had to buy shorter length COE any more and all of freightliners invstment in that design lost market share. the company went under and was bought by german Daimler benz. its ironic that deregulation caused america to lose ownership of one of its best companies
Charles Pyatt 5” pipes without mufflers on the naturally aspirated Detroits are all about the same. Turbo 92 series without no mufflers.... that sound can’t be beat. Loud but not too much. 👍
What I would like to see is a MACK f-700 with ether a MACK v- 12 or av-8 with a MACK quadraplex and MACK worm-drive rearends. Now, that's a truck. I'd love to have a ole' MACK like that with a v- 12 under the cab!!😎 ( Mack quadraplex transmissions were a twin stick 20 speeds gear boxes.) ( Mack worm-drive rearends were a type of a differental that had specific type of gear arrangement, that the driven gear was a worm type and the other gear was specifically cut to the worm gear.)
And about the time he's gotten just a bit older and get's the muffler's installed it will still sound great ..If he can still hear anything is another question . because driving it around town once and parking it is a whole lot different then working it everyday all day long ..
I Quan Dog Tea Toll’n Tell’n You, that you Would Not want to go across ANY Colorado Scales with this truck❕ Even though its a cool look'n "Oldie But Goodie"
Yeah you could. Plenty of us run straight pipes across CO, I hit Limon port of entry twice a month, it's CO REGULATIONS, no UNMUFFLED JAKE BRAKES, read the signs. Have common sense, don't come roaring in to a coop with pipes screaming and they don't mess with you.
rule number one with a Detroit floor it! rule number with a Detroit drive it like you hate it! rule number 3 with a Detroit if you are not sure how to run a Detroit ,refer back to rules number one and two its that simple and a Detroit will love you for it and will last a life time NEVER LUG A DETROIT.
I love Detroit Diesels myself but I don't like that real tinny straight pipe sound. For another site google this ''International 40708V92N with Allison'' in the Netherlands of all places.
@@guywonch6591 your lack of intelligence is obvious fuck tard I owned one in the early 70s over 42 years and at least 6 million miles over the road not on a video game you fuck tard as you your child language says
Great sounding truck! Both the driver and the mechanic for this truck are top notch! AWESOME!!!
That is the best sounding Detroit engine with straight pipes I've heard.
I always liked the sound of the Silver Series 8V92T’s.
Nothing brings a smile to my face like an old jimmy can!!!
Damn that 92 series sounds awesome!!
This video is on my music playlist 😁
Best sounding diesel in the world....Screaming Detroit's rule!!!
i miss these rigs and engines!
Nice looking rig, they should name the truck Optimus Lime

That Jake Brake went off at 0:32 and Chewbacca looked around the corner like "who dat?".
I thought that was funny!
Sounds and looks like someone actually knows how to tune a Detroit. She was running clear so the person who tuned her did it correctly and not just as fast as possible.
Grew up in one just like this in 80's nice
Very nice truck!! And a beautifull sound!!
That's the diesel version of the sound of bald eagles!
Good grief I remember those days. Shifted a gear every time my heart beat. Whew wee mercy.
2 stroke engines sound so awesome 👍🏻
a white frightliner overcab with a Detroit always sounds beautiful.
So THAT'S what those were. I used to hear them when I was a kid all the time.

That's get the fuck outta the way yellow! Was very trendy on fire trucks in the 70's and 80's.
tom cline 🇺🇸 I have never seen a tractor fire truck like that...a regular cabover semi that is not permanently attached to a trailer. I love a sweet looking cabover though!
I actually saw this truck at the ATHS Truck Show in Gonzalez TX last year, she's got alot to say!
I owned one of these. Mine looked a lot rougher but at least it had mufflers.

I know buses had these not sure that motor coach did

you can not ever beat a cab over!!!! let alone a Detroit in it

Optimus Prime when he worked a stint for Mountain Dew.

Only ever drove it twice. Just sits in the shop. LOL.
I can still hear that GODDAMMED truck in my sleep, but I wish I still had it!
@@jeremyclevenger3972 hahaha, I love it, Cussed out bad.
Yup, yup, yup.
That's one badass fire truck
🚛👍 I don't see many cabover semi trucks out on the roads anymore like I used to back in the day.

Looks and sounds good 👌
You can here the transmission clicking as it's driving.
These trucks look so intimidating!
Ant nothing like the sound of a Detroit jack brake and straights
Super sound👍👌🚛
Sweet frieght shacker that thing is bad ass
Music to my ears!!
what a beauty
She sounds as awsomes as she looks 👍
That sound f#+"&$g amazing!!!
Love that Detroit sound but that's just too much. Maybe the size of the pipes? Bigger might sound deeper not so raspy?
Charles Pyatt 5” pipes without mufflers on the naturally aspirated Detroits are all about the same. Turbo 92 series without no mufflers.... that sound can’t be beat. Loud but not too much. 👍
Nothing like the sound of an old Detroit 2 stroke. 😍👌

✨💓👌👍😎, however, I do agree that the exhaust would get old pretty quick and your hearing gone.😳
I'm surprised that he haven't burned out an exhaust valve
@@ericmartin894 Why? Because he used the Jake brake? lmfao
Love the paint job

perfect truck.

That's almost Euclid/Terex green. Just need Pioneer Pete logo on the side . Pretty cool. Pretty loud but that's how they're supposed to be
Nope, that's "MOVE YER ASS" yellow. Was a popular fad for fire trucks in the late 70's to mid 80's.

Nice hot rod.
Love it.
Can u find parts for this trucks this days?
Love the sound of a 2 stroke detroit but could be louder!!!!
I think a two-stroke should have a couple of baffles in the straight pipes. It's a little too raspy.
What did you do, put race mufflers on it?! Sounds like a freaking racecar!
That’s just how a 2 stroke sounds!
@@ThrashMetal_12v71 I didnt know that a year ago lol

That truck needs spoiler over the 5th wheel. Something dirt track /Countach-esque
Think I'll buy me one.
NICE!
You never had a problem with cars infront of you going down mountain if you had a Detroit they referred to it as excaping in PA in the early 80s

Good way to blowout your speakers.
Needs a fifth wheel and a bull wagon...
Lights on for safety driver
Subaru WRX owners are just mad their cars will never sound like a Detroit
