- One of the greatest blessings of being a follower of Jesus is becoming a part of the Body of Christ. The picture of the body of Christ is dynamic, as believers are continually added. As Paul moves from the doctrinal depths of the first eleven chapters, he uses the concept of the church as the body of Christ to help us see where we fit and how God will use each one of us to accomplish His mission. Every believer has a vital role in making the body whole and being part of Christ’s body provides the added benefit that we are never alone.
The concept of the body of Christ has been at the center of how we do church. The place and ministry of every believer is one of our core concepts. This eliminates the artificial distinction between clergy and laity. We believe in the ministry of every believer and do our best to help each discover his or her best fit.
This weekend we will refresh our understanding of the body analogy as we examine how Paul presents this to a church he had never visited. He knew the Church, living in the world as the Body of Christ, is God’s redemptive tool and what worked in Corinth or Ephesus would also work in Rome. Knowing that’s also the plan for Sauk Rapids, it’s up to each of us to consider how God wants to use us in order to fulfill the special purpose God has designed. The fact is: We need each other…and we are better together!
