Starset is a genuinely underrated yet insanely good band. been listening to them for roughly 3 years.
Triston I’ve been to about 11 concerts and rock on the Range this year. The Starset concert has been one of my favorite shows this year.
I'm glad you enjoyed them live. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. I saw them when they opened for Shinedown a couple of months ago and they were... not great. And I was disappointed because I really enjoy their music.
Well talent wise they are lacking. But I do enjoy listening to them.
As a writer, I often look to music for inspirations, often seeing scenes or characters in songs. This one I often see characters struggling with dark pasts or with mental illness in a potential relationship, and this song seems as though they're asking, if not begging, for their significant others to help save them. It could, for someone a bit more religious-minded, be an analogy for a prayer as well. Someone with a dark past or mental illness, praying for salvation. Can work on several levels.
u are right a few parts about epilepsy and a relationship with a woman
This song holds a personal meaning for me.
I have struggled with a learning disability, specifically autism, and a few periods of depression and self-hatred and that's what this song feels like to me.
I interpret it to be about a person who knows they are unwell and in an unhealthy place but have no clue how to recover and are begging the people close to them to help them through this and save them if they are consumed by the sickness spreading within.
I was in my car when starset did a live interview with Sirius radio and the Dj asked them point blank if they were a Christian band, she said it jokingly almost expecting them to deny this, they got real serious and openly admitted to being Christian and refused to deny Christ. I never heard that interview replayed but it’s burned into my memory forever:)
Wait really? I have been wondering for a while if they are or not. But when Dustin Bates played in another band called Downplay. There newest album from 2013 said the f-word in it. Not saying people who swear are not Christian, just pointing that out.
Christians are so desperate to claim Starset as their own. When asked about his religion on Reddit, Dustin linked to a Carl Sagan video and said, "I believe in this," which makes much more sense considering how all of their songs are space themed. They promote the Starset Society, which focuses on science and technology. If the band is religious (and they often compare themselves to Red) they keep it to themselves and out of their music. Let it go.
@@elisellers6023 well some Christians do swear but that doesn't make them not Christian. The main thing is that you really have to believe that Jesus is their savior
umm is this real? bc i thought they were science related according to some people
@@notjunior5816 yeah, the band/starset society is promoting science and technology. no one knows Dustin's religion, but he could or could not believe in the science. no one knows.
To me this song refered to the demons that put depressing/suicidal thoughts into my head. And how I need a savior (Jesus) to help me.
All of starset songs are about technology and the good and bad
Sorry dude but Jesus isn't isn't going to help you because he's not real. I hope you get better soon though!
I'm not a religious person myself, but I agree with you, when I hear this song this is one of the first things I think of. The other one is someone special to me who has this unexplainable power over me to bring out the best in me towards them. They don't have to say or do anything. I'm just ultimately a better person for them.
@@birb7866 gtfo then if you dont believe i hope when you get depressed you have nothing to turn to because you wont believe in shit only that there is nothing but the earth nothing at all.
@@loavy4007 Well though I don't agree with you mustn't fight amongst each other. We are meamt to coexist.
React to dear agony and give me sign by breaking Benjamin
slash dirty diary of jane👌🏻
Those are awesome songs
Please do dear agony by breaking benjamin.
It's interesting to see a pastor's viewpoint on this. I love this band, only reason I found you guys lol.
I love the videos and reactions though keep up the great work! 😊
Oh yeah. Y'all definitely gotta react to Wishing Wells by Parkway Drive. It's such an intense song.
I love your take on things, I’m not an atheist I’m what you would call a Universalist because I take wisdom from all religions but I think following one strict dogma is dangerous because all dogmas are supposed to be the word of God but they were written by men and men are fallible and are known to put their own biases and prejudices into things like I don’t think God would damn a person just because who they are attracted to and fall in love with or if they choose to pierce or tattoo their body or the other many ridiculous things some religions damn a person for
All starset songs are telling a sci-fi story ( not sure if it was created by a band ) but if you schearch it on google you might find it, it's a cool story tbh
Default Camo I thought the story was created by Starset. And the band itself is “broadcasting” that story to everyone.
Sorry, that "a" was supposed to be a "the". But thanks for confirming it.
one of my favorite songs period
One of Red songs please ( gone, darkest part, take me over ,etc)
They are a Christian Rock band so not much to really react too.
@@TalamarAmV Red isnt anymore... they went mainstream when they released Of Beauty and Rage.
I'm afraid I have to disagree with your interpretation of the song there, Pastor. In this case, the artists references to 'my demons' bears direct correlation to the Human propensity to spiral downward and out of control regarding our own base desires. Human nature is wicked and flawed at its core and this song was an acknowledgement of those flaws and stating that there is a need for an external souce to be a savior from our own basal instincts and dark desires. I would say this is one of those songs which bears multiple levels of potential interpretation, but it can and I think should be taken at face value first and foremost. Best regards and please keep making these videos. I just discovered your channel today and I am greatly enjoying these videos and hearing your interpretations of them.
Im sure its a song about wanting God to save you because i heard it on a Christian station
This song help me a lot
Which station? That is actually interesting.
Awesome one
Avenged sevenfold- Chapter four
My take on this song is the struggle from fighting your inner most darkest thoughts and vices for so long that when someone helps you make it back to a human state a feeling of gratitude is engraved into your soul and that at your lowest points you can ask for help
Reacts to "What lies beneath" "Into The nothing" and "dear agony
Lowkey reminded me of Jesus Christ
Theyre talking about *demons* and needing a *savior* it talks about flying high and taking all the pain away which yes could be drugs, but the demon and savior thing just makes me think of Jesus at one point it also said "dont let me go" as if talking to an entity.
Would y'all consider reacting to Motionless in White - Immaculate Misconception? They're a phenomenal band that would definitely spice your line-up a bit. Thanks!
oh yes! i really like their new single "voices" so much...any of theirs really :)
I love this song and for me its more about insanity kind of thing
You guys should really check out Poets Of The Fall's song Cradled In Love. It is slower than most of the songs that you review but the melody and lyrical structure is amazing.
This song gives me a red vibe
Please react to fit for a king -"hollow king" or "cold room" they are an amazing christian metalcore band
Omg
Could pastor andy please react to nightmare by avenged sevenfold with lyrics, he might have some interesting things to say to it.
Look its says i need a savior take me high and I'll sing you take all my pain away no matter what you guys say I believe that's a clear indication and a reference to God I know you need these people does not like it but listen to the lyrics
Do some Stryper songs....and Skillet: Keeper of the Stars and Lions.

You should do Carnivore by Starset
Could you react to "Rivers of Jordan" by Lecrae? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the song!
I'll be honest I expected a different outlook on this song than the one you took. It was still interesting just different.

If i were by nothing more, this is another song
You should react to new millennium cyanide christ by messhuga
This song is not about drug use...
Can you do the Roblox one
As a pastor I'm rather surprised you didn't take the angle of thought of the faith based side of it as a person seeking/asking God for help to take the pain away and to make things okay. To save him if he gets lost and succumbed by the demons inside him or even demons we face in everyday life. Hoping to be saved if he loses or starts losing the fight and afraid of becoming HIS demons. Whether they are a Christian or secular band the great thing about music is it's based on personal interpretation and how one views things themselves. For me personally, that's the way I look at it and how I listen to this song in particular.... Thoughts???
Check out don't go by bring me the horizon
Tanner Nesbitt shodow moses too I don't understand that song the things that they refer to
Do some system of a down
Can you react to Red Feed the Machine
React to Starset Monster official video
Slipknot: snuff
Schism by Tool
React to demon hunter- my destiny and i am a stone
I think Blame it on the Holy Rollers would be great to dissect. It's a Christin band pretty much calling out the uptight judgmental hypocrisy in churches
This band help me through my depression I wanted to kill myself but I prayed and prayed I'm really happy now I have a gf I what to marry my gf and start a family
Im not the only one that thinks they just replaced them selfs with manikins during the video
The song's asking Jesus Christ for help.
It is so weird that the pastor did not link this song to God. I did. "Take me high and I'll sing how you make everything okay.... we are one and the same you take all of the pain away...". This doesn't seem to be about drugs. Maybe it's just me?
starset is fighting
Do to end the rapture by a7x
The lead singer is Christian actually
he doesn't seem by their theme
If you have time to talk on a more personal level, I can provide my e-mail. I would be interested in talking to you, Pastor or Big Kat.

You talked about tolerance and I hope you will always remain tolerant I'd like to point the example of Islam long ago it was the religion of one of the most powerful, mathematically versed, scientific and tolerant societies/empires. Then intolerance came along and the empire fell and Islam became what it is today I was raised in a Christian family in canada I don't believe in such thing any more but I strong advocate that anyone who does stays mindful and tolerant because religous text can be used to justify to many wrongs. But they can do good. Can is the big thing people have to promote tolerance over the intolerant teachings of religous text.
Sorry for the huge rant that is unrelated to the video per say but like I said I advocate for tolerance as much as possible.
