- #Mandera West Sub-County in North-Eastern #Kenya has been severely affected by recurring droughts, floods and other disasters. These adversely affected the #pastoralist communities' #FoodSecurity. ADRA Kenya with the generous support of #CFGB, ADRA Canada, invested 10 years of interventions that have transformed these communities.
All the smiles at the end was beautiful to see
At least until desertification is adequately reduced dryland, food-producing trees, shrubs, vines, and perennials should be the primary source agricultural focus, as these offer more drought resistance while providing marketable goods. Add earthworks that repair gullies and harvest rainwater. Make sure to use pressured rotational grazing of livestock and you've increased food resilency, reduced flooding and the need to irrigate, and increased food capacity.
This makes for stable governments, too.
How inspiring! This sent me into tears! Indeed, growing your own food is revolutionary!!
Thank you!
This is what consists of airing powerful new to change lives
I love what am seeing ❤️ thank you ADRA
This is great, however it is to no avail if we are not giving these people the true Living Water. Is ADRA a humanitarian organization only? Medical missionary work and the gospel should go hand in hand and should never be separated.
Did you not see the Mosque? These people have their own religion.
Please plant trees
Inspiring! Good job, ADRA Kenya! 👏

Like two years ago, I told my friends that very soon women will be leading in nfd, and they laughed me off. This is testament to that. The men just want to laze around, waiting for hand-outs from relatives abroad, then brag about how farming is Bantu work, and not for them, But all hooyo cares about is sustenance, and not the braggadocio. May our women keep growing, keep rising.
A very good initiative to the community they have changed lively hood of pastororist to engage themself in growing crops unlike earlier before they used to depend on livestocks only
Not exactly seeing 'best practices' regarding farming, livestock or housing....
