The Sample Version of the game has been updated to 1.0.6, and it features some important new additions! Lilac has a new Blink Dash ability that allows her to teleport across short distances; She can use it after guarding to either counterattack her foes or flee to safety. Carol has also learned some new tricks in the form of long-range kicking attacks. Neera can lay down Spike Traps to catch enemies, block projectiles, and spring herself high into the air. There are also tons of bug fixes, graphical and performance improvements, and more!
This is looking more and more fantastic as development continues. Hope the complete package is great, everyone. :)

We're definitely still in production, we only tend to share major announcements once a year at Christmas since repeating, "We're still working on it" but not always having stuff to show would get tedious. :)

I loved the first game because it was a nod to classic Sonic style gameplay but had it's own identity. From this trailer I can see that this is going to continue but you are furthering your own identity by adding new characters with different gameplay, adding new moves for the original three, and adding new hazards and puzzles that seem very ambitious. I cannot wait to play this game, (which I am hoping we be on the Switch) you take all the time you need to make this game awesome!

The character sprites look WAY more detailed than last time. Really hope for a physical edition somewhere down the line unless there is gonna be one and I just missed it.

This outright makes up the wait of 10 months since showcasing characters. Lilac's dash gives Spade vibes.
Also excited yet anxious that Corazon tea has a widespread attack which makes guarding more than a fancy addition. Smash Bros vibes of gitting gud.

Is it strange that the two games I'm looking forward to the most in 2018 Freedom Planet 2 and Ori and the Will of the Wisps? 2 of the best indie games I've played and two of the best soundtracks I've heard.
You should definitely check out Iconoclasts as well. It's coming out early next year and has been in development for almost 8 years.

Another Indie game to look forward to in my opinion is CrossCode.
Aint a 2d platformer but it looks great.
I'm in the same boat. Freedom Planet 2 and Ori are pretty much the only games I'm looking forward to. I'm just so tired of FPS after FPS that all run together to the point they feel like copies of each other. There seems like so much more creativity going on with many of the independent games.

Oh, hey, it's Woofle! Your soundtrack to the first Freedom Planet was my favorite of 2014, and I still listen to it regularly (my favorite track is Pangu Lagoon 1, but I'm also partial to Aqua Tunnel 2, Relic Maze 1, and... well, pretty much most of the soundtrack, TBH!). I'm really looking forward to playing this sequel, and I'm looking forward to listening through its soundtrack just as much! I've listened to some of the alpha-version tracks, and really liked what I heard, but am waiting to hear everything in context before I listen to anything more.
Anyway, just wanted to stop in and say, thanks for being awesome, and please keep doin' what you're doin'! Strife, too. And everyone else involved. Freedom Planet rules!

Since Freedom Planet 2 is using Unity Engine, yes. It's possible because Switch supported it.

I like how they changed Lilac's running animation from Sonic-like to Ninja-like. I think it's more fitting for the new design and proves that they are mantaining their word of giving the franchise its own identity from now on. Good.
Ironically, her new run is more in line with Modern Sonic compared to the old run which was obviously inspired by Classic Sonic.

Damn this looks super fun. I love how you guys have started to focus the game more on action. The crazy variety of different moves and combat maneuvers looks so fun to mess around with. I can't wait!

Yeah I agree. Just finished the first game on Lilac's story and I'm glad this seems to focus more on action than the first game did which was kind of a combo of action and speed

There are many amazing games coming out next year.... But this one is now officially the game I look forward to the most. This looks AMAZING. ^_^ It's such a huge improvement over the original which was already amazing. THIS is how you do a sequel.

The more I see of this game (and the more I play of the demos you've been releasing), the more I'm thoroughly convinced this is gonna be one of those awesome sequels that improves upon everything that the first game did right and fixes the things the first game did wrong. So excited!
I love how each character pops out, especially with their own stylistic move set and abilities! Plus the gameplay is as or more frantic than the first, that’s for sure. I can’t wait for a release date x) Keep pushing GalaxyTrail!!

It looks like Freedom Planet 2 is taking some cues from Spark The Electric Jester, more specifically for Lilac. She now has a dash and air dash.
If it's one thing that Freedom Planet needed, it certainly was the dash.

It’s almost here, today it’s the 10th of August 2022 and on the 13th of September 2022, a month and 3 days, it finally arrives on Steam.
This game is really starting to show some polish! With Sonic Mania out, I'm happy you gave this game more of its own identity as well. It's looking more "Megaman" than Sonic at this point and I couldn't be happier! All the characters look fun to play as, which is more than I can say about FP1.
Now, the important question: Double pack special edition for Switch when?
Still my most anticipated game of 2019. I'm buying this the second it comes out.

The original was already great and the sequel looks lots of times better. It's hard to believe that Freedom Planet started as a Sonic fan-made game to end up as a very fresh game that is even better than most 2D Sonic games that have been released after Genesis era.
Looking forward the final game.

Even Mania and Forces were rushed out (Mania was intended to get more cutscenes between levels and Forces took 3 years making the newer engine and 1 for the game itself)

That dynamic camera zooming is a really cool touch
I just beat the demo with Carol without ground jumps, handlebar jumps, or jump disc. I might have an obsession.
I will for sure purchase. I mean, the game always had this kitschy Voltron meets Thundercats aesthetic that was a little weird but you guys deserve the support on solid gameplay alone, and the polish on this one looks leagues ahead of the first game.

I played both Sonic Mania and Freedom Planet, and while I do like both and Sonic has a place in my heart and childhood, Freedom Planet was definitely the better game for me after I was completely done with Mania. The characters are far more diverse from each other, have different stages, enemies are actually dangerous, and the boss battles are much better paced and fun, and far less turn-based. Even with no DLC, the first Freedom Planet was a well rounded package with plenty to do. Plus that soundtrack...

tiny nitpick tho: Milla's sprite issue from FP1 is still present in FP2, where her bracelets aren't properly re-mapped when facing to the left.

Love the new lilac run spirte but anyone else feel like neera needs a bit more attacks? I love her but she is the hardest to master.

She takes a lot to master
I get it. She is the slow and powerful to carol fast but weaker. In terms of attacks. My major complain is that her attacks leave her open a lot of the time but I guess that is why they have a dodge button.
She also has super armor on attacks and the most health, so she gives no fucks about smaller enemies.
Game is looking amazing. Can't wait to play the full release!

Well, yes. Especially the music. But that kinda goes without saying when you look up the history of the first Freedom Planet.
