I drift in real life and I definitely think the BeamNG tires are too rudimentary. It can be mostly counteracted with extra rear toe-in but they seem to have a very "on-off" lateral grip, like a switch. They go from full grip to no grip, when in reality it's much more complicated than that. In Beam, slight mistakes that could be correctable IRL cause you to spin out instantly, and it's almost impossible to have real control over your line and angle once you start sliding. I love Beam and I hope they update the tire system soon, because it make it the perfect sim game.

Yeah tire models need a rework in beamng but also the aerodynamics😂

@@wasyann33Definitely assetto. The way the tires in assetto behave is much more akin to real life.

strange, it feels like in assetto much easier to drift, control a car, than in beamng
but maybe thats the point, basic drift irl not so hard as i thought

@@gelatinous6915 assetto the drift is easy in second, then you can put 90psi per tyre and have 500 hp the car does not tear the tyre .... after 4500h on beamNG, I tried assetto ... I had the impression to play need for speed ... then the community is abject on assetto ... it is narrow and paying.
Don't forget that, unlike assetto, beamNG hasn't been abandoned by the devs.

AC has a smoother, less detailed FFB engine compared to beamng, which pumps info into the wheel it often times cannot really handle. But for best drifting FFB, I'd say hands down it's Live for Speed

Once again, BeamNG's downfall is that it's too realistic for casuals to enjoy. It's too good for this world, it's truly the perfect driver's game.

@jahrive7516 sim racers aren't paid to say beam is bad it just isn't a sim racing game.
It is getting better and better with each update but still doesn't hold up against any of the major sim titles in the racing department. Big thing beam has going for it is the damage physics.

@SoylentGamer me personally. I prefer realistic. Cause it can aid in real life driving, if you wish to pursue that kind of life style that is.

@@RLN13SAs for the physics. It's not beams engine that's the issue. Its how beam built the cars and how the modding community builds theirs. For example I recently got a mod that completely destroyed the physics of beams current vehicles. All cause the modder did the research, and grabbed the correct specs from real life, and slammed them into the vehicles they were putting in the game. But the problem with assetto. Is that the physics are all simulated without response from the model. But in turn the physics don't respond to much besides the ground, wind, and temperature. Meanwhile the cars in beam are responding to more than that, to the point where the suspension alone can change the power coming from the engine to the wheels, or the aerodynamics, and all of that changes in real time. But in Assetto, this is all done with mathematical equations in several lines of code. It's why the cars also feel a bit like a boat in assetto than in beam.

@@SoylentGamer "causals" I aint even an adult yet and I enjoy the game, how can a driving game be "too realistic"? literally nobody ever said that but you and unintelligent children who thought BeamNG's handling will feel like forza before buying the game. If you have trouble steering, it's because you're steering with the WRONG input method, you should be steering with a mouse rather than the keyboard

Regardless of what’s better, the science is the same. If you drift IRL then you’ll see what too much or too little throttle does while in drift. You’ll understand purpose of handbrake and what it does in response to how much turn you have on the steering wheel. You’ll know what left foot braking does especially when wall riding. It’s obviously not going to translate to real life but it’s nice to know the coding formulas used are close enough that anyone who does drift irl will very quickly know how to drift in both AC and BeamNG and appreciate how close they managed to match real world

what i like about assetto corsa's cameras more is that you can actually still feel the drift of your car in 3rd person view, because it always sticks behind the car in a super hard way just like an extention to the car itself, while in beamng you sometimes already slide out super hard before noticing it in 3rd person because the camera is just super chill while it happens

haven't played ac much (because vanilla is just boring and most of the time i can't get the mods to work. i honestly dont get it why people say it's so realistic, imo the physics are actually good but the other stuff like the effects and sounds are so bad) but i play a lot of beamng and can say that this is just much simpler to mod and the physics are more realistic

Assetto is drag and drop for most mods, pretty simple.
Plenty of sound mods for AC made from real cars.
I had zero pc knowledge and it took maybe 30 minutes reading and watching videos to understand how to install mods, manually change sounds and get everything working.
It is one of the more simple games to install moes with numerous forums posts and videos to help.

Use CSP (custom shaders) with Assetto. A lot of times mods need CSP to work, which explains why they don't work, and assetto looks a lot lot better with CSP + a few environmental mods too.

@@RLN13S I still think BeamNG is a lot easier to mod bc it it is much faster. + BeamNG takes up much less space than Assetto Corsa and is very well optimized. It is hard for me to say which is better because you only understand it when you've played both games for at least 100 hours. For me the details in BeamNG are mainly what makes me choose beam over assetto anytime.

    • @RLN13S
      @RLN13S 7 місяців тому +1

@1B1SHUP1G30N All you have to do on assetto is download the mod you want and drag and drop the zipped file onto the content manager desktop icon.
Space shouldn't really be an issue for most these days and AC isn't really that big if you delete the mods you never use.
I will have to put more consistent time into beam but it has never felt great to me and certainly hasn't felt anywhere close to any of my irl cars. Have tried it on a thrustmaster tx and moza r9, certainly a cool game but just doesn't do it for me in terms of driving feel.
