Hey DC3rairoadman Im a Rhode Islander and recognize that reoccurring shot , that bend of track between the Union Ave bridge and the Cranston St underpass! Used to hang under that bridge when it was a wood and tar-covered relic; nearly twenty years ago !!! Ah, I can still smell the grease on hot summers afternoon, taking refuge under Union Ave, waiting for the next train....or the Amtrack police!!! Oh the memmories!! Thanks DC3rrm!!! Central Falls RR Station @ 3:45; Narragansett Brewery @ 1:38!
Thank you for this site. I was stationed in Aberdeen, MD in 1967. It was so fun to hop a train to get to New York City, Baltimore or DC. That was then. Now I live in Iowa. Here's hoping that we'll get rail transportation improvements soon!. Thank you, again!
NICE VIDEO. Thanks for taking the time to put this video together. Your love for the railroad and the railroaders shows in the quality of your videos and your site. You must work with a great bunch of people.
Love your video. My 3 yr old grandson loves trains. We live in Kansas and see freight trains all the time. Amtrak comes thru here in middle of night, so we don't see them. Thanks!
That was a great video. It's always a great thrill watching those acelas go by. It's an even greater thrill for you getting to stand next to them as they go by.
This is one of my all-time favorite UA-cam videos. It makes me want to hop the Lake Shore Ltd and travel up and down the East Corridor in the really fast trains. The song by the Quad City DJ's is a perfect match for the video. GREAT VIDEO. Miss the one - Short Ride to Beantown. It was also excellent
The Narragansett Brewery! Boy are we talking "old school." When I first hired on the railroad they were still getting serviced by Conrail. A few months later it was all gone. Now there isn't even a trace of the brewery or the railroad that served it!
it's people like you who make youtube awesome! Thanks for the enjoyable video with the totally appropriate song. Great shooting and editing, thanks very much for posting
the tgv was developed by Alstom, but uses some bombardier technologies (ex. gear boogies.) While the Acela was 75% done by bombardier and 25% of Alstom
I like the song a lot :D Indeed catchy and fits the motion picture. I personally like the Japanese high-speed train along with the Thalys the nicest trains. And the old orange TGV for nostalgia reasons.
very nice video. especially the new electrified sections towards Boston. It was also great to see the approach to the Hell Gate Bridge. That's worth its weight in gold. It's not high speed but'd it be nice to capture the new switching manuevers at New Rochelle, NY since the trackwork was re-done at the fork where the former New Haven RR goes toward Grand Central Station and the Amtraks head towards Penn Station.
Another is that freight trains are often stopping to hook and unhook cars. Freight trains that run for great distances without stopping are the exception rather than the rule.
Hey, thanks a lot for your nice comment. I actually put together something similar to this for potential commercial use but "they" weren't the least bit interested. I'm just thrilled so many people are enjoying this video.
I'll assure you, this is NOT a time lapse. These trains are going normal speeds in their area (the Acela in the beginning was somewhere between 120 - 150 MPH.).
well if you want to get techinical between boston and washington there are a ton of trains Amtrak NEC line, MARC, SEPTA NJ Transit, Mtro North, LIRR in long island, and last but not least MBTA so if you think about it between Boston and DC there are alot of trains.
Thank you for your nice comments. These videos are a tribute to all working railroaders, On Board Services crew, T&E, Engineering, Mechanical Department Employees, Station Services, Train Dispatchers, Signalmen, Car Cleaners, Railroad Police, Car Knockers, Yardmasters, Clerks, you name it. It takes many great, dedicated, hard working people to keep the railroad running 24/7.
Thank you for the nice comments. Yes, indeed, I do work with a great bunch of folks. The people are the heart and soul of the railroad. I find myself so fortunate to befriend and work with many dedicated, salt of the railroad earth railroaders.
You are ignoring a few points - High speed rail is government funded all over the world. This is the only country that expects rail service to be private enterprise. And don't even start about the other transportation entities being self sufficient - until shipping companies build their own ports, airlines their own airports and car and truck companies their own roads, bridges, et al. Most if not all transportation has government underpinning.
they have to have high speed here in the east besides taking the airshuttle from say NYC the acela is the alternate to air travel its a hell of a lot more money to travel by acela but well worth it. I see Metra out in chicago has some electric trains so its kinda of a start in the right direction
beautiful trains with a very good pendulation system!! However, European high Speed is much more developed (France, Spain, Germany...). in the USA, due to the long distances, planes are the main means of transport and trains are better used in medium distances as it happens within European countries.
Well, so you're a great fan of the Acela. Good for you and I respect your point on that. I'm just as passionate about the TGV and just expressed my personal opinion. Made my point too, eh? RESPECT.
Yah, you're right.. They removed the audio content and I had to replace it with some generic stuff. I have some new stuff coming soon that you all should enjoy.
even though the trains over seas are pretty cool, since i stay stateside I'll be satisfied with acela's 150 or the chief doing 90 between ft madison ia and kc. do u work for a rr?
Hey DC3railroadman, It is a shame that the old music isn't on here anymore. You couldn't possibly (in the description) release your version of the song or give us a link to it? I can't find the same version anywhere.
Well I've been riding the Metra my whole life, but I've never been on one of the electric lines but I know that the electric lines aren't high speed, but its not the Metra I'm talking about, just Amtrak. Because lets face it some people just can't stand flying, not me personally but if your afraid flying you shouldn't have sit on a long boring slow train ride or an unbearable three day car ride.
WELL I don't know verry god the railway sistem in USA but its one great diference between EURAIL and US RAILWAY. In European Union the rail transport are considerate one ecologic transport in contradiction with auto transport. Are builted one interoperabilitty line between France- UK - HOLLAND - Germany - Austria- Hungary- Romania- SWITZERLAND and now Spain ( SNCF - SCOTRAIL - DB - SBB- OBB - MAV - RENFE - SNCFR )
The US needs more Electric trains, and electrified routes. The Government needs to support them instead of penalising them as they do to kiss the oil industry's butt!
It's a shame that this is probably the only high speed rail line currently in the U.S.A. at this time. I'm glad that Obama is pushing for a nation-wide system.
Great! Thank you!!! That was very enjoyable, and my three year old wants to see all your videos now!
This is one of my all time favorite UTUBE videos. Thanks for takin' the time to create it. 5-stars!!!

Talk about a song that goes well with the trains! Excellent vid!
I like trains and I like the music that goes with this video. Makes me think of travelling to New York City. Thanks
Nice stuff coming from a RR guy here of the past. I need to get on that acela as yet on the NE corridor. Nice train beat song lol Thanks for posting.

cool video. Makes me wonder how many of those trains in the video were me running!
This is one of my all-time favorite UA-cam videos. It makes me want to hop the Lake Shore Ltd and travel up and down the East Corridor in the really fast trains. The song by the Quad City DJ's is a perfect match for the video.

I was on the TGV a number of years ago what a wonderful experience. Great film!
it's people like you who make youtube awesome! Thanks for the enjoyable video with the totally appropriate song. Great shooting and editing, thanks very much for posting
That song is so catchy! Its
C'mon 'N Ride it The train. (Quad City DJ)
Nice trains, very intereseting eilm with good actions.
Cheers!
Great video and great music.
That was the last Acela trainset to be deadheaded to the Providence MOW Base prior to the suspension of Acela service a few years ago.
the tgv was developed by Alstom, but uses some bombardier technologies (ex. gear boogies.) While the Acela was 75% done by bombardier and 25% of Alstom
how funky is that tune!!!!
I like the song a lot :D Indeed catchy and fits the motion picture. I personally like the Japanese high-speed train along with the Thalys the nicest trains. And the old orange TGV for nostalgia reasons.
Awesome footage! I especially love the approach to Hell Gate Bridge. Pennsy (and America) at its industrial best! I like the music too.
Love the Vid and the music makes the feeling
GOD BLESS THE RAILROAD... there is nothing like being in the cab doing 125 mph.
very nice video. especially the new electrified sections towards Boston. It was also great to see the approach to the Hell Gate Bridge. That's worth its weight in gold.

really good. ..
greetings from italy!

very cool video, funny and nice!Thank you!
I'm talking about a nationwide high speed railway, that's what we need.
Atlanta needs to be a hub to the Carolinas and the Southern Coast.
unfortunately no high speed rail from Chicago to Denver...just on the coasts :(
nice vid!
I was deadheading on an Acela and videotaped the MNRR train from our train.
Excellent choice.
I'll assure you, this is NOT a time lapse. These trains are going normal speeds in their area (the Acela in the beginning was somewhere between 120 - 150 MPH.).
My bass is so loud.. I swear I can hear the song in my feet! (on the desk)
From what I understand, I think the Acela tops out at around 165-170.
NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE! Love the music! Some of the cuts are too fast to get a clear picture at fullscreen, but it's a great video all the same.
Great Video....
very good video _ thanks !
come on fast train go faster come on tchoo tchoo ride on the very very fast train
your right. even there catenary system is advance. In the Us some still use MA system while EUR uses static inverters systems for there catenary
Hi Great vid ,,5*s and a fav Thanks Sean Greetings from England
Awesome vid and music (A Thousand Miles by Summer Channel)

Nothing to beat the French TGV :-)
@ Danotto9797: There is a diesel ICE train: the ICE-TD: it's maximum speed is (if I remember it right) 280 km/h.
What I think he means by nation wide is not for the 200 mph/ 320 km/h but the 110 mph/180 km/h systems nationwide
all aboard the chooo chooo train! chooo chooo
the song was C'mon ride it (the Train) by Quad city DJ.
I think the Long Distance trains used to originate at boston
No, there is nothing. Not a trace unfortunatley. Just a part of the past now. Thanks for the reply and keep the vids coming!! Take care DC3RRM
super cool!
Pretty cool video. I like the music too!

woww! awesome dood!!
hi ...very nice video, I would see american trains own eyes, especialy Acela. btw ...where is that nice great bridge(time 2:50)?
Metro North goes through where I live!
Thank you for the nice comments. Yes, indeed, I do work with a great bunch of folks. The people are the heart and soul of the railroad. I find myself so fortunate to befriend and work with many dedicated, salt of the railroad earth railroaders.

yo i take it u work for amtrak to be able to hang out of a window on an ACELA? thats nuts dude!!!
I just did some googling and it looks like the name of the group is Summer Channel.
nice!!!
juz niedlugo doczekamy sie podobnych pociagow w polsce
I love Amtrak acela so much
In Russia we have fast trains too, sometimes going over 60 mph! Exciting stuff man, and they're as comfortable as a city bus too!
they have to have high speed here in the east besides taking the airshuttle from say NYC the acela is the alternate to air travel its a hell of a lot more money to travel by acela but well worth it. I see Metra out in chicago has some electric trains so its kinda of a start in the right direction

song is called c'mon n' ride it by Quad City DJ's
This song is A Thousand Miles by Summer Channel. Not C'mon N' Ride It.
That is a Nathan P5L horn.
Well, so you're a great fan of the Acela. Good for you and I respect your point on that. I'm just as passionate about the TGV and just expressed my personal opinion. Made my point too, eh? RESPECT.
Acela Express is a beautiful train! But i prefer french TGV and italian Frecciarossa. 5 stars! :-)
He shot it right by the tracks, which is off limits to public, he works for the railroad, so he has the right to be down there
To my first question, I actually don't ride them every day because I have school.
BRAVO MAESTRO *****
Name of this song is A Thousand Miles by Summer Channel.......Great Video! :)
there all true except the acela is a tad slower than the tgv, but the acela's interior is wayyy better, and the acela also looks better... :P
Thank you!
bonito video saludos desde españa
The train at 0:30 allways scared me,probly because of the noise and appearance :\
No that's in New York City, Hellgate Bridge
Yah, you're right.. They removed the audio content and I had to replace it with some generic stuff. I have some new stuff coming soon that you all should enjoy.
Nice! What group is the music?
even though the trains over seas are pretty cool, since i stay stateside I'll be satisfied with acela's 150 or the chief doing 90 between ft madison ia and kc. do u work for a rr?
It's neat that you all think the Acela is so great, and yes... it can do what the TGV can do.
But it doesn't.
So the TGV is better.
Hey DC3railroadman, It is a shame that the old music isn't on here anymore. You couldn't possibly (in the description) release your version of the song or give us a link to it?
I can't find the same version anywhere.
Where did you pass the Metro North Commuters because I ride them every weekday and sometimes i see the Acela Express.
did u record a lot of this stuff in the Rhode Island area?
Well I've been riding the Metra my whole life, but I've never been on one of the electric lines but I know that the electric lines aren't high speed, but its not the Metra I'm talking about, just Amtrak. Well these are American Bullet Trains. And we are American and we prefer our very fast trains to Italy's trains. But thanks for your opinion.
The US needs more Electric trains, and electrified routes. The Government needs to support them instead of penalising them as they do to kiss the oil industry's butt!
to bad that it only goes up to 150 on the route, and theres so many speed restrictions, that you only get 150 for a fraction of the time...
that is fast
VERY COOL
not permitted in the middle of the country...only the coasts...
It's a shame that this is probably the only high speed rail line currently in the U.S.A. at this time. I'm glad that Obama is pushing for a nation-wide system.
@datorres82, well there is... doing 185 mph in UK, Germany and France... look up Eurostar or TGV then weep!
