- This Wilesco D 36 Steam Roller "Old Smoky" is about 35 years old and still working fine! The only problem is, that the steam regulator valve is a bit too loose and sometimes closes itself.
The steam is produced by an "Esbit" fire.
So let's play with this thing!

You are meant to have two layers of fuel blocks, the bottom layer flat and the top layer on their side. This makes them produce more heat, longer running and easier to light.
i have still got my one from 1969! same colors as the video
Well, you don't see such a toy every day. I think, this is one of those that Karlsson On The Roof had. If I remember correctly, he had thousands of them, but they exploded.
Luckily, mine did not explode so far
My gear goes out of place sometimes when i am driving, does anyone have a solution on it?
Por casualidad lo estás vendiendo por Ebay
You could mount alot of RC stuff under that hood.. Turning , Whistle , and Throttle R/C controlled, but still steam powered..
This would be possible. But I will not change anything on this old steam roller
a bit to loose? more like a lot loose. looks like it could fall off..
소수의 매니어를 위하여 이렇게 훌륭한 제품을 만드는 분들 복 많이 받으세요.
I too own a d365 and it was my first steam model ever. I like it a lot and converted it to butane firing because I don´t like the smelly and poisonous esbit fuel tablets . Otherwise I kept the engine completely stock and run her with the optional cable steering device. She reminds me a lot of BETSY, the famous Roller owned by the Dibnah Family
I’m gonna have to look into that!
Make it rc please🤣
Lol
Wilesco used to sell RC Kits for these. IIRC you can still buy the Models with RC installed but can't buy the RC Units separately. They only allow to control Speed and Steering; if you want to reverse the Engine you need some additional Parts because the Valve Gear of the Engine isn't designed for reversing.
I too have Old Smokey (bought I think back in 1986]……I bought the last of the wilesco RC1 units….just happened to be on their site when they advertised the last set.
haha epic
I have old smokey steam roller too
Me too
Can you tighten the regulater with a nut hex or screw?
No. Unfortunately it's flanged and became loose over time
that's something worth fixing though. If you can't control the RPM it's almost useless. You could probably put some screw lock fluid on there. Or you could order a new part.
