    I love brands that offer their models in both wheel size options, wish everyone did that. Just got a vitus Mythique VRS 29, it's such a damn nice trail bike! Really want to own a nukeproof one day, absolutely love that brand.

    That bike is pretty compelling. Just bought a stumpjumper 27.5 after comparing it to a 5010. Reactor is also in that same category.

      Sohaib Younus doesn’t the 5010 only have 130mm travel front and rear?

    • @sohaibyounus
      @sohaibyounus 4 роки тому

      @@aaroncrain2343 it does, rear travel is not that big of a deal for me 150 vs 130 and the fork can be replaced with a 140-150 depending on what you need. I demoed a 5010 in Downieville and the fork was not enough for the big hits. The reason I didn't buy the 5010 is simply the price. I own a YT and I can't buy any of these brand names brand new knowing what I can get for my money. Got a 40% off deal on the stumpy demo bike plus I wanted to try out the swat box and its been aweosme for riding without a pack.

    About the leverage ratio, start of shock course will by not sensitive I think. A wood piece ...

    • @vitalmtb
      @vitalmtb  4 роки тому +5

      Why do you think that? The leverage ratio is actually increasing during the initial part of travel, making it easier to compress the shock as it moves towards the sag point. It then turns progressively lower throughout the stroke, making it harder to compress the shock towards the end stroke (to avoid bottoming out).

    Is the Lyrik Ultimate RCT3 inferior compared to the RC2? I can't find any official information on this and forum warriors seem to think so

    • @vitalmtb
      @vitalmtb  4 роки тому +1

      The RC2 gives you external control over the high-speed damping, which may be an advantage in particular for riders at either end of the weight scale (lighter or heavier riders). For the 88-kg tester here, the RCT3 left nothing to be desired in terms of adjustments.

    Maybe i'm too demanding, but if a long term review doesn't highlight some reliability issues, then it would be extrememely valuable to actually service the linkage and swap cables and housing to check if there are any horrors waiting for the buyers. It made me laugh when I read under Trek bike video with ABP rear suspension, that a rider has purchased a spare hanger to carry on him in case of a damage on the trail. And he kinda proudly annouced that. He didn't even know, that without 23mm spanner you can't replace the hanger. It should be written in large yellow font on every Trek's webpage with a bike, that uses ABP. And tbh, the price for an alloy spanner Trek sells to "save" their customers is for one extortionate, and second, this spanner should be included with the bike.
    I'm sure there is stuff on bikes that is just as bad and this would bring a lot of value to long term tests, that otherwise only say specs, geo, no problems, how it handles(which we know from short term reviews)

    • @smokedsalmon3907
      @smokedsalmon3907 4 роки тому

      Proprietary parts on an mtb are always asking for trouble in my eyes. I love Cannondale but really don't like all their custom standards. Same with treks re-activ shocks. But isn't ABP more just a suspension linkage style? Thought I read that it was like a more basic linkage driven single pivot but they put the brake on a floating seatstay instead of chainstay to counter brake jack?

    • @polishguywithhardtospellna8227
      @polishguywithhardtospellna8227 4 роки тому +1

      @@smokedsalmon3907 Because ABP is based on having a pivot through rear axle, the hanger is part of replaceable threads. It's got them on the inside for axle and outside for the 23mm spanner nut, and hanger is a carrier for the pivot too. So I might talked out my ass a bit, but I believe all ABP bikes from Trek have this hanger mounted like that. Although I'm sure it could have been done separately with tiny bit more weight.

    • @smokedsalmon3907
      @smokedsalmon3907 4 роки тому

      @@polishguywithhardtospellna8227 ah interesting, thank you for the explanation. Love learning more about suspension design on mtb's. I had always wondered what was meant by "floating seatstay".

    • @polishguywithhardtospellna8227
      @polishguywithhardtospellna8227 4 роки тому +1

      @@smokedsalmon3907 My 2019 EX7 also has floating shock, which I'm happy about as the new 2020 supposedly "doesn't need it" due to advancement in shock tech, which I'd rather explain with cost saving although it's so similar amount of alloy in so similar place. Although I'd gladly swap with 2020 geometry-wise

    • @smokedsalmon3907

    Good job i guess, still goina stay as far away from that thing as possible. Since you dont even seem to be confident in your own product...
