I do not have words to describe what a Hindustanani Classical Singer Abhishekibuwa was. Hearing his presentation of the Raga Marwa gives one The goose bumps due to the clarity of his singing & the finer nuances of the raga which are brought about. No wonder I consider him as the ultimate & unique & hence my DAIVAT. All glory to him. Dr. Dilip S. Naik ( ENT Surgeon).

Dear Sudhir, Over the last 71 yrs. I have heard Raga Marwa by many top class musicians of repute but the Raga Marwa as presented by Abhishekibuwa takes the cake. You have indeed done a great service for connoisseurs & aficiondos of Hindustanani Classical like me by posting this particular Buwa's rendition of Raga Marwa on You Tube. May God Almighty bless you in the service of Classical Music. One can judge how super the rendition was especially the Tarana at the end, by the loud & sincillating applause of the knowledgeable audience.
      Dr. Dilip S. Naik.

I too love Marwa. Personally I would Amir khansaheb's Marwa the best. I have also put a recording of Kumarji's live recording of Marwa. Do look it up.

Thanks a million Tambeji for sharing this most amazing version of Pandit Abhisheki's signature raga, Marwa. I have had the great fortune of listening it live from the maestro several times in the past. What a singer! Imagination, technique and vision personified. Incomparable really. I recall during one recital of Marwa in Pune in 1971, he stopped midway (uncharacteristically) and told us a story about Marwa's unique ""orphaned" scale (durbal sa and absent pa) that he had heard from Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan...about how Marwa was created by the Creator who suffered from pangs of cosmic loneliness after creation of the world...so the scale embodies the loneliness of the universe unlike any arrangement of notes in the universe!
BTW, have you folks heard commercially recorded version of Pt D V Paluskar's Marwa?...I feel he achieves more in three minutes than what most musicians would struggle to do in three hours! Likewise Ut Abdul Karim Khan.
Of course, Amir Khansaheb's Marwa is absolutely monumental but in different ways from this uniquely tuneful version of the raga presented by Abhisheki-buwa; Also we must not forget that this was this unique raga that brought Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan into the limelight from relative obscurity. And when Naushad went to àudition'' Pt Paluskar for Baiju Barwa along with Amir Khansaheb (who had proposed the Gwalior maestro's name to the music director), he sang the very same Marwa.
