Charles, not only did it have a column shifter but also vacuum assist shift. My dad had one except his was a four door sedan. The radio antenna was located under the running boards. They were straps, one on each side.
This car was nicely equipped for its time. In addition to the left side mirror other options on this car were the clock and the AM radio and the Heater. All those items were options back in 1939.
Hopefully the new owner will let you get to look it over when it's done . . . another one saved should be very nice when done good to hear you got a good buck for it

It was a lot of car for the money, which is why they outsold the Fords, even though Ford had the V-8.

According to my dad, my grandfather's 38 had column shift,and was the first year for that feature.
