It sad 55/56 second to impact, Archer have a muzzle velocity of 700m/s (56 x 700 = 39200meters = 39.2 km), which mean it is about 40km away, in reality, with lag time and hang time, the range is probably closer, and bear in mind the max range for this artillery piece is around 55km to 60km with Excalibur round (Which I doubt they use them in this demo which explain the 40km range, as it is maxed out of base bleed), which mean if this system is deployed at the edge of range, it can probably fire 6 ot 7 rounds before the first one hit.
If it takes 54 seconds flight time for the first one to impact. Then it is approximately the same time for the enemy's counter battery fire. And then the ARCHER left over a minute ago and is 400 to 500 meters away.
The only good solution against counter-artillery radars. 50 seconds - this is for the fire distance about 10-15 kilometers. With Ratheyon Excaliburs rocket assisted GPS guided shells (60 kilometers distance of fire) it is possible to fire 40 shells and go away until first of them will hit the target.
@@АндрейБ-е1ь Using gps jammers implies you already know the ballistic trajectory and where it's going to be/coming from. These shells can be fired from something like the Archer artillery system - of which can be moved around very quickly - from a distance of 60km. You cannot simply jam from that distance let alone predicting where it's going to land then setting up jammers there. Setting up jammers everywhere isn't realistic either. Yes, it is expensive, but of course this does not replace traditional artillery shells. As a military planner you want to be able to have that option to conduct high precision strikes so having a few of these isn't a bad thing. Making the comparison against traditional artillery/shells is just not the right thing. This is in a class of it's own

This is still an absolutely magnificent and terrifying system however. Just have to make sure the supporting logistics elements are updated and kept up to speed too, which often in Western militaries just blatantly are not.
@@tylerjuarez9817 I agree that it is a very terrifying system, and also that it needs a lot of support to make it operate at full capacity. However, I can say that (depending on the country) your assertion about lock of logistic support is wrong.
New weapon system = new doctrine and training.
@@tylerjuarez9817 Western logistics arent up to date?
So, a normal artillery battery?
Don't forget the massive amounts of spare parts and mechanic labor needed when this thing gets produced with paper mache and cotton balls since it's already paid for in a contract
Damn.... Like, DAMN! It's already packed up and on its way out before the first round hits! That's one impressive machine.
Even more impressive is that the target system can adjust the arc of each shot so that they all land on target at the exact same time. The first shot get a higher arc and takes longer than the next etc.
The best is : this can hit SAME target with 3 rounds in the SAME time - by adjusting trajectory
The Archer and the Excalibur round (the round “half” Swedish developed by Bofors and Raytheon) super deadly, and No comparison,an accuracy of less then radial 2 meters.
Huh?
THAN!
If it takes 54 seconds flight time for the first one to impact. Then it is approximately the same time for the enemy's counter battery fire. And then the ARCHER left over a minute ago and is 400 to 500 meters away.
It is amazing that something that is moving so fast (the projectile) has such a long flight time.
They purposely give it a high arc so they can get multiple shots off before the first lands....you wouldnt use artillery against a moving target anyhow so time in flight isnt much of an issue
Archer shoots up to 50 kilometres distance.
The ultimate road rage solution. I've been told the one weak point in this artillery vehicle is it has only two cup holders and 8-track.
🤣Have 8-Track Will-Travel...a big f'n Gun--No Cup Holders...
There are plenty of solid beats on 8-track.
With this you don't need a cupholder. A barrel behind the cabin with a pipe to the sits will deliver you non-stopping stream of the liquid of your choice.
Operated by only 2-4 people, even 1 single person can handle it all in extreme cases, everything is heavily automated. The crew never has to leave the armor protected cabin during the whole shoot-and-scoot process, they have *everything* they need to remain inside the protection for 24 hours non-stop operation. The information technology system is créme de la créme, perfect situation awareness, networked with other units and acting fully coordinated like as a single unit. Normal standard NATO explosive grenades, the Bofors BONUS grenade, the Bofors EXCALIBUR grenade. And more to come. Very fast, flexible and powerful. 🙂
He was onto the next location before the first round even impacts.Game changer! So awesome. Protect this technology.
Respecting the fact that modern Counter Battery Radars need around 1-2 Minutes to safely locate a firing position, this is pretty much a game changer
Any source for this 1-2 minute figure? Is it for PESA Radars? Or are PESA faster? I know AESA radars would be a lot faster.

Pull out and get out
Amateur
Those are rookie numbers.
I wonder if it can be faster in the end if you can pull the stability and do all that switching back while pulling out or if it's a stepped process
You are gonna want that stability though for long range firing. Even a little instability could translate to a couple inches of extra, unaccounted for barrel away by the computer system. That could translate to missing a target by several hundred meters if the target is a long ways away.
@@fieldmarshalbaltimore1329 if even it can not fall on a side stuck

Proud to have welded parts for BAE, and my uncle used to build the test targets for missiles in Florida.

60 km with en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M982_Excalibur
It sad 55/56 second to impact, Archer have a muzzle velocity of 700m/s (56 x 700 = 39200meters = 39.2 km), which mean it is about 40km away, in reality, with lag time and hang time, the range is probably closer, and bear in mind the max range for this artillery piece is around 55km to 60km with Excalibur round (Which I doubt they use them in this demo which explain the 40km range, as it is maxed out of base bleed), which mean if this system is deployed at the edge of range, it can probably fire 6 ot 7 rounds before the first one hit.

And very good passive armor, it can works well in combination with this AMAP ADS active protection system - ua-cam.com/video/iKeuVHKc92U/v-deo.html

@@АндрейБ-е1ь Yes, and simple GPS-jammer turn this shell into regular "dumb" artillery shell. So this solution should be used very precisely.
Wait, the time to impact is HOW long?! That’s some crazy range!
about 30km using standard shells and 60km when shooting with Excaliburs
It's even had a automatic 12,7 turret to protect it from enemy's infantry units
The biggest weakness, or rather the best counter to artillery is a counter battery, using sensors or knowledge to triangulate where the artillery shot from and shoot back. And that is because most artillery platforms over a certain calibre are stationary and take minutes or longer to shift.
This platform can be moving outside counter battery range before the enemy has even been hit by the barrage. Insane.
The fact it can move off just in time for the first shell to be hitting is unreal
The Swedish government and armed forces just announced that they are sending 50 CV90's, 90 NLAW's and a bit later an unspecified amount of Archers to Ukraine. 😤👍

3 impac in a minute and not knowing where it come from. Speed and maneuvrability is the new weapon
Not really "new". Speed and maneuverability have always been desired qualities for any aspect of a military force, not just combat elements. I used to be part of a Field Ambulance unit in the Reserves; the first platoons of which were designed to be set up a few km behind the front lines to stabilize battlefield casualties for transport further back to the field hospital. We had it down to where we'd be able to pull into a location after scouting by the Platoon officer, and set up to receive casualties within 15 minutes or less.

Impressive but are the hydraulics strong enough to begin deployment while the vehicle is coming to a stop and then begin stowing as the vehicle begins to move again. This cuts out 20 - 30 seconds of time. Also, why not add a gun stabilization feature and special rounds with PGM kits installed so that the vehicle doesn't have to stop at all.
