When you get that feeling of anxiety take a deep breath let the oxygen wash your brain. You are a very good communicator. I am a 59-year-old haircolorist trying to keep up with the industry and you and your communication are of great help😊💕💫
Keep up ...that's the challenge... 46 yr old here
Thank you for that! I definitely don't take time to breathe at work when I'm stressed. That is such a thoughtful tip!
Hello, age 55 here! Went to beauty college at age 47. ♡ love it!
VERY gorgeous color!
I'm right there with you!!!! I sometimes feel I'm not good enough, but I love what I do ❤️
I tried this technique about six months ago, and let me tell you, it turned out AMAZING!!! I encountered a couple of colorists who didn’t want to work on my hair so I gave up and decided to do it myself, I have a level 3 hair color, so it was too dark for them. I did the whole thing and people kept complementing me everywhere. Thank you so much for your wisdom and YEARS of hard work and your own learning, this video is invaluable!
I always feel like I work way too hard and spend hours trying to make a balayage look like this on clients. This will cut time down by a lot. Thank you 🙏🏻
You see I went to cosmo school and they mostly taught us just how to pass stateboard and not enough about technique and with your video I feel like I learned a lot and it gave me more confidence!!! I'm exited to try this out
I am 3 months into finishing cosmo school and dude yes ur right they don’t teach you much techniques in school. She has made me confident in doing hair watching her videos
@@ARAZAMNi’m here rn trying to find a good technique for my friends hair. only a couple semesters left and i agree, state board is more important to them
I just did this technique to my best friend today!! It still took me a million years but the results we're beyond amazing, thank you so much!!!!!
Oh yay! So glad you loved it!
@@hairbykristijennings6648 @hair by Kristi Jennings Great job on her hair
@@hairbykristijennings6648 @hair by Kristi Jennings Was it fun????????
I’m in cosmetology school and I did this on my friend and WOW. I think I used to overfoil so much in the beginning and now I’ve learned that less is more sometimes if you want that beautiful dimension. Happy I learned that early on thanks to you and your video! Now I teach my classmates who have watched me and see how much faster my services tend to be now ❤️
Same here I'm so happy I found this technique not only am I saving my clients money I'm also saving time so I can get them in and out quicker instead of spending the whole day as much as I love them the more clients the better
Looks good, and saved time, foils and more! Good way to achieve time!
This is a brilliant execution and stunning finished result! Really appreciate how real you are.
Love from Sweden
Hello! Thank you so much and thank you for watching all the way from Sweden!
@@hairbykristijennings6648 💚🍀
Does anyone else rewatch Kristi's videos multiple times a week, or are you normal?
every night before bed😂
@@vanessatobar54 OMGG right??? THANK YOU!!
Yep watching for the second time😂
Yup
I just did this color technique today after watching this video and it turned out amazing! Thank you so much Kristi 🙏🏻 no root shadow needed 👍🏻
Oh yay! Im so glad! Thank you for watching!
You explain so beautifully the first time and when you go on to explain it a bunch of different ways, it just reinforces my understanding of it. So thank you!
WOW, that came out very beautiful...I started thinking while I was watching, maybe I could do a road trip drive to Washington to get my hair done...lol. ( from florida) Have a good day sweet Kristi~*
Oh wow!! That would be quite the road trip! How brave that would be! So good to see you and hope you are doing well ! ❤️❤️
I love your simplicity and honesty doing a great job. Wish I was a hairdresser in USA
Hello! Thank you so much! ♥️♥️
Thank you so much! I ALWAYS prefer foilayage over free hand. The placement always looks nicer and more blended. I'm always looking for new ways to work smarter not harder and this is EXACTLY what I was looking for!! You explained it perfectly!
My daughter has been wanting highlights for the longest time but couldn't explain how she wanted it with not alot of blonde in it and luckily I came across this video and it's perfect! Thank you for making it easy to see and hear exactly what you're doing step by step without a huge hassle!
Oh good! Im glad it helped! Thank you so much for watching!
Yesterday i told my colorist to do the same back combing technique bcz i want a merge look not want blonde hair n he did opposite he doesn't know how to do back comb n he made my hairs blonde 😞
This is beautiful! Exactly what I was looking for!! And thank you for filming the before and after, and not just taking pictures. Love it!!
Wow that is amazing! Thank you for sharing how you achieved this sun kissed look. It's a perfect balance! Thank you!!
Yes! Thank you so much for watching!
11:01 Such a great tip about blending the roots and not having to do a root shadow 😊 beautiful results! 💫
You are one gifted girl! That is some gorgeous hair❣️🤩
Thank you so much Paula!!!❤️❤️❤️
Kristi is absolutely gifted!! She has a great talent for coloring hair and doing beautiful highlights!! 💖
You are an absolute magician!! I’m so in love with your work, consistency and dedication. You can tell that you really care about delivering the best results possible. I booked an appointment this saturday with a stylist in my city for a blonde balayage with highlights and i’m super exited about being a blondie again😍 (my boyfriend doesn’t like blondes and i haven’t told him about my appointment, wish me luck hahaha)
That's ok cause we don't need permission! Lol thank you so much for watching! I appreciate all your kind words! I definitely don't like short cuts and doing the best possible. Not trying to cover up lazy work
I have just stumbled on your videos and please be affirmed in knowing you are an EXCELLENT teacher! Seriously! I’m an artist/teacher who delves into experimenting w/my hair. I have loved ur videos. Keep up the amazing work. Many can do hair, but not all can teach and instruct like you do. Good’onya! ❤️💕
Oh wow! Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
Omg!!!!! Finally a video showing exactly what I want!!!! It's perfect! Not too much, not too little & that blend!!! I love how you think of the future dye sessions & low maintenance grow out! Where are you?! If your in CO I'd love to see you! 😍 Also, if your not, how would you describe this, to another hair stylist .....so I know what to ask for? Thank you!!
Thank you so much for watching! Yes, the perfect amount.... I would honestly send this to your stylist. I know I wouldn’t be offended
This was amazing! You explained and showed everything perfectly. Thank you!
Beautiful work!!
I used this as a guide to do my mom’s hair and it looks absolutely amazing! Thank you
I don’t know why but I have been a cosmetology for 19 years and I always feel anxious when I have a balayage, highlights in my chair….. I had this feeling….
Thank you for showing how her hair looks before styling! I personally always wear my hair straight and like seeing how blended things look on straight hair. This is beautiful!
Yes! I try to cause you can almost style anything to look good lol
Beautiful result, less is sometimes more 🙂 you make me smile, don't be anxious .We all appreciate your lengthy explaining and are grateful for your time and concern.Thank you ..
Thank you! Im glad you guys always understand what I'm trying to explain!
You're a great communicator. As someone who has been in the industry for 20 years but new to coloring hair, I appreciate the over explaining because coloring hair is not black and white, it's gray! Ha! I also love that you entitled your tutoriial as EASY and it's actually EASY!!! A lot of youtubers advertse as "easy" but skip through critical steps that heavily impact the end result!!! Thank you!! Keep posting please!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏽
So glad to hear! Thank you so much for watching!
😂 “Do you know what I am saying? I know you know what I’m saying “ you are fine learning comes by repetition
The outcomes looks beautiful! Just wondering what your thought process was with starting from the front and then the back? All I’ve learned says the front is the most prone to damage and to always start from the back but maybe you have a different view?
I like starting from the front cause I feel like I can be more detailed with the hairline. Any time I do it last, I always wish I did it first. I pull the foils out if I need to or use lighter developer. I don't ever just let it sit without checking on it.
@@hairbykristijennings6648 thank you so much for the explanation! I get so confused hearing totally different things from hairstylists! Makes perfect sense now, the hairline is what people usually see first so it’s what you want to look the most perfect.
I like doing the hairline first too because that’s where you want the brightest pieces, you can use a lower developer on it and also add olaplex...and you can always pull the foils and spray with a water bottle and wipe with a towel if you find they are done before you are done with everything else. There’s nothing worse then the very front pieces not being done with everything else, getting impatient and just rinsing them and then you lose out on the brightness where you need it most.
Agree with your coverage and blend! Minimal work done in the right way can create such an illusion that more is done then there actually was. that's outstanding! 👍
So happy I came across your video I have a client coming in next week that wanted a balayage she has virgin hair and wants the look but didn't have the budget for a balayage or full foil this technique is gonna save her money and save me time thank you for Sharing I can't wait for her to come in and to slay this thanks to you!!!!😊
Thank you Kristi for explaining how you section, subsection, & tease & apply the lightener ... I always just feel so crazy when I'm foiling, what you said helps me feel like I can have a better plan and more control :)
Oh good, I’m so glad! I always worry I don’t make sense so seeing these comments make me feel better! ❤️❤️
I am still trucking it through school so i appreciate the 10,000 ways of explaining it 🤣 also after watching your mushroom brown formula video I tried it and it came out so pretty! And, i am so sorry to hear about your sister Kristi. I will be keeping you in my prayers ❤️
Thank you so much for keeping me in your thoughts... I appreciate that so much. ❤️❤️❤️
I’m glad the over explaining makes sense to you guys! I’m always scared I don’t. Thank you so much for watching!!!
Found you a few weeks ago and loving all your videos. I’m also a hairstylist & I really enjoy your techniques . I’m a natural (& artificial 🤣 level 3) & I think I may try what you did in this video on myself with some level 5/6 highs to add a little something to my hair.
Hello and thank you so much for watching! I think that sounds like a good plan! It’s pretty fool proof I believe, so it should turn out nicely! Good luck!
Kristie, thank you for your amazing content. I feel like I have learnt so much from your videos as a stylist and it’s helped my confidence grow loads. So thanks :)
Oh good, I’m so glad! Thank you so much for watching!
I’ve just found you by accident and I absolutely love this. You’re lovely to listen to and learn from. Thank you x
W t h?!?!
I have been on UA-cam for weeks obsessing and watching all these baly foily bowlyages you name it but all of the clients results were usually too understated/zzZz or wouldn’t work for my hair color.
I was looking for demension on a brunette with bright & heavier front and lightening through the hair but not overboard.. yet still being able to leave the lightened and brown colors their own color without over mixing into one. And BAM BABY!! Finally!!!
Great freaking JOB! Not to mention not that many foils!!! I’m stoked.
Hair looks great!
Ps I understood everything you were saying and I’m far from a stylist
Keep them coming !
Oh!! And I’m stoked because now I have a video to go off of while I attempt this on my long brunette hair :p
Thank you so much! This made me laugh! Actually..... at first just from the initial "wth...." I was worried this would be a bad review! So glad you liked it! Thank you so much for watching!
Yeah right .. u got skillzzz girl!! Soo many vids will start out all fancy with music.. and an Australian accent pops up. And I’m like OHHH SHYT!! I’m about to witness THEE balyage master slay some heads. And then after 45 minutes the results look like they just sprayed some sun in. People do so much work then it comes out boring. Some people anyways :)
But your results have always impressed me. I mean it! Keep em coming
That’s so funny! But I know what you mean! Thank you for watching!
THANK YOU SO MUCH !! I've been trying to fine a video like this
Is she weaving out the sun sections tok? I’m Deff trying this. I always over work too
Definitely work smarter not harder 👌🏻👌🏻
I’m not a hairstylist, I’m an aesthetician, but I’m doing my best friend’s hair today and I am literally going to do this video lol so thank you so much for sharing
Wow this looks amazing for using 20 foils in her hair. I thought it wasn't going to turn out as blonde but WOW. Great job !!
If someone has grey roots you have to root shadow dont you i cant wait to try this thankyou kristie
Beautiful work, impressive.
Have u tried airtouch? Same result as backcomb, but no comb out so much easier and less painful 😁
Thank you! I haven’t but im always loving the way it turns out when I see it! The only thing with air touch is you don’t always want to eliminate all those hair strands. I like the back comb because sometimes I only want a small shadow, so I can back comb a small amount and still lighten the whole length of the hair, Vs air touch blows all the strands away, creating an extended shadow.
@@hairbykristijennings6648 when I watch u work.. U remind me so much of myself!
Therefore... I think u would really like the blow out technique, it really is pretty awesome.
Love watching you work, feel a little excited that uv replied! 😅
Trying this 20 foils tmrw in the salon! ❤ I always over work too!
Oh yay!I hope you liked it!
I am too
Thank you for explaining!! I need to hear things over and over again! Your videos have helped me tremendously! So detailed and yet you make it look so simple!! You’re a blessing to me as a fellow stylist ♥️
This is so beautiful!!. I wish you could post more videos of you working on dark hair
The best technique ever.❤️❤️❤️
Yay! Thank you so much!!!!
Damnnnn look at YOU!! You passed 10K subscribers!
I just have to say thank you! I was on a press for time today and wanted to look up a new technique to get it done faster and efficient. This placement turned out awesome!!!
Oh great! So glad it helped! Thank you for watching!
Truly outstanding work! This is on another level and I love it!
Thank you so much!!!
I just wanna tell you, I’ve been a stylist for 5 years now and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this video Kristi! Thank you thank you!!! Thank you for explaining btw!!
This is my go to technique now! All of my clients love it. So thank you!!❤️
Please tell me you live in Michigan. Wow. That looks beautiful. Btw, where are you located?
Sadly, no. I’m in Washington state. Quite a ways away!
Absolutely gorgeous. Very talented stylist.
Thank you so much!
Sorry, I'm not usually a commenter but haven't done foils in a while and am about to help out a friend and come across your video which shows basically exactly what I do to avoid growing out in a harsh way. I love it but the reason I'm commenting is your anxiety explanations. I am right here with you. I understand exactly what you're saying talking about and feel the same way. I had to rewind it and listen to it again because I'm cracking up. I will have to show my friends and they will all be like. Oh my gosh that's you! So you're not alone sister. Also, this comment is voice to text because I just got out of the shower and I'm not going back to check any typos or mistakes. So be kind lol
Loved it ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh yay! Thank you❤️❤️
I have worked alone for a long time and now I’m working in a salon I find that I have overdown so much lol! I worked way to hard.
What toner do u have on your hair? I like that color!
Thank you for this video I use this placement all the time! It’s perfect!
Thank you so much for this! I watched it last night and I used it today on 2 if my 4 foils! And they loved it
Your welcome! That makes me so happy to hear!
Could you you show how to Correct the striped looking "wrong" highlights on the mannequin Showing what to do when we are asked to fix a bad highlight job, please
Yes! Here's a video....

I’m on my husbands account…..I LOVE all your videos and I am so sorry about your sister!
Oh thank you! I appreciate it! It's really hard to believe.... I can't believe it will be a year gone by here in the next month. Time really flies.
Just followed you on Instagram love this
Oh yay! I appreciate that, thank you!
I noticed your thick front money pieces looked good. I’m having issues w a line at the top of my foils and I have tried everything and cannot figure out what I’m doing to cause this orangish line at the roots Plz help?
It's probably from feathering.... not saturating enough at the root area. Take like 3 thin sections, back comb, weave and just lay the bleach on thick in foil. That should help get rid of that brass
Would this be considered a partial of full?
Great question! Partial…..
You Explain perfectly you don’t have to explain in circles you do a fabulous job an you’re phenomenal and you are a verb. And not a lot of people can say they are a verb! you’re perfect. like Mary Poppins nearly perfect in every way!!!
Oh man, that's quite the compliment to be in the same sentence as Mary Poppins! Made my day! 🥰🥰🥰
I can't thanknyou enough for this video, I had been trying for years different salons in south florida, but as having a black dark original color, they always ended up doing what they can😢 , even if it means returning for a secomd step process to ligthening more, now im medium brown, but they can never let my highlights light ash with low lights dark, so today i found this video, and decided this is a fantastic way to do it myself and try.(of.course temporary, i will def need the professional hand to do the whole head properly) I just finished and realized that my color turned out with this technique closest to the color i want❤.. i was very slow with highlight but tried to imitate all what you taught here and highlights came out super clean, light and beautiful, that I believe bleaching the hair is the scary part for most of us. If one day I visit your state, definitely ill make an appointment with you❤ it would be my dream coming true❤ thanks
Time & time again I get lost in all the new techniques they come out with today, but for a solid 2 years I’ve been coming back to rewatch this & make sure I don’t miss a thing cus it’s a holy grail, tried & trusted & definitely the best time saving technique for blend & overall look. I love love love this placement & can never thank you enough ma’am for posting this 🥰🥹🫶🏻 of all the hair industry gurus, your tutorials make the most sense to me & easy to follow & I just trust you w it all!
I over did the bleach on my client today😭🤧 if I want to add dimension back how would I do it
Oh no problem! Just go through and foil in some darker pieces, do a thicker weave and alternating with slices. Just weave five pieces on top tho so it’s not too dark
sooo nice im a brunette if only in my babylight dreams
Im sure it would look so beautiful! I love darker hair!
Matrix total results miracle creator is amazing at detangling i literally was able to comb out dreadlocks on a poor young girl who refused her hair to be brushed by her mum for months! Definitely a great product that we use in my salon. It also conditions and helps defrizz the hair 💕
Oh so good to know! I’ll grab some. Thank you for the recommendation!
Why don’t you add the bleach to the ends? How do you know if you take it all the way down or not? Looks like some you maybe do
Running bleach thru the ends can cause damage. Sometimes il wait till the last few minutes if it needs more lifting
You are very good but wish you use a gloves while doing highlighting
But I love your video tganks
Oh yes.... I know I need to be better at that. Thank you for watching!
Wow her hair looks amazing! This is one of the best videos ive seen! LOVE IT!!!!!!!
U are amazing!!!thank youvso mufh for your channel ♥️♥️♥️♥️✨
Of course! Thank you so much for watching!
Girl you make all the sense. You’ve upped my game so much! These videos are very much appreciated ✌🏻❤️
So beautiful . You're so talented
Thank you so much!!!
I have a client who's hair is stretchy and elastic when wet. It takes ages to comb through. But if I dry it to 70% and then use a wetbrush, I have no issues getting the knots out. Doing this for the past year saved me a lot of time on her hair.
How much would you charge for this service?
In my area this would go for $200-$225
This is so beautiful !! 💜
Thank you so much!!!
You are an amazing hairdresser! Love you and the way you explain things ❤️
Thank you so much!
Best balayage tutorial, thank you so much, this is so helpful;-)))
You're great at what you do and you keep it real.
Can you do a video with color and highlights, many of my clients want gray coverage with highlights
Beautiful work thank you for sharing these amazing tips!! I’m excited to try it!! You are not over explaining 😂 I appreciate you 🙏🏽❤️
I swear I get anxiety thinking about over explaining! 😂😂😂 thank you for watching!
If i want this look but without money piece how should i do it in front?
Honestly, just take away the front facial foils....
Wow this video is so thorough! I love how you explain every detail! Well done and the result is just stunnnnnning!
Thank you so much! I appreciate it!
All my coworkers love blonde me… but I’ve had problems with it swelling??
Oh yes, it swells badly. I always add just a few sprays of water to thin it out
@@hairbykristijennings6648 interesting! Makes sense!

I know right!!! So good!❤️❤️❤️
17:00 I understand what your saying🙌🏾💋👍🏾!!!!
which thing you use on hair in which kind of bleech
I use schwarzkopf BlondeMe lightener
Can you do this technique on virgin hair?
Yes! You might need to balayage thru the ends of the hair tho
Hi Kristi, been watching your tutorials for a while now..love your work😊.. I just tried this technique on my daughter’s hair tonight.. I have been a hairstylist for many years ,had my cosmetology license at age 16 , graduated from a vocational high school and that’s why.. can you believe working on the floor doing hair at 16 lol.. I used to have to tell my clients I was 18 because at 16 I looked 14.. anyway, I mostly just do hair from home now on family and friends but I would hate myself if I didn’t know how to do all the latest and greatest colors / highlights and such! This is only the second time back- combing w/ foiling and I really love it because teasing at the root takes less time and just looks great as well as helps to avoid going too high up. PLUS so much easier to baliage this way!!! IDK how you foil your own hair so good!!! I HATE foiling my own hair!! It kills my arms and back and never comes out perfect so I always have to fix it with toner , more lightner ect!!!!!
Anyway , she is processing now and fingers crossed it comes out well. If not I have to listen to a 16 year old bitch!!!! I will let you know.. thx for great videos
Great job explaining, thank you looks beautiful!
Have any tips/tricks to getting the tease out?
I prefer using a comb, a brush tends to tear the hair. A good serum and shine spray just in the teased area helps too... depending on the hair. Sometimes drying first helps.
Hello Kristy, how are you? I'm looking fron Mendoza Argentina. I❤you works. It's sad, I"m can't look subtitules in Spanish 😔 but I'm looking all here. Sorry, my english es very fatal, not nice jaja😂. Beautiful day for you guapa.
Quiero hacer ésto en casa, sola ó con ayuda de mi madre, marido, alguien, estoy aprendiendo del círculo de colorimetría, poco a poco, aquí no me hacen camouflage , balayage bonito. Me aburre andar siempre igual. Ahora tengo cooper gold with balayage y quiero hacer mechas a mano alzada . Mi base natural es 4 en raiz de 3 a 4 centímetros, el resto es cobrizo dorado.
What number uses?
You are a genius. I mean very talented.. this is exactly what I’m looking to do to my hair very thin baby lights on top because I do want my brown hair to show. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I will definitely follow your steps but instead of teasing I will be using a blow dryer. That way I don’t have tangles plus I do want to go with a Demi permanent color to get rid of that brown hair that has faded into kind of orange color. It seems that the blue shampoo is not working.
This is one of the nicest finishes super well done can’t wait to copy this technique
Thank you so much, I’m glad you liked it. Good luck!
I love your video! You explain things so well:) I know you were worried about over explaining but seriously so many things that I learned that came from that :) I hate root shadows ;so much extra work if you just take the time to blend it can be avoided for the most point ! Love it ! Wanted to ask currently starting school, but I’m confused on whether or not I leave the ends out if they’ve been previously colored blonde at their last appt if it’s been awhile, for a client that’s let their balayage grow out by like 5-8 months. Always tried to not cover them since they are so delicate and I don’t want them to snap. But wondering if it’s really that big of a deal.
