    I tried this technique about six months ago, and let me tell you, it turned out AMAZING!!! I encountered a couple of colorists who didn’t want to work on my hair so I gave up and decided to do it myself, I have a level 3 hair color, so it was too dark for them. I did the whole thing and people kept complementing me everywhere. Thank you so much for your wisdom and YEARS of hard work and your own learning, this video is invaluable!

I think I used to overfoil so much in the beginning and now I’ve learned that less is more sometimes if you want that beautiful dimension. Happy I learned that early on thanks to you and your video! • @Swearwordco
    @Swearwordco 3 роки тому +12

    The outcomes looks beautiful! Just wondering what your thought process was with starting from the front and then the back? All I’ve learned says the front is the most prone to damage and to always start from the back but maybe you have a different view?

    • @hairbykristijennings6648
      @hairbykristijennings6648  3 роки тому +15

      I like starting from the front cause I feel like I can be more detailed with the hairline. Any time I do it last, I always wish I did it first. I pull the foils out if I need to or use lighter developer. I don't ever just let it sit without checking on it.

    • @Swearwordco
      @Swearwordco 3 роки тому +6

      @@hairbykristijennings6648 thank you so much for the explanation! I get so confused hearing totally different things from hairstylists! Makes perfect sense now, the hairline is what people usually see first so it’s what you want to look the most perfect.

    • @ldubb317
      @ldubb317 3 роки тому +7

      I like doing the hairline first too because that’s where you want the brightest pieces, you can use a lower developer on it and also add olaplex...and you can always pull the foils and spray with a water bottle and wipe with a towel if you find they are done before you are done with everything else. There’s nothing worse then the very front pieces not being done with everything else, getting impatient and just rinsing them and then you lose out on the brightness where you need it most.

    I have been on UA-cam for weeks obsessing and watching all these baly foily bowlyages you name it but all of the clients results were usually too understated/zzZz or wouldn’t work for my hair color.
    I was looking for demension on a brunette with bright & heavier front and lightening through the hair but not overboard.. yet still being able to leave the lightened and brown colors their own color without over mixing into one. And BAM BABY!! Finally!!!

      Thank you! I haven’t but im always loving the way it turns out when I see it! The only thing with air touch is you don’t always want to eliminate all those hair strands. I like the back comb because sometimes I only want a small shadow, so I can back comb a small amount and still lighten the whole length of the hair, Vs air touch blows all the strands away, creating an extended shadow.

    I can't thanknyou enough for this video, I had been trying for years different salons in south florida, but as having a black dark original color, they always ended up doing what they can😢 , even if it means returning for a secomd step process to ligthening more, now im medium brown, but they can never let my highlights light ash with low lights dark, so today i found this video, and decided this is a fantastic way to do it myself and try.(of.course temporary, i will def need the professional hand to do the whole head properly) I just finished and realized that my color turned out with this technique closest to the color i want❤.. i was very slow with highlight but tried to imitate all what you taught here and highlights came out super clean, light and beautiful, that I believe bleaching the hair is the scary part for most of us. If one day I visit your state, definitely ill make an appointment with you❤ it would be my dream coming true❤ thanks

      Oh no problem! Just go through and foil in some darker pieces, do a thicker weave and alternating with slices. Just weave five pieces on top tho so it’s not too dark

    Matrix total results miracle creator is amazing at detangling i literally was able to comb out dreadlocks on a poor young girl who refused her hair to be brushed by her mum for months! Definitely a great product that we use in my salon. It also conditions and helps defrizz the hair 💕

    Why don’t you add the bleach to the ends? How do you know if you take it all the way down or not? Looks like some you maybe do

    • @hairbykristijennings6648
      @hairbykristijennings6648  3 роки тому

      Running bleach thru the ends can cause damage. Sometimes il wait till the last few minutes if it needs more lifting

    I have a client who's hair is stretchy and elastic when wet. It takes ages to comb through. But if I dry it to 70% and then use a wetbrush, I have no issues getting the knots out. Doing this for the past year saved me a lot of time on her hair.

    Hi Kristi, been watching your tutorials for a while now..love your work😊.. I just tried this technique on my daughter’s hair tonight.. I have been a hairstylist for many years ,had my cosmetology license at age 16 , graduated from a vocational high school and that’s why.. can you believe working on the floor doing hair at 16 lol.. I used to have to tell my clients I was 18 because at 16 I looked 14.. anyway, I mostly just do hair from home now on family and friends but I would hate myself if I didn’t know how to do all the latest and greatest colors / highlights and such! This is only the second time back- combing w/ foiling and I really love it because teasing at the root takes less time and just looks great as well as helps to avoid going too high up. PLUS so much easier to baliage this way!!! IDK how you foil your own hair so good!!! I HATE foiling my own hair!! It kills my arms and back and never comes out perfect so I always have to fix it with toner , more lightner ect!!!!!
    Anyway , she is processing now and fingers crossed it comes out well. If not I have to listen to a 16 year old bitch!!!! I will let you know.. thx for great videos

    Have any tips/tricks to getting the tease out?

    • @hairbykristijennings6648
      @hairbykristijennings6648  3 роки тому +1

      I prefer using a comb, a brush tends to tear the hair. A good serum and shine spray just in the teased area helps too... depending on the hair. Sometimes drying first helps.

    Hello Kristy, how are you? I'm looking fron Mendoza Argentina. I❤you works. It's sad, I"m can't look subtitules in Spanish 😔 but I'm looking all here. Sorry, my english es very fatal, not nice jaja😂. Beautiful day for you guapa.
    Quiero hacer ésto en casa, sola ó con ayuda de mi madre, marido, alguien, estoy aprendiendo del círculo de colorimetría, poco a poco, aquí no me hacen camouflage , balayage bonito. Me aburre andar siempre igual. Ahora tengo cooper gold with balayage y quiero hacer mechas a mano alzada . Mi base natural es 4 en raiz de 3 a 4 centímetros, el resto es cobrizo dorado.
    What number uses?

    You are a genius. I mean very talented.. this is exactly what I’m looking to do to my hair very thin baby lights on top because I do want my brown hair to show. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I will definitely follow your steps but instead of teasing I will be using a blow dryer. That way I don’t have tangles plus I do want to go with a Demi permanent color to get rid of that brown hair that has faded into kind of orange color. It seems that the blue shampoo is not working.

    I love your video! You explain things so well:) I know you were worried about over explaining but seriously so many things that I learned that came from that :) I hate root shadows ;so much extra work if you just take the time to blend it can be avoided for the most point ! Love it ! Wanted to ask currently starting school, but I’m confused on whether or not I leave the ends out if they’ve been previously colored blonde at their last appt if it’s been awhile, for a client that’s let their balayage grow out by like 5-8 months. Always tried to not cover them since they are so delicate and I don’t want them to snap. But wondering if it’s really that big of a deal.
